2009 challenger se

i bought the car 1 year ago with 19 k miles. Since than, i put about 2500 miles on it and love its look and ride. 26MPG and the v6 has power to spare. the car is still worth what i paid for it a year ago. Why spend 45k for a srtr8 when the se looks the same. you can always buy a rear spoiler, 20 inch wheels and striping. i also have a 73 that my son drives and we go to shows together, both red, new and old

True Muscle Car

The SRT8 with the 6 speed is a true muscle car with great looks, comfort, and amazing power! It allows for someone with kids to own the vehicle as the backseats are actually functional versus the "Pony Cars" (Mustang/Camaro).

Why don't they market these better?

I ordered my R/T with no options other than the TorRed paint in February '09 and took delivery that March. - the salesman said I "ordered it like a race car", but I was just trying to keep the price as low as I could. My previous dalily drive was a '97 Dakota SLT (and before that a "68 Dart), so the base R/T has plenty of bells and whistles for me. I now have 40k on it (mostly back & forth to Boston) and it's NEVER been back to the dealer. It gets as many "thumbs up" as my '64 Barracuda, even when it's filthy! The "good old days" are today - 14 second quarters with 25 mpg on the highway - it wasn't like that in 1970! Sure, access to the back seat could be better, and roll down rear quarter windows would have been an improvement, but two years later, and I don't see me replacing it for years to come!

Amazing

I finally am the proud owner of a Dodge Challenger R/T. I bought mine a couple weeks ago and I bought used. 2009 with only 3100 miles on it. This car is everything I could ask for. I test drove a mustang gt and a camaro ss and both did not compare. yes horsepower wise they beat the mopar but as far as room for someone who is 6'3 they dont compare. My head hit the ceiling in the camaro and had no room to shift in the stang. By far this car is the best looking out of the group. The stock dual exhaust sounds great. Its comfortable to take on road trips. I just love this car. If you can, buy one. Now I am thinking of getting the new 392 and jumping 100 ponies.....

It was Love At First Sight

If you just like the looks get the Se model. It will save you thousand$. If you like the feel and experience of driving a true muscle car then pony up a few more dollars and get the R/T model. It can come with todays conveniences (like heated seats, sunroof, side curtain airbags, etc.) but still feel like it stepped out of old Detroit ready to R-U-M-B-L-E-!!! I drove a 2010 Challenger SE (lightly used) for a month and enjoyed it quite a bit. People would stop to comment on how cool it looked but eventually would ask me about performance. Sadly, that's where my love affair with the SE ended. The SE is all Show-No Go. Realizing that my relationship with the SE would never grow past the "Just Good Friends" stage I ventured out into the car market again. This time armed with the knowledge learned from costly experience, I set my sights (and checking account balance) higher and went in search of the HEMI! My search for true love was quick. Just a few cities away I found her, a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T, bright orange, who I call Tiger. Grrrrrrrrrr! She'll make your heart race! Although she looked very similar to SE, her racing stripes told me she was not a plain Jane. After gently urging her through a few miles of a "test drive" I knew all I needed to know about my Tiger. She was a real BEAST inside! The R/T is not the meek but personable SE, nor is it the pricey SrT8. It is the perfect combination of Sunday School Teacher and Bad Girl. I got the 5-speed automatic w/sport shifting. The 6-speed manual may be more fun but that is personal preference. Either way you get @ 375 hp if you want it, or the miserly 25mpg (same as SE) if you so choose. At this early stage in our relationship, I only give my baby PREMIUM gasoline and she, in turn, is always ready to run the streets with me, driving all the old men crazy. Perhaps after the Honeymoon we'll settle-down and be more conservative but for now it's PEDAL TO THE METAL !

Believeably horrid

So I got off my high horse and thought i'd try something other then GM's finest cars and go with a Mopar... BIG MISTAKE!!!! Exterior styling is EXACTLY like the 1 from the 70's (doesnt Mopar know how to re-design anything???) and ugh. Thats not all of it, also not as good performance as the newer Camaro but I must say these seats are comfortable enough to be a daily driven car, just unfortunate that the MPG's are AWFUL. This is far from an ugly car, its just Mopar/Dodge has no immagination at all! Too heavy, and yeah this is gonna be traded in for probably a 2010 Camaro SS or if Chevy gives the 2011 Camaro the Z28. I'll just have to bare with this in the meen time.

You have to have the SRT!

I've had my SRT for 8 months now, and it's always fun to drive. It makes my weekends so much more enjoyable. Don't buy this car if you don't want people drooling over the car and asking questions each time you stop and the gas station. Dodge has hit a home run with the Challenger. There's nothing on the road today that is more satisfying to drive and look at!

Muscle car re-born Challenger R/T

Car gets the thumbs-up even from the younger set that wasn't around for the first generation. Excellent power on regular fuel, even though mid grade is recommended. If you are looking for MPG, this is probably not the car you're looking for but 23+ hwy isn't bad! Interior is very comfortable on long trips, faux carbon fiber on console a nice touch, but instrument panel could use some upgrading, looks bland especially around gauges. V8 drive train is bullet proof. Nice exhaust burble around 2300 RPM. This car is holding its value in the market. Wouldn't be suprised if V8 powered examples become collectible in the future.
