First Buick hits the spot.
I bought the CXS after shopping the Chrysler 300C, the Toyota Avalon, the VW Passat and the Cadillac xxx. I had been driving a 99 Chrysler 300M. The Lucerne is very quiet, rides well and has great features with pretty practical controls, including those on the steering wheel and column. The sound system is outstanding, and I'm sold on the XM/OnStar combination. The parking assist and rear obstacle detector are great, particularly in parallel parking and tight parking lots. This is my first V8; it delivers the power. Highway passing is a breeze, and it maintains highway speed on fair grades in the mountains without any difficulty. It has a cavernous trunk. Some of the other conveniences like the remote start and the rain-sensitive windshield wipers are great, though probably not critical to a satisfactory driving experience. If I had my druthers, the rear seats would fold down instead of just having the little passthrough port. You'd expect the cargo net in the trunk to be standard on a $30+k car, and the 18 inch chrome wheels look great but make for a fairly wide turning radius. If the reliability and build quality prove out over time, this is a real keeper.

Lucerene CXL V6
My dad bought a Lucerne in January and I have had the last 4 months to give it a thorough testing. I have found this car to be quite comfortable and satisfying on just about every level. The car rides very smoothly and extremely quietly. The leather coddles you in comfort and makes cool nights with the roof open a dream. The V6 is ample, but could use a few extra ponies in the upper register(50mph-60mph) The styling is also very good. In fact, two of my buddies have shopped for one after riding in this one. (one actually purchased) Not bad considering we have a couple of years before we turn 30! Anyway, while there are a few minor gripes, the overall effect is a knockout. Buick has provided a car with enough muscular grace and substance to appeal to many different age groups. If you need a large car and want something truly pampering, try out this car. Its a big car with out the nauseating float and glide in buicks of the 90's
