Great little car!!

I have always owned trucks and finally made the decision I needed something with better gas mileage. This car gets twice the gas mileage my truck did and its much more comfortable. Its got a good amount of power for what it is. I couldnt have picked a better car for my first little car.

A CAR WORTH WAITING FOR

I was looking for an economical fun car to drive around the hills and curves of northern Alabama. I studied the usual small sporty cars for months trying to decide which one. Then I discovered the 1.4 liter turbo Sonic LT hatchback with a 6 speed transmission made in America which I now drive. It's a cost effective car with plenty of head room and cargo space. It averages 34 mpg. The turbo really makes the difference in performance, it's quiet, hugs the curves, I like the quad headlights, big tach, digital speedometer, xm radio and hill assist. The only problem I had was availability. After a month of looking, I bought mine the same day is rolled off the truck. Otherwise it would have been a long wait to order one. People are curious about this car. I tell them "It's a Chevy Sonic".

A Surprise

I went over pretty much every B-Segment vehicle I could this past winter looking for a new vehicle. My personal criteria wasn't unusual... Four Doors/Hatchback, Aluminum Wheels, Manual Transmission, Good Fuel Economy... The raw data put it in the running in terms of meeting my criteria and not breaking the bank. The test drive sealed the deal in a way I can't adequately put into words. The turbo was just plain fun to drive. Something I never conceived of for a sub-compact. Even now, months after the fact, I am thrilled with my purchase. The other vehicles that were close runners up were the Kia Soul, the Ford Fiesta, and the Nissan Versa, but the Sonic had the best blend of features and fun for me.

Excellent Car!

Pros: Smooth and quiet drive and ride, plenty of features (Stability control, traction control, Bluetooth, smartphone app control, etc.). Excellent fuel economy. Fun to drive! Cons: Need to spend some time to figure out all the features.

Good Car - Bad Ice Build-Up

Well, 700 miles into it - our state got a snow storm. And after just 48 miles, the ice build up was so bad around tire wells and behind tires that it took an hour to remove it with high power wash. It rooster tails all the way up to the front doors and ice was built up on brake mechanisms AND the exhaust (that surprised me even more). No splash guards and no mud flaps (we have the base model sedan) leads to safety issue. The ice was under door wells also. Will be taking it in to get the splash guards put on it - this is a safety issue. Tires AND brakes were rubbing. This was IN town driving - no faster than 40 mph and only driven twice on the snow. Other than that issue (which is a large one) - good gas mileage, good driving, handles well in snow. Now off to the local dealer to make sure this isn't just a "fluke".

Great US built subcompact

I bought my Sonic hatchback in September. I have over 4000 miles on it right now, and it is a well built car. Everything fits well, the cabin is quiet, and the car rides great. Mine has the 6 speed automatic and the 1.8 Liter engine. The car has just about every option one would want, including power windows, heated power mirrors, satellite radio, bluetooth for my cell phone, cruise control, audio and phone controls on the steering wheel, remote start, keyless locks and entry, and OnStar. It is a top safety pick with 10 airbags, and I get around 31mpg in combined highway/city driving. It has the standard aluminum wheels with 15 inch tires, and ABS brakes with discs in the front and drums in the back. The car is built well. No squeaks or rattles anywhere, the engine is powerful enough, and it handles very well. Most of all, the late, lamented Aveo was built by Daewoo in Korea. This is built in Lake Orion, Michigan, and it is a far superior car. Compare it with the Honda Fit, Ford Festiva, Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio. It is competitive with all of those cars, and made in USA. Chevy did this one right!

IT's LOVE

Love it. Bought it new last week, have about 400 miles on it. It looks like a million bucks, feels like a million bucks and has really nice features. I bought the cheap hatch back. It comes standard with all kinds of safety and convenience items. This car is a top safety pick. Handles great! Does not feel like a small car. It also has a way bigger interior then competitors and the rear seats can actually fit adults nicely. I drive 100 miles a day and so far have been averaging 36mpg. They all come standard with key less entry. The car does not feel like an "econo box". I love it and I hope it will be with me for a long time. I highly recommend it!
