GREAT car

I love this car! I own my own business and am on the road all the time! I bought in May 08 with 115 miles on it and it now has 24000, I love the comfort of it, I have a tall husband and 2 children, we all fit wonderfully in! i love the excellent gas mileage that I get, I average about 23 with city driving the best I have gotten is 35 on the highway. I live in Amarillo (Texas panhandle) and drove to Houston and back for a conference on 2 tanks of gas! I have never been able to do that in any car I owned! I also love the appearance of this car people are always commenting on it! Overall this is a wonderful car and will keep it for a while!!!!

Taurus SEL FWD

The car now has 7,700 miles on the odometer. I drove 4,635 miles from December 1, 2008 through February 28, 2009. Fuel economy, actual, was 21.9 miles per gallon (211.4 gallons gasoline). Driving was approximately 70% highway and 30% city. Vehicle handling and control was: (a) excellent on dry and wet pavement, (b) good on snow covered pavement and (c) poor on ice covered pavement. The deepest single snowfall encountered was 12 inches. The traction control and ABS systems worked perfectly at all times. The heater, windshield defroster, rear window defroster and windshield washers worked perfectly at all times. Ice accumulation occurred on the windshield wipers during a snow and sleet storm. The lowest temperature encountered was minus five degrees F. The car has not needed any repairs or adjustments. The car has not developed any squeaks or rattles.

Great Car

I bought this car after renting one while on vacation. After 17K miles and 14 months of service it has become the family favorite! I like the bold styling and the performance is outstanding. The six speed automatic took awhile to get adjusted to my driving style. The interior is huge. Will easily hold three adults in back seat. Eight sets of golf clubs will fit in the trunk! Recently got to use the traction control and it worked great. Had to take it to the dealership for the first warranty repair. They had to replace the front sway bar(making scraping noise)but everything is working fine now. I have been averaging about 25mpg combined city/hwy driving. The interior is quiet and the front seats are very comfortable. The stock stereo system is O.K. but won't rattle the windows. One feature that needs redesigned the telescoping steering wheel. I keep hitting my knee on the darn thing. Should have the tilt steering wheel insted! Overall, I think you can't go wrong with this car. Great car with great features at a great price! If you are in the market for a new large car, you should have this Ford on your list!

The car now has 3,000 miles on the odometer. Fuel economy for November 2008 was 22.6 mpg actual (1,689 miles and 74.7 gallons gasoline). The car's fuel economy computer reported 23.5 mpg. The car is very comfortable and quiet. I can drive for hours without feeling fatigued. The car's traction control system is excellent, preventing wheelspin on both smooth, wet pavement and smooth, dry pavement. Zero to sixty mph came in at 7.1 seconds compared to the 6.8 seconds reported in published test articles. The ABS system is also excellent, providing controlled, steerable stops on smooth, wet pavement and smooth, dry pavement. Considerable pressure must be exerted on the brake pedal to engage the ABS on smooth, dry concrete pavement. I had to install a small convex spot mirror to the outside rearview mirror, driver's side, to eliminate the blind area behind the driver's left shoulder. The car has not developed any squeaks or rattles and has required no repairs of adjustments.

Taurus SEL FWD

I purchased the car new. I now have 1,000 miles on the car. Fuel economy is 24.0 mpg with 70% highway and 30% city driving. The ride is quiet and controlled on all types of road surfaces from interstate to improved gravel. Interior comfort is also excellent. Handling is acceptable, not sporty, but good for a large non-performance sedan. The engine and transmission combination provide very good acceleration and engine braking when needed. The transmission gear selector has only two forward positions, "Drive and Low". The inability to select specific transmission gears for specific driving conditions is a handicap when attempting to maximize vehicle handling performance. To date there have been no warranty concerns.

Grand Slam!

as you probably know Ford is trying to make a come back in sales. I think they will pass everyone with this Taurus! this car is comfortable ROOMY!! the back seat space is GINORMOUS! the trunk is HUGE and there is plenty of engine power i wish they would have up dated the cabin though (its still simple yet elegent and pretty) the controls are simple (very Ford like) the kids never complain on car trips now our old accord was a bit tight (2004) the DVD is a nice feature as well. we decided not to buy the taurus X because we saw a picture of the 2009 Ford Flex so were waiting for that to come out, then will get a crossover but for now the taurus is all i need this car really deserves a look at the exterior is nice to me and my family but i understand i could be puzzling to people you will end up loving this car though oh and the 6 speed auto SMOOTH AS A BABYS BOTTOM! (have you driven a foooord lately? old phrase)

A closely guarded secret

Had driven a 500 for 6 months as a work vehicle so when the Taurus came out, I rented one to compare the two. This car is a major improvement over the 500. The power issue of the 500 is now resolved. It had good pickup-and-go power and windnoise was virtually non existent. Handling was good especially on the highway. Ford needs to run a test drive clinic so people can drive this car and not judge it solely by its exterior. This is an excellent car for the money.
