5 years 70,000 miles I still love it

In the Los Angeles Orange County California area traffic is always very heavy. Being able to use the drive to carpool lane is a definite plus.Excellent comfort, performance, and reliability makes this car a great buy.

Great car.

Very reliable, no issues in 15 months. Cost of my commute, 30 miles for less than $0.50. 13k miles, 10.5k on elec., 2.5k on gas, still haven't used 60 gallons of gas. No range anxiety, took on 3 day 550 mile trip, still got over 52 mpg total, 3 people on board with luggage, 120 miles on electric. I do run the ice under 35 degrees for heat in the winter. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

No better commuter out there

It has been a pleasure driving this car to work every day. Its flexible having about 30-40 miles pf charge and a 300 mile range gas tank. It has never let me down. The leather interior is nice and comfortable. The audio system is powerful and crisp. The hatchback is fantastic for transporting all kinds of stuff around. It's not the most fun car to drive, since its a bit slow, but I have literally spent 0 dollars in the gas station in the past 2 months.

cool ride

every six months I have to burn 4 gallons of fuel because the car's computer shows gas is going stale. start the day with 40+miles of electric range, my usual daily drive is around 25 miles. no range anxiety with the gas engine for a backup. so quiet, quick and smooth riding. the brakes last a long time due to regenerative braking. best car i ever owned

Electric car fantastic value used

Bought a used 2013 Volt with just 19000 miles in 2017 for more than 60% off the original sticker price. Factory rated 38 miles per charge but I have averaged about 52 miles per charge in warm weather. Gas backup will last around 300 more miles when full. Great gas cost savings as I will never need gas until maybe winter when electric range decreases. Be sure to shop around electric rates/providers. Design is optimized for everyday commute and local driving, as opposed to long-distance highway trips where Prius-like hybrids get better fuel economy. Nevertheless comfortable for multi-hour trips for a 5'7", 160 lb male. These cars are hard t find used, especially ones with under 35000 miles (in 2017) and they sell fast, but are superior value over new models at $40000.

The Chevy Volt Delivers In Every Category

Over all I think the generation one Chevrolet Volt is one of the best values your money can buy if you are in the used car market. I purchased the vehicle used for 13,999 before tax, title, and fees and have never once regretted doing so. On long 300 plus mile trips I average 40 to 45 miles per gallon and have saved thousands driving on electricity during my 15,000 miles of ownership. I have had zero problems with reliability and GM has honored their warranty with zero hassle and has provided excellent service at a very nice local Chevrolet Dealership - Elm Chevrolet. I know this sounds like an ad for the Chevy Volt, but I am just an extremely satisfied customer. For instance, I was rear ended one day in the Volt at no fault of my own and was able to drive away from the scene with no injury while the other vehicle had to be towed away in pieces. Thankfully everyone walked away fine and the incident was handled properly and with ease. The Volt has personally saved me thousands of dollars, kept me extremely safe, been extremely reliable, and has been one of the best cars I have ever driven and owned. The interior is quiet, comfy, easy to clean, and provides you an easy to use white center console that makes you feel like you are driving something from the future. AND WAIT! Theres more! After driving the Chevy Volt for 15,000 miles and switching to very exspensive luxury cars I have to ask: Why doesn't every new car come with one pedal driving via regenerative breaking? To me thats true luxury and my preowned Volt delivered it for only 13,999! Honestly, I never thought I would own or drive a Chevy. Let alone think so highly of one. I would like to thank the men and woman of UAW22 in Detroit who assembled my Volt and everyone at GM for building one of the best cars I think money can buy. Having said all of that, I am currently looking at a new Chevrolet Bolt EV to get even more safety features and to never have to buy gas again. I have been hurt by several other auto companies especially Ford and VW but GM has truly gone the extra mile in providing me everything I could ask for in owning a vehicle and sometimes went even further regardless of my car being pre-owned and not a certified preowned vehicle. Im not sure if I will find new roads in a Bolt EV, but I am sure I will enjoy every road I find myself driving in one. Chevy delivered such a great used car owning experience that I cannot wait to buy a new car from them! I truly hoped this helped you decide whether or not to purchase a generation one Volt and I want to thank Cars.com for giving me this platform to speak my truth! If you purchase a used Volt with 20,000 to 30,000 miles on it like I did you will come out ahead! You cannot go wrong! Have a great day! - FrostIvan

Will never revert back to a regular gasoline car.

From the instant electric torque to the silent powertrain, this car is amazing! Highly recommend to anyone trying to lessen their dependence on gasoline!

Most fun car to drive and live with I've owned

Prior to this, I had a 2010 Camaro; People think i am crazy for saying the Volt is more fun to drive. The instant torque and no shifting required means acceleration is instant. Not as quick as the Camaro, but not slow. The silent nature of the electric engine and no pause for shifting means it feels just as quick as the camaro V6 does. Forward collision alert and lane departure warning are 2 must have features in the future. If it saves you from one distracted moment, it has more than paid for its self. I do like the interior lay out. My one issue is that i wish the leather was perforated. Economy wise, through my ownership I usually get over 200 mpg, as I very rarely use gas at all. On the electricity side, I generally beat the EPA estimated 38 mile range by about 10, if I do use the whole battery capacity. EPA rating is 35kwh/100mi, I generally get slightly better than this at about 31kwh/100mi.
