Sporty looking electric

Not great mileage on a charge, about 40 miles. But that's usually enough to get you to work and back with some charge remaining. It's great having the fuel though. So, when the battery is drained, you still have about 250 of fuel range. Put it in Sport Mode for a little boost in power at lower speeds.

Can't beat an electric ride

Over the 66,000 miles I have put on the chevy volt, I continue to have a lifetime average of 116mpg. The chevy volt is perfect for around town and for road trips.

I love driving without gas in total comfort!

The Chevy Volt is a wonderful car, it plugs in to a standard household plug, and has a gasoline generator that kicks in seamlessly once the battery is depleted. With instant torque, one gear (both on battery and generator), and very comfortable seating and storage, it is a great way to get around in comfort, around town, or on a trip. The generator is incredibly efficient, on a 1800 mile trip, we fueled up 3 times. The money saved on gasoline and maintenance, the use of EV lane, made this car an easy choice for our family.

I love this car

I test drove a second generation Chevy Volt and I test drove a prison. I've got to say this car fits my needs so much better than the prius. I've driven about 550 miles since I filled the gas tank and still have 2/3,of the tank full . It's not a race car and if you drive more than 45 miles a day you'll use some gasoline .But it is comfortable and quiet with room for four and a good size area for whatever you buy at the grocery store. I'm happy with this purchase.

Drives like our BMW, economical, electric/gas.

One of the best vehicles we've ever owned. Drives solid like our BMW. Highest safety ratings, which was a priority. Standard 220 regular outlet plug in electric power up to 34 miles, then seamlessly converts to gas generator power which gets unbelievable milage, 93 highway/95 city. It utilizes brakes to recapture energy, so more miles in city with stop and go traffic. Torque is unbelievable, uphill power far excels regular motor vehicles. It came with a Bose sound system/speakers, no distortion, perfect bass/treble, excellent. I used to compete with stereo systems, so my standards are high. This is a great way to transition into electric vehicles. Has true seating for 4 adults, with comfort, and hatchback with ample space for luggage/groceries. A complete pleasure to drive, no regrets on this purchase. Ready to buy another one (or more) to pass this one onto our children.

Simply the Most Misunderstood Car on the Planet

I purchase a 2012 Volt back in 2013. I drove it for four years. The car was simply amazing. It handled extremely well. The Volt was quick, spirited, and fun. Generally, in the spring, summer, and fall, I usually got around 35-45 miles on the battery depending on terrain, technique, and temperature. In the winter, in very cold months, blasting the heater, I would get sub 30 miles on the battery with 22 miles being the the absolute worst I ever got. Don't let that fool you though. I drove the car for 48k miles before trading it. During that time, I averaged 116 mpg overall and my wife and two daughters used it as our go to vehicle. We drove it on many long trips many many times. I have never had a car that always brought me such joy to drive. I have recently traded my Volt in for a 2016 and I have to say, it is simply more of a great thing. Chevy should really advertise the Volt. It is such a great car and even though this car was released in 2010, many people still don't know much about it. And what they do know, is often very flawed with negatives. Too bad, the Volt is awesome.

Amazingly Reliable & Inexpensive Electric

Bought a 2012 for $13K and some change with 40K miles. After 19 months of ownership we have had no service calls or problems, and used only a half dozen tanks of gas. The battery and electric powertrain warranty of 8 years/100K miles is phenomenal and driving all electric NEVER gets old. I love that this car is whisper quiet, smooth, feature packed and handles like a sports car if you choose to drive it that way. Incredible engineering package and averages over 130 mpg.

First American Car

I purchased this 2012 Volt used about 3 1/2 months ago with 34,000 miles on it, My first concern was that the range on electric was only abut 27 miles, which has to do with it being a Maine winter. (Heated leather seats a necessity here.) Also the generator engine kicks in for about 5 minutes to warm the battery when temps are below 25 degrees. My commute is about 12 miles each way, mostly highway, and my office has a 240 volt charger, so I'm all electric most of the time. I did drive about 115 miles each way to MA to see how it goes on the generator, and it was fine. My usual drive mode is Sport for extra torque and "L" for regenerative braking, which gives you deceleration similar to downshifting in a manual transmission car. The Sport setting gives a noticeable boost in acceleration, not unlike the turbo in my Saab 9-3. The car moves well, getting to highway speed quickly and if I'm not careful I'll top 90 mph without noticing, so it is no slouch and doesn't strain to keep up or ahead of traffic. Solid and heavy, goes well in the snow but the low cowl scrapes my driveway apron and would likely get mired in deep snow, but we didn't get much snow this winter so I didn't have a chance to find out. I'm warming to the styling, looks like a stealth battleship. I wouldn't call it sporty, but it handles well with firm suspension. The spoiler rattles, tightened up by the dealer but has recurred. I hope they can fix it again for good. It was a choice between this car and a used Leaf but decided to go with the Volt and very glad I did. Looking forward to trading up to the Bolt or Tesla when they are available, but for now the limited range in electric is sufficient for my daily needs and you have the generator at your disposal so no worries if the battery gets depleted.
