Explore the 2001 Honda CR-V

Owned it for 4 years now...

Just thought some people would like to know how the 2001 CR-V fares with use. Mine now has 85K miles on it and it is doing very well. Zero parts replaced except front brake pads (by me). The car is fun to drive around town and will do 80 all day on the highway. It has very good, quick handling and has a solid feel. Now the only things I will pick on, in case the Honda engineers are reading this. The operation of the auto trans with the cruise control is quirky. When driving normally and climbing a grade on the highway the transmission comes out of overdrive and into 3rd gear nicely. But when the cruise is on it downshifts to 2nd gear and roars up to 4000+ RPMs or more! It sounds like the engine will blow up. Bad design there! Other times the transmission seems to stay in 2nd gear longer than it should. The only other thing that bugs me is that it tends to be noisy at highway speeds. This is not engine noise, it is tire noise coming from the front wheel wells as if more noise insulation would help. We have to crank up the radio to hear it over 65 mph. We have changed tires but the problem persists. The mileage is not all that great for a 4 cylinder: about 20 around town and 22-24 on the highway. I recomend it for mostly flat driving. If you live in a very hilly area get something with a bit more power if you haul any weight with you. We intend to keep our CR-V a long time. It still looks and drives like new at 6 years old. Great car - very reliable

We bought this car for our daughter and it has been problem-free. It is very comfortable and and the driver visibility is excellent due to the extra height of the vehicle. I highly recommend this car to anyone who values reliability and comfort. Plus, the car''s seats fold down to provide lots of storage for persons who need extra storage capacity

2001 CRV SE

The CRV is so much small suv for the dollar. Lots of room and great awd for real world situations. Great gas mileage. It is not a powerhouse but will get up the mountains just fine and run 80 all day. Overall highly recommend.
