I've waited long enough
I've been wanting a Ranger since 1997. I finally purchased one a few weeks ago. Its used with only 1700 miles. I can't be happier with my purchase

GREAT Little Truck!
I bought this Ranger extended cab in May 2012 - new, last on the lot, and it fit my needs perfectly: plus, many, many more options (Sports package), came with it at an excellent price. I see others complain about the ride but hey! It's a truck! Small jump seat area? Then buy a 4-door! Jeez! Don't people look at what they buy FIRST? This truck is solid and I plan on driving it way more than 100,000 miles. The 4.0 V-6 has an excellent service record as well as the Ford transmission is reported as "almost bullet proof". First new Ford I've owned..........

Too bad they stopped making them
For 11 years and over 100,000 miles, I had a Chevy S10 that I just loved. Great economy, good looks, comfortable ride and a lot of nice interior features made me wish I could buy another one just like it. Alas, Chevy quit making the S10 a few years back and introduced the Colorado, of which every review and analysis I read called it a dog. The 5 cylinder engine was slow, and not very economical. The ride was uncomfortable and stiff, and adding a few nice options drove the price out of touch. So, I considered a Ranger. I took one for a test drive and thought it was great. The V-6 paired to a 5 speed manual gets about 21 on the interstate, only a few less than my S10, and the increase in power is fantastic! The ride is smooth and quiet, and although my Ranger lacks a few options that I really miss, the reliability and styling is great. A couple of minor complaints are the lack of an interior courtesy light, a cumbersome duo of giant ignition key and seperate key fob, and considering the fact that it is a 2011 model, I felt like it should have had a standard driver information center with a compass and thermometer on the dash. The only valid major gripe I have is the access to the rear seating area in the extended cab. The passenger seat is cumbersome and difficult to move out of the way, and if anyone sits in the rear seating area, cramped as it is, they better not need to exit in a hurry. This is a poor design by Ford and should have been better thought out. All in all, I would definitely, and I have, recommend this vehicle. It is reliable, economical and a pleasure to drive. After a few years, I would hope Ford and Chevy return to the small truck market with updated versions of the Ranger and S10.

First new car
I'm a 21 year old man who works in wetland reconstruction. I needed a vehicle that was cheap, realiable, decent on gas and could haul around basic equipment with any hassle. I got all that and more from the ranger. I bought the sport 4X2, and I couldn't be happier. The drive is very comfortable, but the cab is a cramped if you are over 6'1. The 4.0L engine has plenty of guts, especially with the standard transmission, but isn't rediculous on gas as a full sized truck would be. Overall I love how basic and indestructible the ranger is. If you don't drive like a tool it'll handle well in bad weather and will deliver decent milage. It'll haul all your junk around without sweating and can tow the basics without having to run it to hard.

Nice little truck
This was not a new vehicle. It had 5600 miles on it, but still had the new car smell. I purchased it thru a dealer and got a fair price on my trade in and an excellent price on the Ford Ranger. I have owned it for about a month and really like the way it drives. The 4 cylinder engine is very economical, but not as quick as the 6 cylinder that I have been driving for the last 7 years. The listing on Cars.com matched the vehicle at the dealer exactly. Great way to locate your car.

Ford Ranger Sport 4x4
All the features that I want, without paying for the ones that I do not want. Excellent in the snow, comfortable on long road trips. Nice to have decent off road capability, also. A truly functional small truck, at a price (with incentives) that was competitive with used vehicles. This is not the truck if you want leather seats, and a full sized back seat. The jump seats offer a good enclosed cargo area, but it is not a place for an adult to sit for more than about 10 minutes. With the seatd in back folded up, it is a perfect spot for a Labrador Retriever.

Last of the Breed
The Ford Ranger is the last of a dying breed, the compact pickup. The Ranger gets some of the best fuel economy in a truck you can buy these days (~24 MPG) in addition to being a very capable truck. The Ranger functions very well when towing smaller trailers or just throwing lumber in the bed. Just because the truck does not have a V8 doesn?t mean it is a handicapped truck. I have yet to haul anything and be nervous about it. I have just thrown 4x8 sheets of plywood and deck posts in the bed without any problem. Rangers are some of the most reliable trucks on the road, running basically forever. I?ve had this truck for the better part of a year, and it shows no signs of stopping, it?s just a perfectly reliable Ford. The engine is nothing to write home about. It?s not fast by any means, but the fact that it is a light and small pickup means that it?s not exactly slow. For most applications I have encountered, the Ranger is a more than adequate performer. My Ranger has the XLT trim package which comes with larger, fatter tires, remote start, a Ford bed liner, leather bed cover, Sirius Satellite Radio, and a multi disc CD changer. Everything works as advertised, and frankly everything is a bonus to have, but the XLT package is really only necessary for the bed liner and bed cover. These features are near unheard of on entry level trucks and are all quite nice to have. The interior is dated, but it?s not a deal breaker on the truck. The climate control knobs are very easy to understand and manipulate without taking too much thought. The cloth seats are actually very comfortable, considering the fact that you?re in a truck, and trucks don?t exactly have the smoothest of rides. The simplicity of the Ranger is part of its beauty. There are not 14 different trim levels to pick, for which I am grateful. The Ranger is just an incredible buy for the money. The comparable import models are all too large to fit the role of the Ranger and way more expensive than is reasonable. The Ranger is just a simple truck that functions incredibly well.

Great for the $
Just bought my 2011 XLT 4x4. With all the rebates it cost less than the used 2010 on the lot. There are not many new 4x4 trucks you can drive off the lot under 19000. I got way more than I paid for.
