Most reliable truck I've owned

Bought my F-150 supercrew King Ranch pickup new and have only replaced a battery, 4 tires and changed spark plugs at 100,000 miles. it now has 106,000 miles and still looks in real good condition.change oil every 3000 miles and filter.I do everything myself to make sure it is done right.

2003 F-150 4.6L V8 Review

2003 Ford F-150 Crew Cab 4.6L 2v V8 2WD (Engine&Transmission) 236hp might now sound like alot by today's standerds were pickups can make in excess of 400hp but for what it was the little 4.6L V8 was suprisingly powerful, Dare I even say...Punchy? It would certinly beak the rear tires free of the pavement if pressed hard from a dead stop. Often time's I found myself cruising at 80mph without even realizing it. Towing does slow things down some but for the most part it works well. The 4-speed transmission is a little slower than I would have perfered but It got the job done. My biggest complaint was that it was reluctant to downshift on the highway, thus not utlizing the 4.6L's power to its full potental. (Brakes) Brakes were strong, and worked very well. I never felt unsafe with them. It also had a very nice pedal feel. (Ride&Handling) The ride was a tad on the stiff side. Not unbarable, but it is bested by the Chevy Avalanch in this department. Handling however was much more impressive. The tight suspension on the truck made taking quick turns an enjoyable experience. Steering however was a tad on the slow side, and felt a little overboosted. (Interior&Inital Quality) I experienced no mechanical failurs with this truck, However the interior was a little sub-par. The Dashboard plastic's were hard and lacked the grainy look. Just smooth low grade plastic. The dash also had some pretty noticble fit and finish issues. Gaps and things of that nature. (The Driving Experience) The little 4.6L provides suprising torque around town, Though could use a little more top end for those highway romps. Pulling trailers within reasonable size won't bother the 4.6L either. The old school 4-speed transmission is bound to feel slow and dated by todays standerd wich is a smart thinking 6-speed auto. However slow, Its shifs are smooth. Offroad the truck performed admirbly, For having streetable tires and only being 2WD it managed to truck right threw loose sand like nothing. (Pros) Punchy V8 engine Lots of utility Very Reliable Solid feeling cabin area Handles quite well Offroad prowess (Cons) Interior quality not up to par Stiff jiggly ride V8 does not sound as refined as others (Summery) All and all this truck should satisy most. If you plan on doing any heavy towing though I would opt for the 5.4L over the 4.6L.

Best truck so far...

I bought by 2003 Super Crew Cab new and I have put over 120,000 miles on it with no issues. It is very comfortable and has great visibility. I tow a trailer periodically and the excellent handling is welcome. If I have any complaint, it would be that the brakes are a liitle bit lacking compared to some other vehicles that I drive. This truck replaced a 1998 Ford King Cab, and I'm sure my next vehicle will be a Ford truck as well.

Great Truck

I bought this truck off my grandfather and it had only 9,000 miles on it. I loved this truck and used it when ever i could. We used the truck to haul for the local Marching band every friday night during the fall. One thing that i am not happy about is the gas millage. Even when I would only drive on the highway and set the cruse i would still only get about 14.7 miles to the gallon. I slid on some black ice 3 weeks ago and totaled the truck. all that could be saved was the bed and 3 of the rims. the thing is I walked away and didn't even go to the hospital. This truck is very safe and is a great truck. I would love to buy another one but with gas over $3.00 a gallon and still in college it will have to wait.

Great truck

ive had this truck for 4 years and its been great no trouble at all and its just beautiful. It has a great amoutn of power and hauls anything ive thrown at it. I have the longbed model so it was a bit of a pain for 4 wheeling but had made it thruogh death valley without a scratch. Fuel economy is great considering the amount of power you get (roughly 17mpg). Its a ford really cant go wrong with that
