I always come back to the F150s!!

Like all trucks, things can go wrong. Maintenance is the life of all vehicles. But for myself, i have owned many trucks and i have always came back to the Ford F150. It's always been a comfortable ride with plenty of leg room and very dependable! 266k miles and still going!

Best vehicle I've owned (out of about 10)...

Bought my 1999 F-150 Lariat with 299,000kms on it in August 2015. It was owned by one family since new and dealer-maintained regularly. It drives like a car, but has tons of power to tow my bass boat. In the past year and a bit I had to replace the ignition coils ($600) and fuel pump ($780), but other than that, no problems at all.

Excellent Truck

Mine is a V-6 five speed. She is about to roll 300,000 miles. Interior and exterior wise she looks like a 90,000 mile vehicle. I have put shocks on her and she needs stabilizer bushings. The mileage has never been as good as I would like. About 16.5 mpg on the road. But 300,000 miles is a long walk. I give her a solid five stars.

Reliable workhorse of a truck

Bought this truck at 3 years old and 36,000 miles. Now is 16 years old with 200,235 miles. Very reliable during her service life with a few repairs needing a Saturday to deal with. At truck's peak got 19mpg with a flat bed cover. V6 a bit noisy when under load but strong engine. Cabin very comfortable, even after 13 years of driving, no problems with the seat, seatbelts, or controls. A few complaints, though: 3 of the 6 exhaust manifold outlets rusting out with no way to repair save replacement (very difficult to work on the OHV V6). Also power steering during turns sounds like a relief valve venting, can hear hissing and has done that all her service life. Overall best vehicle I have ever owned and am looking for another Ford F-150 in the near future (need a backseat for family now).

14 YEARS OF SERVICE

Fantastic vehicle, has been an honor and pleasure driving this vehicle miles and miles across country, up mountain roads, through mud and New England snowstorms. Servicing costs are standard with most trucks, the older they become the more it cost you. No huge problems, if you think a $1500.00 service cost is expensive then don't buy a truck. At the 15 year point and 155,500 miles unexplainable problems start to occur. She won't start after driving for an hour. Just sitting in the parking lot, all electrical works but no engine turn over. Towed to the garage same problem, busy garage- next day she starts up no problems found, and they checked everything plus rechecked after I asked them about certain parts-nothing. Another time drove for 15-20 minutes hauling stuff to dump, parked, 5 mins later she won't start -nothing. Towed to the garage, off the tow truck she starts up? My brother -in- law is a mechanic and was on site when this happened tried everything with nothing working. But other than that a very good vehicle. Now she will be used for farm work, not reliable enough to risk going on the highway and getting stuck in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday and no cell phone reception.

Can't wait 2 buy new ford truck

We have owned our f150 5.4 V8 for 13 years best truck we have owned by far. We have owned 2 small Toyota trucks that had small issues. This truck has towed from 2500-6500 lb trailers on our vacations (we rented). It is a work horse. If you need a great used truck don't be worried buy one of these, ours has 130,000 miles only reason we will sell is to get the new diesel or Eco boost.

Money Pit

Good power from the 5.4L engine. Traction-Lok rear axle gave it superior traction. Constant front end problems with ball joint and tie rod end failures. Driver's door developed stress crack near window, right of door handle. Ford failed to adress it. Power locks stopped functioning at 100, 000 kms. Intermitting odometer indicator. Exhaust manifolds rusted out prematurely. Constant calliper replacement required. They were prone to sticking after only a year. Wiper arm mechanism failed twice during heavy rain and required dis-assembly to repair linkage, a real pain in snow storms/rain. AC compressor failed and truck would not turn over (stranded). Had to lift engine to replace the compressor. Under carriage plaqued with excessive rust despite yearly under coating. I always had a Ford/Mercury trucks & cars and had no issues with reliability until this truck (spent $$$ on this vehicle). Have switched to BMW and will not likely buy anymore North American vehicles from now on.

This truck will never die!

This truck never stranded me and never refused to do anything on or off road. This is by far the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned and all of the repairs or replacements were completely predictable. It even got good gas mileage for a truck.
