Surprising

Imagine owning German cars (VW & MB) for 7 years and dealing with problem after problem. Trip after trip to the dealer/shop. Time after time handing over the card to be swiped. Ignition coils, VRM's, fuel lines, seat motors, window actuators, check engine lights, new noises and the list continues... You get so fed up with spending time at the shop you learn to live with your flashy German car just not functioning at one hundred percent. Enter my '07 Civic EX. I haven't had it for long, but if it's like the Honda's I've owned from the past, I'm ready for worry-free driving for some time. Now, to the details. My EX has nav with a fabric interior. Seats are supportive and comfy and drivers is very adjustable. Back seats are roomy, fold down arm rest is nice, and there's ample knee room for even a tall person. Stereo is great with balanced low and high end. Wish there were more EQ options, but you leave it alone, which is good when you're driving. Speaking of, driving this thing is actually really fun. It's plenty quick for getting around town (I don't have an autobahn anywhere close to me), and it handles really well for it's price class. Cornering is fast and grip is sure. Highway noise is minimal and the speed-sensative stereo turns itself up nicely. Braking is incredibly sensitive and quick with the 4 wheel disk (ventilated front/solid rear). The short wheel base can lend to a little more bumpy ride, but overall it absorbs well. I love the interior layout. Thought I wouldn't, but I do. Especially at night with the nav screen. As the driver you're surrounded by readouts, lights, gauges and graphs and frankly it feels like you're piloting something out of the future. Either that or something that could take flight. The flat raked windshield is like looking out a perfect pane of plate glass. No distortion. The A-pillars are taking some time to get used to. The climate control is easy to operate and the AC is freaggin cold! The power glass sun roof is always nice to have and the power windows move up and down quickly (drivers is auto up/down). The transmission is smooth and selects the perfect gear every time. So to sum up. I love this car. Go test drive one yourself. It's not an Autobahn hot rod, but it won't let you down, it's fun, will haul you, your friends and camping gear

Used to LIKE Honda!!

Okay, this is my 3rd Honda I've owned. I previously had 2 Honda Accords that both surpassed 200,000 miles and ran great, same engine and same motor, at 200,00 miles! So, when I bought the Honda Civic (brand new!) I was hoping for another great car. I drive a lot of miles, and I knew I would get great gas mileage and have a car that lasted. Unfortunately, this car has been a HUGE disappointment!!!! I've had the recall on the control arms "fixed" in 2007, the year I bought the car. The faulty control arms had cupped the INSIDE of my tires, but the Honda dealership refused to replace my tires, because I already had 25,000 miles on the car. So, I opened a case with American Honda and demanded replacement of the to rear tires, which at this point they agreed to pay 85% of the cost for this. Unfortunately, now that my car has 70,000 miles on it, my rear tires are continuing to cup on the OUTSIDE of the tire (the tires have now been replaced 3 times!!!). The Honda dealership refuses to admit that the "specs" of my control arms are anything but perfect, and the blame has been put on me, for not rotating my tires and aligning my car enough...which is not true! And nor do I appreciate the accusations!! The car has had 2 alignments and free rotations completed every oil change.... So, now that my Honda Civic is at 70,000 miles, I have also replaced the driver's side sun visor 2X. In other words, the visor has cracked and broken 3X total! Ridiculous! The second replacement the dealership offered to cover the visor at 50%, however, I refused to pay anything due to the countless consumer complaints on this issue (Honda's explanation was that my warranty is over). I found myself opening another case with American Honda, demanding replacement for another cheap sun visor. Honda then agreed to replace the visor again, at 100%. In addition to these problems, at 70,000 miles BOTH of my front wheel bearings are failing!!! This is not a common problem on any car at 70,000 miles, and IMO, especially not for a Honda. There have never been any after-market rims or tires put on the car, which may cause failure at an earlier rate... I requested that Honda pay 50% of the cost for the repairs of this problem, at which they offered 25%. IMO, the bearings were failing in half the time they should be, hence, 50%! Again, they responded with the unfortunate reason that the lack of an extended warranty couldn't justify coverage in cost. (If I knew that this Honda Civic was going to a a piece of junk, I certainly would have opted for an extended warranty!) American Honda was consulted about the issue and agreed to cover the cost at 50%. Now that I have had the unfortunate experience of owning a current Honda product, I am NEVER interested in another!!!

Reliable and fun to drive

This is my third Honda. My previous 1994 Civic was running strong at 259K miles when I sold it, and the lack of big repairs throughout the 13 years I had it made me a Honda fan for life. And everything in it was working great at that point! I never thought Civics were that great looking until the last few years. The 2007 is really quite sporty looking and very sleek and beautiful. I get a lot of comments on it. The interior is design fine and comfortable enough, although admittedly it's not the most luxurious interior around. But even on fairly long driving trips it has been fine and the gas mileage is fantastic. We've measured gas mileage as high as 42 on trips with a lot of highway driving. It is great fun to drive and handles well. In 3 years of ownership nothing has gone wrong, so Honda's famous reliability is still there. This 2007 Civic is bigger than our old 1994 version...I guess the overall size of all Hondas have increased somewhat.

Dissapointed

I previously owned a 94CivicEx & I loved it. I hate this car. The visors have broken 3x in 3yrs due to poor quality. Honda Corp won't do anything about it. Once warranty wears out I will have to replace them out of pocket. The car has four blind spots that are really big. Poor visibility. It's great for a road trip. I could fit all my stuff in the trunk & gas milage is great. Overall though I wouldn't purchase this specific model again. I'm gonna try to get rid of it before more problems start to pop up.

NOT a good ride

I have owned an suv with a thirsty gas tank so was thrilled with the 34 mpg. However this car rode worse than my truck. The road noise was horrible. We were ready to replace the tires again due to uneven ride. We replaced the rear arm controls and alligned this vehicle after 1 year! The car drives great under 50 mpg, above that it vibrates and shakes. Visor split open and wont close, many customer complaints do nothing at the dealer for helping fix this issue. VERY stylish look for the coupe, but not worth the sacrifice on the ride.

honda civic si- not a smart buy!

I have owned my si since March 30th of 2009. Since then, transmission went out and the breaks and now we are having to replace the front left bump stop! If I would have know how much this car was going to cost me to fix and replace things...I wouldnt have bought it. Once again....Honda Civic Si, not a smart buy.

mileage reliability comfort AND style

39mpg on the hiway, the premum sound system that interfaces with IPOD, comfortable seats, head turning styling, reliable as the day is long, AND plenty of power to merge and pass with ease, this car beats all comers. It is small, only drawback

This is a keeper

This car is on the move every day. Great gas mileage, looks, dependability. It's like an old friend. I had alot of road noise and rear tire wear. Took it back twice. On the second visit, the dealer replaced the control arms in the rear-(under warranty)-problem solved. This (according to the dealer) will not get corrected unless the owner complains.
