A Great Truck

I bought my Quad Cab 4 years ago and am still very pleased with it. Mine is the V-8 4 wheel drive model. Currently I have 66000 miles on it and have not had any problems with it. I did have to replace the brakes and rotors at 64,000 miles at a cost of nearly $600. Not too bad considering most of my miles are city driving. It is very comfortable and has excellant acceleration and handling for a truck. The gas mileage is not great, I average 14 miles per gallon and slightly better on long trips. The exterior still looks great although I only park it in the garage 2 months out of the year.

Perfect truck for me!

I got this truck new & have enjoyed owning it.I have the 3.7 auto,SLT and it has been very reliable. The 2 wheel drive model gets 23+ milage to & from work,if you drive smart! It got over 23 mpg from Michigan to Florida , loaded with gear!Even tho the interior is alittle cheap in spots,it is built very solid,so that makes up for it...I took the back seat out of the club cab & that gave me tons of room for gear or my Dog!Glad I got the last year for this design, cause I like it better than the New Dakota.Have fun out there!

great gas saver

I own an 3.7 automatic dakota it's very reliable with great gas milage me and my wife make 2 to 3 trips a year to arkansas from georgia and it's gotten over 20 miles to the gallon on every trip. It is a little week on low end power when towing but once up to speed it pulls good though. The only thing I could wish for though is more available after market accessories and if it had a little tighter turning radius. But over all it has proven it's worth every day.

VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS TRUCK

As a long-time Chrysler/Dodge owner, since 1959 I have owned more than 75 new vehicles; this has been the most disappointing vehicle I have ever had (other than an '83 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale). This Dakota Quad Cab, 4x4, 4.7 litre V8, auto, 5 speed, A/C, PS, PDB, etc. has great looks and I receive many compliments on its appearance. BUT the fuel economy is PITIFUL ( 12 city and 17 mpg highway) with a light foot on the accelerator. The other MAJOR downfall is the brakes...which needed replacing at just 36,000 miles...all 4 wheels, discs and pads...$1000.00 at the local Chrysler/Dodge dealer, and I'm really easy on brakes - never having had to have a brake job ever before. If Chrysler/ Dodge were to offer the 3.5l six and better quality brakes in the Dakota they would have a winner, but until then...no more Dakotas for me!!!

Dakota is Awesome

I love my Dakota! I owned a Ford Ranger prior to my Dakota and would take a Dakota over any other small/medium truck on the market. Good power with the 4.7 V-8 and a surpisenly smooth ride. Only draw back is with the larger V-8 gas milage is not good especially for a person who also owns a Durango with a 5.9 V-8. Overall great truck and I would recommend this truck to any one.

Perfect size and comfort

My only complaint is there are blind spots on either side of the windshield where the roof supports are thicker than most vehicles. Overall, I love it.
