Piece of junk had to spend $4000 on a $3000 car.
Good car except replaced intake crankshaft sensor, intake camshaft actuator, coil rail, now engine due to oil pump. All this in 1 month I'm a mechanic keep our cars up always. Debating on junking it.

Own a year with 3 repairs that GM isn’t covering.
3 major repairs in one year which GM knows about but will not cover. Cars has 65,000 with a new coil, water pump (which is a know issue for 2010-2014, but not covering 2015) and radio issue. I own 3 GM cars and a Ford. Ford takes 100% responsibility for recalls. GM waits to see how many people get hurt or killed ( Buick airbag, suburban airbag) before they do anything. Getting away from GM vehicles because they just don’t stand behind them anymore..

Best little car I’ve owned
I bought my Sonic because of the gas mileage and I call it my scoot about. It has been very reliable and is just the right size for me. It’s a 2015 but I only have 38000 original miles!

A/C compressor
I am told that my 2015 Sonic that has only 25,000 miles on it needs an A/C compressor. This makes no sense to me since it is only five years old and has only been driven 25,000 miles. The cost to replace it is $1,400. Outrageous! Purchased from Gerry Lane Chevrolet.

Very reliable, fantastic gas mileage!
Well made and very safe with 8 air bags for a smaller car. Nice easy to use dash and controls, comfortable seats. For an inexpensive car, the appointments and attention to details is outstanding. Quiet ride, lots of window space. For me personally, I wish the hatchback window was larger..but I'm short so it's probably a "me" thing!

very reliable for the money
I bought this car brand new in 2015. I have kept up on all maintenance according to the owners manual. I only use GM suggested fluids and parts. I now have 200,000 miles on this car and counting. Love it great car for the money.

Long term reliability is a problem
It isn't totally a bad vehicle, but if you have to replace anything that is not normal wear and tear, Just as an example with my 2015 Sonic, I have had to replace the thermostat housing 3 times in the last 6 months and the car is heading to the shop for number 4. If you need a vehicle to get you by, it is fine, but if you are looking for long term ownership, I would invest more time in looking at a broad range of vehicles.

Bought it used
I am financing my sonic used, it has 73,xxx miles on it when i got it. I've had it for 5 months. So far it has had 2 different oil leaks. I enjoy the size and mpg, it surprisingly can fit a lot of things inside! I would say that they really did a good job making the space in the cab useful. I did research on this model before purchasing. You just have to be aware that this is a economy/entry level vehicle not a Mercedes or BMW. Insurance is cheap and so is the monthly payment! That's why i got it.
