A Different Way to Drive
I've had my Accord hybrid since October 2005, and my experience has been nothing by great. One thing I wish dealers would emphasize to prospective buyers is that driving an Accord hybrid is a totally different way of driving. Yes, it's a powerful, 255-hp V6 that can get gas mileage rivalling its 4 cylinder cousin, but to make the most of its hybrid technology, you can't drive it like a conventional sports car. When you hit the economy setting -- the car's running on three cylinders, punch the cruise control. Don't let loose with jack-rabbit starts at stop lights. Be smart about driving fast. That way, you'll hit 37-38 mpg with no trouble. I regularly use my cruise control during highway driving, and consistently average in the low- to mid-30s for mpg. It's a great car ... great technology, great ride, great features. Honestly, it's the best Accord I've driven, and I've driven Accords for the past 20 years.

A Porsche for under 30 K!
If you like to have fun when you drive & you don't want to spend a fortune then the Accord EX V6 Sedan w/ 6 speed Manual Tran. is the car for you! I test drove several Sedans; the '07 Camry (it's nice for a Girl), the Mazda 6 (nice but not a lot of road feel & feels very light), the Hyundai Sonata (drives like a boat, the interior is an unbelievable amount of plastic & re-sale value is highly questionable) and the Altima (nice but the quality is questionable. the top of the line Altima is 30K & it requires Prem. fuel) For the $, the V6 Accord w/ 6 speed Manual is the best car for the money- by a long shot (when you compare features, the Camry is no bargain. apples to apples it's about $4,000 more). my friend has a Boxster; nice but for $50K I'd rather have my Accord; thank you very much! the Accord is a high performance vehicle in a family sedan's body. Of course, the Accord could use a few more 'comfort' features; but that's why they have the Acura TL for $8,000+ more! if you want to pay $8,000+ more then get the Acura TL & you'll have every comfort feature you could ever want. if you want to get the most 'bang for your buck' the Accord is the way to go- hands down!! if you don't like a Manual; the AT is fine too. but if you like to have fun driving, the manual is the way to go, IMO. I can't wait to drive it; I've never had that feeling about a car. I call it my sports car that can hold a lot of luggage & accomodate 5 adults. Do yourself a favor, before you buy a new Camry ('07), Altima, Sonata or Mazda 6; test drive the Accord; in fact test drive it last! that's what I did & it was one of the easiest decision's I've ever made on buying a new car. Sincerely, Mike M

HAH after 15 months
I've had my Accord Hybrid for 15 months, now and enjoy it more each day. Though I claim that it provides "performance without guilt" rather than pure efficiency, it still outperforms my last car, a (4-cyl.)'95 Accord wagon by a bunch. I commute 20 miles each way, 2/3 interstate and 1/3 city streets and always averaged right around 20 mpg. In my HAH, I consistently get over 30 mpg on my commute and 28 over the course of a tank of gas. Haven't done a road trip with it yet but would bet that it will get close to 40mpg. Great car. Great comfort, performance, handling, and reliability!

Luxury, hybrid Honda
I have nearly 1,000 miles on my 2006 Honda Accord Hybrid. It has averaged 31.7 mpg for a combination of in town (30%) and highway (70%) driving. The fit and finish of this made in Saitama, Japan, Honda is near perfect. The performance surprised me...it is a luxury high performance vehicle! I have a Mercedes Benz E320 and traded a Subaru Outback LL Bean for this Honda. The Mercedes which is a superb vehicle gets left behind more and more these days! The Honda navigation system is adaptive, easy to manage and the verbal interactive capability is exceptional. I have owned a series of luxury vehicles (BMW 325, 535i; Infiniti Q45, Cadillac Seville) and this Honda is more than comparable in every respect and its also very anonymous which I like.

Good Overall Package
Model: EXL 4 cyl. Sedan with Leather-- bought new. Pros: Good looking in & out. Nice balance between ride/handling & very comfortable driver seat. Engine is peppy & smooth upon acceleration & gas mileage is good so far--the paint job is flawless. Above avg. resale & reliability are added plusses. Cons: All EX models should have Fog Lights & Auto/Dim. Mirror as standard eqpt. Traction/Stability Control should be offered as an option on all models(ala the Toyota Camry). The idle is a bit rough when the air is on, which is unusual in most $25,000 cars. Though spacious, the trunk needs some storage areas on the sides, or possibly a cargo organizer over the spare tire. The underside of the trunk lid needs a cover to hide all the exposed wiring , etc. Summary: I also own a 2006 Hyundai Tuscon Limited V6, which listed for $3000 less than the Accord, but contains all the above as standard eqpt., plus a smoother idling engine. The Honda reputation/resale value prompted me to buy & I'm satisfied, but I'm also concerned that both Honda & Toyota are slipping a bit in quality due to an over-demand in production.

best in class
we were looking at the altima, camery, and accord. we test drove the the three of them each two times. the altima was a great looking car but its performace was easily the weakest amoung the three. it was close between the camery and accord. we gave the a slight edge to the accord in all the driving catagories but styling wise we were very turned off by the camery. the accord overall just drove better, looked better, and we felt most comfortable with it.

Long time Japanese car buyer
Accord (EX-L) Sedan, 2.4l , 4 cyl., automatic, w/leather, 16" tires. First impressions after 1,000 miles. Purchase rationale: Opted for 4 cyl. because the hybrid lacks sufficient gas saving or improved performance to justify its price while the V-6 and V-4 are similar after 3rd gear and jack rabbit starts ain't my thing ....(any longer). Likes: Overall performance, driveabilty, maneuverability are very good. Very good sound system with integrated XM satellite system. Ample trunk space and fold-down seat (although folding seat control is awkward). Tight build quality - nice interior quality. Excellent reliability (based on history). Wife says exterior looks are "cute". Great climate control! Very good Michelins (Energy MXV4). Very good overall value. Dislikes: Leather seats are relatively stiff (sedan has a " faux sports-like" ride). Fuel economy is somewhat disappointing. Although the 4 cyl. automatic touts overdrive (5th gear), it's not evident by gas mileage at highway speeds. There is some vagueness/hesitation in the shift to 2nd gear - especially pronounced before the engine reaches operating temperature. Same gear vagueness exists at higher gears on downhill coasting. The brand new alloy wheels already appear to have some discoloring. No rear seat vents. Awkward sunroof contol location (on left dash). Rear posts are too wide while side mirrors have too small a field of vision. So, side/rear vision is a minus.

Almost Perfect
The Accord V6 is just about the best sedan out there. It needs a sport suspension and sportier tires, maybe 235/45/17. The transmission is wonderful, but when I squeeze on the gas suddenly the car wants to race to redline (good in a manual when one can upshift at peak torque, but not so desirable when the auto can't know your desires) Obviously the Acura TL would be obsolete if the Accord V6 were sporty. But for under $30k there is no equal.
