I had a travel experience in January 2023, while vacationing in Florida, to save money I ordered a subcompact and was up graded to a Chevy Malibu. The LT has the smaller 1.5 L 4 Cylinder which was great on gas, performance was good, not great like my Chevy Avalanche. Missed my flight back to JFK NYC, My fault. Jet Blue got me to LaGuardia AP. Rental Company at JFK was About to Close. The same Company had a branch in LaGuardia they rented me a Malibu at no extra cost. It snowed and the front wheel drive just held the road. That's why I purchased a 2020 Malibu Premier it had everything but the Safety & entertainment. I loved everything else.

GASOLINE SENSOR MAlFUNCTION
My engine light is on when my gas tank is not full because of the fuel sensor . It just hit the 5 year mark! 78k miles. Chevy wants 180.00 to look at it! This also happened to my last Malibu! My 2005 had the same problem!

The 2016 Chevy Malibu isnt a good choice vehicle
I got this car back in 2016 by 17-18 I was already taking it to the shop and I have spent a lot of money on this car. Then the mechanic tells me that the car's with the turbos on them your motor want last to 150k to 200k the engine will malfunction. I paid the car off about a month later the engine went out. And I took my car to get serviced everytime it was time to and look what that got me I feel like Chevy or GM should be held responsible for that because they should know about what the turbos do to there motors

Very Solid Purchase
I purchased my Malibu LT (1.5L) new in August 2016 and have absolutely loved it ever since. It has a quiet and refined ride, roomy interior with ample leg room for rear seat passengers, power adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, clear and easy-to-use infotainment system, fold-down rear seats, and some nice ambient interior lighting. While the 1.5L turbo engine won’t win a drag race, it’s still peppy enough to allow confident expressway entrances, and fuel economy is excellent for a 5-passenger sedan. Typically, with combined city/highway driving, I’ll see an average of 34 mpg (low of 24 to high of 44+). Driving at 50-55 mph on our flat So. Florida expressways will easily get 45+ mpg, while cruising at 70-75 will still get in the high 30's. The 4-wheel disc anti-lock brakes are good and inspire confidence. At 108,700 miles, aside from regular oil changes, I’ve replaced the battery twice, replaced a tail brake light bulb (warranty), had a cooling system flush, a fuel system/throttle body repair ($200+), and got a new set of tires. I’ve only been stranded 3 times (flat tire from expressway debris, and twice with dead battery) over 6+ years of ownership, so reliability gets high marks. This car is ubiquitous for a reason – it’s a very solid purchase.

Stay Away
This was the most expensive and the worst car I ever owned. Shift to Park problem, engine power reduced, leaking trunk, mold growing inside car, infotainment system failure. In less than 3 years I experienced all of these problems. The infotainment system and the shift to park problem happened more than once. GM won't acknowledge these known issues. Their mechanics are a joke. The service manager had an attitude and expected me to be without my car for more than a week before he would look at it although it was under warranty and he refused to issue me a loaner vehicle. As a result of the endless stress of owning this xxx, I sold the car and bought a much older Acura that at least is reliable. Stay away from all GM vehicles.

You will regret it
Literally the worst car I have owned EVER. I despise this car with every fiber in me with the problems it gives. If it’s not one problem it’s another. The entire time I had this car I was afraid of driving it. Due to me not being rich I couldn’t get rid of the car right away but I’m finally getting rid of this xxx and I feel like a million pounds being lifted off my shoulders. Here are only some problems I had to deal with. Assistant steering always turns off, bad oil leak, over heating due to broken gasket, leaking trunk, when I shift to R it’s very bad can’t quite describe it but the whole car shakes, and it completely turned off as I was going up a hill with cars behind me!!! Def ONE of the MANy times I had a break down (crying) with this car.

Solid Car.
Solid American transportation. Good fuel economy and enough room. Treats me quite well and I'm very happy with my purchase. I even went ahead and got an extended warranty.
