2006 ZX3 SE Nice Car, but needs improvement
I bought my '06 Focus SE in Feb. '06. So far the car has been very reliable. I travel long distances quite often and it always gets me there with no problems. There are a few things that need improvement. The plastic wheel covers turned bright yellow after only 2k miles. The dealer replaced them, but the new ones turned yellow 3k miles after that. Another thing is that I believe all standard trans vehicles should be equipped with a tachometer. My Focus is the mid level model with std trans, the tach should not be an option, but a standard feature (as many focus owners know, holding the trip reset button while starting the car will give you access to the car's computer and you can view your RPM's digitally, but its a pain to always have to reset your trip). Also, ford needs to work on the braking system. My brakes started squealing after only 5k miles. From what I have seen, this is a problem with ALL Focuses. My best friend had a 2000 focus with the same problem, he traded it in for an '03 focus and still had the same problem. Interior styling is nice, engine performs well. Overall, a very reliable car.

Best car for a saver situation.
The Ford Focus is not only practical but price worthy. At under $20,000 it far surpases other sedan/hatchbacks in affordability. I've presonally never had any problems with handeling. Manual opens up for much better than EPA Gas Mileage. Over all it's the best car ever.

Worst Car I have ever owned
I bought this car a year ago. since then it has been in the shop at least once a month, but it is usually about once a week. The car is poorly built. The brake componants are very poor. The price is far higher than the car is worth. The car is not very menuverable, it is underpowered. It breaks down all the time. No matter what the mechanic does the breaks still squeel. I have had the front pads and rotors replaced (because the rotors warped at 16,000 miles). The rear shoes and drums have been replaced twice now. and the car still squeels. Recently at (30,300miles) I was exiting off the highway and my brake pedel froze, I couldn't move it, I kept pushing it down and my master cylinder died. The suspension is too soft, and that rattles all the time. If you are considering buying a ford focus, continue looking. There are a lot of other cars that are around the same price and significantly better, more reliable vehicles.

unimpressed with fuel economy
I still have the sticker from the window touting "31-37mpg". It has yet to achieve 28mpg and I do almost exclusively highway miles. I like the features that came with the price tag, but I was specifically looking for a fuel efficient car since I commute around 100 miles a day. This is definitely not the car for that. Even my previous 10 year old car with over 200,000 miles still got over 30mpg. What a disappointment! I am now having transmission problems as well, and it is less than a year old. It's headed to the shop tomorrow to have that checked since it is still under warranty for that at least.

loads of room, cheap price
I did extensive research on this class of wagons. after looking for one in the area I was very happy to find my focus wagon. It had less than 4000 miles for just over $12000...pays to shop on the last day of the month!! great car with lots of room, good get up and go, and great mpg.

Handles better than any import
I, being in the economy class as far as cars go decided that I would pick the ford focus because it is based on a rally design and it has a bit of bang for the buck appeal. I bought the model, much to my chagrin, without ABS because I could not afford it at the time. The second day that I had the car I was driving on the freeway a car came to a sudden stop in front of me. I braked hard and began to fear that I would lose traction. I DID in fact lose traction, but to my astonishment I maintained complete control of the car. I love the way this thing handles and would recommend it to anybody who has a taste for handling and quickness to jump out of the corner.

2003 Ford Focus 4 Door Sedan
Been pleased with the car overall. Never has failed me to start. I lost both fron t wheel bearings at 70,000 miles. Ford covered one but would not cover the other as I had to have it replaced at a nondealer garage. I have the 2 liter automatic. You have to pay attention in traffic. Averages about 32 mpg on the highway as long as I don't cram it. Very pleased with all the comfort features. Excellent sound system.

Un-Reliable
I have an 02 SVT Focus and I have never seen a car with so many consistant problems. The worst part is that Ford will not cover there own mistakes! I'll be trading it in ASAP. It's fun when it works, but it spends more time in dealership getting repaired than I do driving it.

Best Station Wagon for 5 passengers
This car is amazing. It has more internal space than any of the Volvo, Audi, BMW and Subaru Wagons, its comfortable, has a great handling and is very practical. A beautiful European design. Some people complain thatthe new Focu sold in Europe is better. Ford Europe actually made is shorter and wider, not necessarily a good thing. This is a winning design and can be bought for 1/2 the price of any of its competitors. A sure bet.
