04 Aveo bombproof,09, a bomb

I bought a brand new 09, after selling my 04 to my brother at 189k miles, which I also bought new. The 04, after 6 hard Alaska winters, needed new wheel bearing, ball joints, timing belt, alternator, belts, and tires, which I all replaced. At 205,000 miles, it is still going strong. My 09 at 15,000 needed both front wheel bearings replaced. At around 17,000, the thermostat went. At 35,000, it needed new tires, as it burned all the tread off the old ones. At 41,000, needed both front bearings again. And it started burning up the new tires, even after a 4 wheel alignment. On the upside, it was relatively comfortable inside, had a great heater in winter, and it had great headroom. The audio was mediocre at best, and it was hampered by the outside noise at highway speeds. The absolute most annoying feature of this car was the hi-beam indicator light in the dash, a bright blue orb that shines right into your eyes at night. OK starter car for the money, but get rid of it before 36,000 miles when the bumper to bumper warranty expires, or you will be shelling out the bucks for repairs. For a small car, the ride is good, handling is solid, even in the hills, and windy roads. My Aveo sedan was a 5 speed, and it did fine in the hills, and I was suprised that only in the really steep hills, I had to drop a gear. Mileage was great, about 40+ on the highway. However, at 46,000 miles, the alternator was overcharging, and the rear bearings needed replacing. The dealer offered me a decent trade-in, so I moved into a 2010 Malibu. No more Aveos for me.

2004 AVEO

I have read some of the negatives remarks about gas mileage. All i have to say on that is don't drive with a lead foot. I usually get 35 miles to the gallon and on the oppen road closer to 40 mpg. acceleration no problem drive every day long distance on interstate to and from work,. comfort ok, would have liked a real good cd player in it, can't have it all handles well looks sharp interior could use a little mor e fluff good value for money spent. very reliable only thing have to replace a lot is tires. looks small from outside , but when you get inside is surprising how much room you have. large trunk that opens into the back seat area. great for hauling extra stuff. really love this vehicle and hope to be driving it for the next 20 years.

Dont take any chances with this car

The vehicle does not get the gas mileage as promised by the manufacturer. 34hwy and 27 city are listed on the specs but I never once got the AVERAGE above 24 even after driving it 200 miles on the highway. Normally it just teetered at 20 or 21. Very poor acceleration. I could not merge with traffic in a reasonable amount of time. Cars often passed me and honked or flashed their lights at me in and around merge lanes. The car is very cute in appearance. Very nice and stylish dash board features. Very attractive stereo and fabric. Limited storage space. The car appears bigger than what is really offered. Limited cup holders, no center storage compartment, small glove box, tiny trunk, no foot room in back seats. The car was purchased with 26,000 miles on it. After ten days of ownership, the vehicle left me stranded during a minnesota blizzard at 10pm. The check engine light abruptly came on and the vehicle began to violently shake and decelerate. With numerous vehicles following behind me I started having trouble controlling the car. I pulled over into a residential neighborhood and called for help. While waiting I turned the heat on but the engine began to die. The only way the vehicle remained running while the heat was on was if I lightly depressed the gas pedal. Once my boyfriend, a mechanic and chevy enthusiast, arrived, he checked under the hood. He heard a grinding and crunching noise coming from the engine. I immediately exchanged it for something more reliable.

You Get What You Pay For

The Aveo is a small car - adequate room for front seat passengers but no room in the rear. Handles fairly well for the size of the engine. Surprisingly poor gas mileage for a vehicle of this size. Rated at 25 mpg for the city and you won't do better than this. Driver's side headrest makes it difficult to see when backing up.

Good car, depending on your expectations

I compared the Aveo5 to the Yaris, which is almost identical in many ways. I?m a Toyota enthusiast (we also own a Toyota), but I found the Yaris? interior to be absolutely absurd, (with the speedometer in the center of the dash and virtually no gauges), so weird that I didn?t like it. The Aveo seemed far more comfortable and easier to drive. The Aveo feels like a bigger car than it is. The body carriage sits very high off the ground: ground clearance is about 8?, which is much more than the Honda Fit and the others that ride much lower to the pavement. I bought the Aveo for my wife for her local commuting to work without her having seen it or driven it beforehand. She LOVES the car! It?s cute and it?s fun to drive. DIY routine maintenance (oil changes, etc.) appears to be easy. The stainless steel exhaust is much preferred for longevity. Logical, easy to read controls and dash layout, with analog gauges. Easy to get in and out of. Seats feel solid, supportive, and are very adjustable. Seating is high up and visibility is excellent. The ride is firm, but not hard, unless you are on washboard pavement. Exterior fit and finish are excellent ? unexpectedly so for an inexpensive car. There is VERY little glove box and interior storage space. There is no center console storage bin. The rear hatch has no remote release. I find it annoying to have to lock and unlock the hatch with a key from the outside. City gas mileage is disappointing to many Aveo owners. For a car this small, everyone expects it to get better mpg in city use. We?re getting about 24 MPG in all suburban driving. There appears to be more negative bias toward this car than deserved. Test drive one and compare it to the Yaris, Fit, Rio, etc. for yourself. You may not need or want certain features others may offer. This was the right car for us, considering what we expect from it. In buying it as a leftover 2009 model we got it for less than the dealer invoice price, plus there was an additional total cash incentive of $2000 ? and the total price was too good to pass up.This was the right car for us, considering what we expect from it. junkey aveo

The Chevy Aveo was bad and a waist of the $11,965. The trunck hatch does not even open. The aveo ruined chevy's reputation. If you want afuel efficent, stylish, roomy car you would be better off with a KIA Spectra than an Aveo.

Good Ol' Reliable ...

The 2009 Chevy Aveo is my first car ... well my first car that I actually chose that is. For the money, it really isn't a bad deal ... I mean you get great gas mileage, a niiiice looking interior (if you choose to get the woodgrain look and beige seats like I did, which really does look very nice & classy), and you also get the privilege of being able to get in and out of parking spaces as easy as 1-2-3! (Something I really got used to). Although, this car is not going to win you any type of street race ... for that matter any race with that 106 horsepower engine. It is true though that on a windy day the car definitley becomes a bit shifty on the expressway when you begin hitting the 70+ mph range. Not a huuuge deal because most speed limits are maxed out at 70mph anyways LoL! This car is definitley targeted to college students like myself. Overall it is a good deal for the money, just don't be driving it all around like it's your brand new chevy corvette or anything like that.

My Wifes New Car

At first glance I thought it was a good deal for the money. After Driving it I felt the car was really unstable on the highway or under windy conditions. We even took the car back to the dealer two weeks after purchasing it to complain about it. They looked at the car and felt there was nothing wrong. I feel for the money the car has adequate power and Myself being 250+ and over 6?ft tall fit in the car good. Not really happy with the car. I wish I would have taken more time to look at the other cars available.
