Solid commuter car!

I have the 2014 Focus SE, basically a base model with manual transmission but heated seats and backup sensors. At around 55,000 I was leaking coolant, ended up having to do a dye test in order to find the leak, had it done at Big O, where one we tried the dye, determined that the water pump needed to be replaced. $300 later car is back to its reliable old self with only only changes needed. I now has $61,100 and running fine. My one complaint is the seat material, water stains them, outside of that, solid car.

Transmission Probel

i don't like this car in general and i don't recommend any one to own it . since i sold my old car which was 2003 since i was spending my time at maintenance and i bought this new Focus 2014 to save money and time but then i figured out that i am spending my time also at the dealer shop since it has a series problem with the transmission since it's shaking specially for low speeds and when i checked with the dealer and FORD they confirmed that this is NORRMAL and this car is designed to be like this which has no sense and up top now iam trying to resell this car since i didn't like to drive such car with a series problem from the manufacturer

BIG DISSAPOINTMENT!

BAD TRANSMISSION, BAD FUEL PUMP, HORRIBLE RESALE VALUE. BOUGHT IT USED W/38000 MILES. JUST TURNED 61000. HAS LEFT ME WALKING 2 TIMES. DEALER REPLCED FUEL PUMP AND RESET COMPUTER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON LITERALLY 100 YDS FROM DEALER. FORD QUALITY? BOUGHT IT FOR LOAN VALUE NOW WORTH 3,500 LESS THAN I OWE?!

My second Focus, would buy a third.

Upgraded from a 2007 Focus. Smooth, quiet riding and nimble vehicle. Listed as getting 37mpg hwy but have gone as high as 42.5 mpg hwy. Interior looks like it belongs in a much higher priced vehicle. Only two drawbacks- the seats are hard! I'm getting used to them but it's taking time. Second, for all of the features on this vehicle, I'm surprised that it doesn't have projector headlights. At the end of the day, I'm happy with the purchase and would buy another Focus down the road.

Great Car

I have purchased this car not to long ago and it was a great buy! It drives very smoothly and saves gas. There have been no issues with the vehicle for the past two years, and I do not recall seeing any coming! Overall, affordable car!

Best value for the price

If you want a decent car with features like bluetooth, Ford is a good choice. I test drove almost 7 different vehicles and Ford was one of the best cars. The handling and steering is pretty good. The mileage is pretty good too with about 30 mpg on average.

Cheap base starter car

Bought this car new after years of buying used cars on the "hit" or "miss" principal. Purchased 4 years 48000 mile service plan with it and it was worth it. Had the A/C system fail in the first 6 months but Ford supplied a rental during the service. A rental was also provided during recalls which helps with the inconvenience . I've tracked 99% of my fuel mileages and receipts. I can confidently claim 40+ MPG on the highway all year long and 32 MPG average mixed city highway. I would go for this car again as a base model with the manual transmission. It does have its interesting quarks and conversation starters, like power winds in the front, with crank windows in the back, built in blind spot mirrors. One nice feature that I noticed was when starting you can turn the key to start and then let go, and the car will start almost like a push button, it throws me off when I go to start older cars as you have to hold the key in the start position until it starts. It is an economy car that has a little pep for the on ramps and passing, down shift to4th or 3rd on the highway and your at 80 before you no it. The engine does sound good at higher RPMs but in 1st gear it get loud and winey/jumpy between 5-10 mph. I use 1st to start moving and shift to 2nd as soon as possible. PROS: Great gas mileage. Good power when needed. Mix of old style base features and modern upgrades where you want them most. CONS: One feature I really do no like is the traction control, as you cannot turn it off in this year and model, it makes the winter slush and snow more difficult than it needs to be and you will be bouncing the clutch trying to get power down. Suggestions: If you are looking at this Gen Focus get the manual transmission and have all the benefits of the cheap car without the issues plagued by the automatic power shift system.

Excellent value and comfortable for tall drivers

This is a fun sporty car to drive but a great value to buy and own/fuel. I am "big & tall" but still have plenty of head and leg room. The focus is comfortable to drive even long distances. The hatchback version has plenty of room to hold fishing rods & tackle boxes, camping gear, lacrosse sticks, or hockey equipment. whatever you need to haul put the back seats down and there is a lot of space available.
