From Sporty to Not so much!
My bones could no longer take the rattle of my 2002 Firebird and the snow does not help either. I wanted a comfortable ride and that is what I got in my brand new 2009 Impala. I realized I could drive in the rain and stay dry. I wanted a four door that would fit into a parking lot without receiving a second look. My wife does not like the headrest as she needs to tilt the seat back. Some have had issues with the lumbar support in the seat. I however find it a joy to drive.

2009 Impala Review
Moved up from 2002 Malibu to this 2009 Impala LT. The Malibu gave us excellent service but it was time to move up. We are value oriented and thought this Impala LT Sports Sedan met those requirements. The interior is more spacious than the Malibu with upgraded appointments. I especially found the fold up rear seats convenient to carry items that one wouldn't want on your upholstry. All the power equipment and visual instrmentation makes the car easy to drive and drive it does. Watch that speed. It will run up to 80 if you are not careful. Takes the 6% grade hills with ease; very smooth and sporty ride for a family sedan. The trunk is hugh with 18 cu.ft. of space. Really great looking with superb bright red paint; and spoiler sets it off nicely. I thought the seats could be softer and it could use additional cup holders in the doors. Overall a good buy for value oriented car enthusiasts.

Great Incentives on Impala LTZ
I purchased this car because I was coming off my Pontiac G6 GT lease and they had some great incentives. I know I am in a different class of vehicle but I have a rough time getting used to it. There are basically 4 things I don't like. 1. Gas Mileage. I am averaging around 20 MPG after 4000 miles on the vehicle. I was expecting mid 20's since I drive mostly highway around 78 mph. 2. Gas Pedal. My other vehicle (Trailblazer) and my previous vehicles never needed as much strength to get it to go. It's not impossible but it's just enough that you notice you are fighting with it. 3. Transmission. I only have a problem with it from the starting position and it may be related to the gas pedal issue. It seems to either want to just crawl off the start or it just kicks in and goes. There is a very fine line between the two of them and it's enough that you have to focus on how you are starting off rather than just driving the vehicle. 4. Wind Noise. For a big vehicle I would have expected it to be quiter than it is at highway speeds. Things I do like. I love the Bluetooth, interior room, the trunk is huge. The ride is rather smooth and the seats are comfy enough. The exterior in black that I got with the spoiler is actually pretty nice looking. I like the dual air controls although the nobs they put on it are hard to control because they are so touchy. It's got good enough passing power when you need it. All in all, it's a comfy good size car. I am going to take it in and see if there is anything they can do about my driveability issues.

Impala 09
This is now my third Impala I have had since 2003. I traded in my 2003 with almost 160,000 miles in 2007. It was a great car other then some brake problems and electrical issues. I work with my brother and both travel for are company and we are both GM fans but I almost jumped ship in 2007. I traded my 2003 Impala for a new one with the 3.9 liter motor while my brother got the 5.3 SS. I didn?t feel the added cost of the 5.3 was worth it. Don?t get me wrong I love the sound and power but when you travel like I do I need a car with good mileage and at the time I didn?t think that I was going to be able t get that from the 5.3 motor. My brother got his car a week after I got mine and after 30 days he had a little over 7500 miles on his and I had just over 5500 miles on mine. Most of the time I drive more then him but after spending 4 days in North Dakota while they fixed my car I started to have a bad feeling about this car. The next 6 months were trouble free for the most part, I did have some small problems that are normal for new cars. I was just over 52,000 miles and the heads let go on the car and thank god I was home this time not driving for work so I was able to get it fixed fast due to the good relationship I have with my local GM dealer. While they fixed my car they let me take a Impala SS for the week. I put 4800 miles on it and ended up buying it. My brother now has 114,000 miles on his with not one problem other then the normal things, but no brake problems like we both had with 2003 and like I had with my 2007. Motor is running great and most shocking the gas mileage is good also. If are driving in the city the 3.9 was about 2 miles better to the gallon but on the highway the 5.3 is the same and if you driving on hills and things the 5.3 is better with mileage then the 3.9 motor. Over all the SS is a great car! I should have gone with it the first time. I now have 73,000 on this car with no down time other then your oil changes and normal maintenance. Over all I am happy that I am still with a GM and would never think that I would be saying that a V8 would get better mileage and cost my less to run then the V6 but its true. I am sure its because the V8 doesn?t work as hard and they don?t have to crank it up like they do a V6. .
