I wanted to love this car...but I find it just ok

I purchased my 2018 Chevy Traverse in May of 2018. It had 12k miles when I purchased it. I have now had this car a year with 25,000k miles. I absolutely hate how this car drives. This new 9 speed transmission is horrible and they need to get the kinks out or get rid of this transmission. It is not smooth! ESPECIALLY when stopping briefly for a stop sign or light and then taking off. It is jerky. I also find it struggles with gears while going on hills. It’s got too many gears or something because it sometimes seems like it doesn’t know what gear to be in. Auto stop/ start——I don’t love this figure. Wish it had option to turn it off. For the most part it’s consistent when it does it. Not to mention I had this car 6 months and my steering column broke. Luckily under warranty but still. I know way older cars that steering column has never went out....? Interior is on the cheap side. It scratches fairly easy. This car has been garage kept since I have had it and when I was hand waxing it a few days again noticed tiny rust spots on it. Things I liked: The space of the car is perfect for my needs. Third row seats are comfortable enough. Gas mileage I can’t complain about especially for the size of vehicle. What I liked most was the exterior of the car. It was appealing. Liked the body and changes they had made since previous models. I enjoy being able to connect my phone and use gps shows up on car screen. Overall I would say by pass this for now. It does t feel like it will be reliable for very long. I’m scared to death the transmission is going to just crap out sometimes. For the money I paid I should not have to feel paranoid of the car crapping out already. My family is all about Chevy but I am not impressed with this so far. Maybe in a few years they will have the issues worked out. If size of vehicle isn’t a issue... I’d recommend a 2017 Acadia! Drove way better from the get go. Good pick up. Just smaller and body I didn’t like as much as traverse. Choose wisely y’all! It’s a big investment!

Decent vehicle, but cannot wait to trade it in..

Overall I like the car and it is exactly what I was looking for, a 7 passenger SUV with captains chairs in the second row. I chose this one over others I had driven because it is the largest in it's class and I like that I can fit a 4'long box in the back without having to adjust the second row. I also liked the way it drove, especially when compared to the Acadia and Durango, although I wish it had a little more power. There are a handful of things that have popped up over the last year that haven't been updated for 2019 and are, at least in my mind, reasons I won't be purchasing another: -You cannot shut off the auto stop. I hate this feature and have driven 100 other cars that have the option to shut it off -The front passenger window is auto down but not auto up. This is a pretty basic feature that I think should at least be available in the Premier trim level and isn't. REALLY annoying. -The crappy, manual, plastic sunroof covers -The USBs that barely ever work and the one behind the dash has never worked -The lack of cup holders in the 2nd row. The alleged cup holders in the door don't work for anything and have caused more spills than they have saved. This is a pretty big miss for an SUV

The most comfortable car I've owed

I bought my Traverse after I was given one to drive while my Equinox was being repaired at a dealership. I knew then it would be my next vehicle. I loved the roominess of the interior and the features. I have teenage daughters and a dog and when we drive north to our cottage and the girls pack like we're going to be gone for a month and I never had enough room in my Equinox for the two girls and the dog and luggage with this vehicle I can fit everything in the back and if they bring friends along I have room for them too and nobody is crowded. I also I really like the way Chevrolet redesigned the exterior I think it's much nicer looking than the previous models. The only thing I do not care for is there is no adjustment on the driver's seat belt or the front passenger seat belt it is to high for my height I am 5 foot 2 and it cuts into my neck and I would like to be able to pull that down. I had that feature with my Equinox and with my two GMC Terrains I previously owned but that is the only flaw I can see.

Best vehicle purchase I've made

I love the traverse. It's easily accessible from all areas. More than adequate leg room in the second row for long-legged teens and adults. All the bells and whistles on the Premier are awesome. Smooth quiet ride.

software problem not resolved

I have owned my car for almost a year but had a frightening experience last week. The check engine light came on and the car was only semi- responsive to the accelerator so it slowed down to about 30 and actually “bucked”. Long story short when I got it to the dealer, it took a few hours, they were able to reset the computer in the car so it was drive able. They admitted it was a know software glitch but there is currently no known solution. I even tried calling customer service and they returned the call a day later with the same disturbing news: known problem, no known fix so no one can predict when it will happen again. I was not driving fast at the time but am extremely worried to be on a highway if this situation reoccurs. I don’t get the feeling this is a top priority for them because when I pushed for answers, the customer service rep kept saying “ it was proprietary”!!

Excellent SUV

The Traverse is absolutely outstanding. I've owned a lot of SUV's but this one is the best. Lot's of room, very comfortable seats, great visibility, seating for 7 with two, two and three. Love the walk through instead of flipping a seat up. Center seats are also adjustable so back seat passengers can get some leg room. All the safety features and camera's make for an outstanding driving experience. Hidden storage in rear is also a great asset for keeping lots of items out of site.

Love the size, shape, handling, mileage & hitech

Early 7-17 production, serial # under 120 currently with 11K+ miles running on original computer programming. Operation has been impressive and flawless to date. Oil/filter changes only. Transmission with new clutch mechanism has a more solid feel in the lower gears like a manual tranny - likely what many might mistake as a "shudder" if gas pedal is jerked. GMs doing something right - 29-30+ mpg highway running a 310 hp V6 engine which will 0-60 in lower 6+ sec.

Good vehicle

This car does what we bought it for so far. We have not yet trailered with it, so the jury is still out. It seems to have adequate power. It could have better arm rests.

Great Family Ride

Sporty exterior, Luxurious interior. Very spacious 7 seater with the largest cargo I've seen in an SUV. Great modern technology. Has it's very own wifi and plenty of USBS throughout the vehicle. Every other SUV owner will regret not purchasing a traverse.
