Great driving, but unreliable.

Have a 2.7l and love the way it drives. Great peppy engine. Never been a Ford guy because I believe them to be unreliable and I was right. The day I picked the truck up it was leaking oil and had a defective oil ring in the turbos. After that I was in he bush and the traction control applied the brakes and would not shut off leaving me grinding home ( a loose connector I'm told). Next the speedometer would get stuck and was not reading speeds accurately and had to be replaced. A safety factor. Now the door locks inconsistently they do not lock or do not unlock and I have to have them all replaced. I am also having trouble with the sync not consistently connecting to phones. The paint is unbelievably easy to scratch even a leasurely drive past a few twigs will do it. Too bad such a nice driving truck is secretly an unreliable monster. I keep thinking "what's next, time for a trade in". Cost of ownership is good since it's great on gas but it's going to cost me money if I keep it in future repairs and I will likely loose money trading it in.

Most comfortable truck I have ever owned

Quiet ride, great gas mileage and excellent acceleration, even when pulling a trailer, makes this the best truck I have ever owned.

2015 Platinum

Great truck, but has some issues. The aluminum body has its plus' but driving against a strong S. Texas wind I keep waiting for the hood to fly off. I have never seen a hood move up and down like this vehicle. I have the full moonroof and it rattles every time I drive on a rough street. Body makes a creaking noise while driving on a uneven road. Military grade? Vehicle only has 8500 miles. Left over 2015 model when the 2017 models were arriving on the lot. This is a Platinum model. I've never owned a vehicle like this. Always bought an XLT.

WOW! Great Truck

I've had my 2015 F-150 2.7 ecoboost for almost a year now. I bought the cheapest available, an XT extended cab with not much in it. I came from a fully loaded Chevy Avalanche. I absolutely LOVE this truck and hopefully after 7 years my fenders won't rust through after like my Avalanche did (which I also bought brand new). This truck is quick and pulls my 22ft. center counsel boat better than my Chevy Avalanche ever did. Great gas mileage as long as I keep my foot out of the turbos, but if you need the power it's there. 10 mpg pulling the boat 70 mph, 19 over all and 22 highway at 75-80 mph. Smooth ride and the motor doesn't sound like a little 6 banger. Have not had any problems and in two weeks it gets to pull the boat from Minnesota to Florida and back can't wait! Great truck for us average guys that need a truck for some pulling but want good gas mileage most of the time.

Electronics

When I turn the key off, I want the truck to turn off. I do not want the lights to remain on for 5 minutes. The radio is in comprehensivable and I have an engineering degree. The four wheel drive is worthless unless there is 1000 lbs in the bed. Do not loose one of the two keys you are given. You will have to have your truck towed and it will cost you 400 bucks to get the second key made. This is not a working truck. It is a car.

The perfect truck for me

This truck is exactly what I was looking for. It is comfortable, peppy, and fun to drive. It is capable of carrying and/or towing anything the average person might want to handle. This one has the twin-turbo 2.7 L V-6, which is yielding about 22 MPG in mixed driving conditions.

TIN ROOF

can't carry on a conversation when it rains, TURBO LAG is a nag, body panel alignment reminded me of my first model car I put together. I'm 1 yr I put 10000 miles on it and it had sqeaks and rattled coming from all around the interior. Had to trade it in and took a huge hit, but if I had kept it much longer it would have only depreciated that much more, long term test results have confirmed that they had similar experiences.

IT a truck that feels like large suv

Our truck is supercab XTR with v8/ loaded for towing We average all day highway mileage of 20.5 to 21.0 mpg (Canadian gallon=4.54 liters) City stop and go about 16.9mpg This unit is used all winter for safe driving in the worst weather. This truck is by far more vehicle than dodge and chev with its there old engines. Ford didn't,t take handouts and it shows in there innovation and style. GM will probably fail and dodge is not far behind. If ford stays true to it heritage prices will sofen when the other are unable to compete. PS when the nisson and Toyota can,t compete or beat ford you know you have a winner.

New Level for Trucks

The new aluminum Ford trucks with ecoboost engines are a whole level above the rest. With proper care the bodies will last indefinitely. The weight savings increase economy and performance. The real innovation lies in the boosted engines. Power as required and economy when cruising along or around town. Now with a year of driving I marvel at the innovation Ford has employed. While the other makers play around with the old technology and tweak this and that Ford has made breakthrough innovations. I could not be more satisfied with the 2.7l 4x4 we purchased. On all the driving so far it is getting 24 mpg (US gallon) and performs flawlessly. What more can we ask of a 4x4 with tons of power when called on?

One awesome machine

Bought my XLT SuperCab 2WD 5.0 certified used with 17,--- miles. I currently have just over 28,000 and could not be happier. I didn't really want a full size truck initially, I was in the market for a Tacoma/Ranger. But I shopped around and found what I felt was a good deal so I just bit the bullet and bought it. I was indecisive as to whether to get the 5.0 or the 2.7 EB, as both have similar performance, capability, and price. But I was leery about the long term reliability of a twin turbo 2.7 in a full size pickup, so I chose the V8. To say this truck exceeded my expectations would be an understatement. This thing is a beast when you want it to be, and a comfortable, quiet, relatively fuel efficient ride when you don't. I cannot say enough about the capability of the 5.0, it absolutely rocks in every way. It makes 385hp and will burn the tires off if you feel so inclined, and then it will turn around and get 23.9 real mpg(25.1 indicated) at a steady, flat 60mph at sea level. Even around town, I'm averaging 19.3 real mpg with slightly aggressive right foot and light traffic. I've never seen less than 16.6mpg under any circumstances, even heavy traffic with AC on. The steering is as silky smooth and easy as a Lexus, and the cabin is super quiet unless you're on the gas hard or the road is rough. The truck will ride relatively rough if the road is less than smooth, but it's a truck that can tow 9,200lbs so I suppose I can forgive this. In my personal opinion, the door hinges/latches could use some "beefing up", they don't feel very durable, and seem a bit "creaky" and cheap(not sure if this is simply due to the aluminum construction, or inferior design, or both). They don't close as satisfyingly as say a new sedan with steel body. But that is literally the only potential flaw I can find in this truck. The engine is stout as anything, the drivetrain feels just as stout, and the durability so far(in the last 11,000 miles) has been stellar despite my heavy foot and not-so-nice treatment of it thus far. My two biggest addictions in this truck is hearing that awesome American V8 roar when I floor it at 35mph and nearly break traction launching forward past the other cars, and seeing 25+mpg avg fuel economy on 55mph back roads. My $26,700 couldn't have been better spent. Kudos Ford.
