I bought fords since I was15 , had to wait 2 months to drive at 16_ , I had 50 -60 cars , 95 % fords, bought a new 2014 escape ,,the transmission has clunked into 6th gear since the first day. Sometimes in other gears it acts like its looking for a gear to shift into, ford says its fine, intake it in every 4-5000 miles for oil change and transmission xx. , tire press lite comes on every 2000 miles , they reset it, say its fine I had a blowout going 70 mph yesterday. Car has 44000 miles on it . I have been a car /semi mechanic 50 yes. Last ford I prob. Will buy . They say, buy the warranty, I say fix it with current warranty. I also have a 1993 ranger ,love it, and a 1969 fair lane 500 , love it. , ford escape ? Hmmm maybe Toyota next time.

Do not buy this car
I inherited this car from my father who purchased it brand new and it has been the biggest disappointment. My father hardly drove it the two years prior yet right after I took over the car, the warranty was over and the engine completely stopped working. I started getting Engine Fault errors and the car would shake and sort of stall while driving. Very scary! I took it into the dealership and the car was one week past warranty and they said it was wired incorrectly in the factory and would cost me close to $1,000 to repair. It is now approximately 3 months later and the EXACT same scenario is currently taking place. I have had the Engine Fault warning on my car all week and while I don't know the synopsis yet, it's currently at the dealer, I can guarantee it will be another major fix. Last time I called dealership supervisors and managers to try to get them to come down significantly in price since it was clearly a manufacturer error and they conveniently never were available or never called back. I called every day for a month. Needless to say I will be trading this car in and NEVER purchasing a Ford again.

Never buy a Ford again
Ford escape SE 2014 eco-boost is a vehicle that I would not buy again due to the fact it in the front there's no room for larger people if someone does in the front they have is put the seat back so far that the one right behind them has no room and then also the The compartment on the floor behind me passenger seat is kind of a stupid place to put because in the winter people sit back there all the water and slush gets down into there so if you have anything in there it's ruined and my Kia Spectra five hatchback had just him as much room as this stupid vehicle

My Great Escape
I owned a 2008 Ford Escape and traded it in with 200,000 miles. I decided to look at the 2014 Ford Escape and love the features. We bought the Titanium package and love the features and performance (2.0 turbocharged). The rear assist lift gate is also handy. The controls can be a little confusing at first but very safety oriented. Love the turning radius and the keyless feature. The projector headlights and led running lights help with seeing clearly at night. Great little car at a great price. We bought used with 36,000 miles on it. The main reason was for all wheel drive in the snow and it handles flawlessly.

Battery issues
Don't Buy this car, battery impossible to get to you can get a jump start and fords service hours are ridiculous and you pretty much have to go to them because of where the battery is. Any other service center charge ridiculous labor because of the placement of the battery. So ford has you stuck. Horrible design .i have to wait days for a battery through them and be without a car for days.

@014 Ford Escape - excellent value
Stylish, solid handling with outstanding persormance in a compact SUV. The 2L I04 (DOHC, direct injection, turbo) puts out 240hp, making it the fastest, hands down, compact SUV. Better with 4WD to avoid torque over-steer. Handles very well - surprising. Excellent visibility and breaking - important to me. At 65mph I'm turing only about 1,800-1,900 rpm so good mileage on highway. City stop and go is 15mpg here in norethern NJ. Good cargo capacity. Back seats not too comfortable but I have little use of such. My 2L came with slightly over-sized tires which I liked and were needed. All in all, amazing vehicle and I heartily recommend.

Pros and cons - for the money, this is a winner
I like to do extensive comparisons before buying a vehicle. We were looking for a Rav4, CRV, or Cherokee, but then a friend bought an Escape, so I did a comparison for fun. The Escape has all the bells and whistles of the others, and we found it at a great price. The past average reliability of the Ford line hasn't matched the others, but this generation Escape might change that. Now driving a 2014 with 110,000 miles on it and it drives like new.

excessive noise
my 2014 Ford Escape has alot of air noise. The engine runs loud, sounds like a diesel, inside and outside the vehicle. the dealer says that's normal for this year. would like to hear from other owners.
