Good car for the money
My 2006 Malibu LS 2.4 L, 4 cyl was a dealer advertised special and I got it brand new for a very good price. It has 44K miles now. I use this car for my daily commute to work (15 miles each way) and my wife takes it for shopping and drop kids to games, etc. I get an average 29 miles/gallon; yes I drive carefully like a gentleman. Once I took the car for a 400 mile trip and I got 35 mile average on the highway. Car had one problem with in this 44K, the steering gear needed to replace. This car has an electronic steering gear instead of the mechanical steering pump. But for the money I spent to buy this car, it is still worth it even if I had to change the steering gear. It is medium size car and much heavier than other 4 cyl cars.

We Love Our New Car
We just bought a 2006 Chevy Malibu and we love it. We tradded or 98 chevy malibu for it and it was the bast decision we ever made. There is so much space in the back seat and that was a big issue for us having two boys. We love it.

I prefer my '98 Malibu & '88 Corsica over this car
Traded my Trailblazer in for the Malibu due to the cost of gas. Since I had owned a Malibu in the past & loved it, I thought I couldn't go wrong. WHAT A MISTAKE. The car is like a piece of tin, the interior is plastic, seating is uncomfortable and material for the seats looks cheap. Wind noise from rear windows, dealer can not adjust doors to fix. Make sure you take it on the highway at 60-70 mph and listen carefully. When the control for airflow is turned off air still blows through the vents, they tell me its normal, I'm checking into this with GM; why do I want cold air blowing in on me before the car warms up, doesn't make sense. My 98 Malibu had 135,000 miles and I should have kept it. The person who bought it 1 yr ago still has it and its still going strong. I'll be surprised if this '06 Malibu last 2 yrs. The biggest mistake I've ever made was purchasing this car. This vehicle is cheaply made. Don't waste your money!

I'm surprised I liked this car!
I recently had two separate opportunities to drive this same car. My parents bought one and I took it for a spin when i visited them. I also had one as a rental for a week when my car was in the garage. I wasn't expecting to like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. Visibility is good. The car has anice light feel to it, and eagerly goes in the direction you want it too without delay. The engine (2.2L 4 cyl) isn't a power house, but it is surprisingly peppy around the city, getting up to speed after traffic lights and stops at a good rate. Acceleration on the highway is another matter. It's one of those "mash the pedal to the floor, hear the engine complain as it roars to its redline without really noticing any significant increase in speed. The car was - however - easy to drive and well worth its rather low cost.

Good bang for the buck
While it may not have every feature I'd ever want, it has most of them for a very affordable price. I would have liked the radio to be MP3 capable, and Bose speakers like other LT2 trim chevy's would also be preferable. Don't get me wrong, the sound is very good. I'm just picky. The cloth seats are not as soft as I would prefer, but they are practical material when it comes to cleaning. I love the handling. Where I live, the traction control and ABS are essential. The electric steering is nice both for handling and lack of hydraulics. In extreme cold like we have here, power steering hoses are one of the most common repairs. My V6 model has awesome acceleration.

Great car w/minor quirks
I really like my 2006 Malibu. The car has enough power to pass at will. The 3.5 6 cylinder car I bought has things I didn't expect. For instance, the V6 models come with remote start - excellent for the coming winter months. The handling is great. From the tires, steering wheel performance, and suspension, I am very pleased. However, there is one quirk, the steering system is electronic and it's performance varies depending on your speed and acceleration. From a stop, it's effortless. In the midst of full acceleration it's supper stiff and responsive. From constant speeds, it's a little soft. Overall, the steering performance is very good. The car is comfortable and has lots of space. It's great for driving around friends & family.

excellent vehicle
It needs a bigger glove box plus illumination for it. Also I feel the car shouldhave either a counter balanced hood or stuts to hold it open also it should have standard heated power mirrors for a car in this price class.

Excellent car
I had a Chevy Trailblazer and wow what a difference. Loved my truck-- hated the cost of the gas to fill the tank. My Malibu LTZ fits my family of 5 if it has to, with comfort and enough room for all and lots of trunk space too. Has pick up when I hit the gas and the gas mileage is great...especially with the price of gas lately ! OnStar, handsfree phone and my sunroof are great additions. Will recommend highly recommend this car. I am very happy with my car and all the options I got for a great price.
