Beautifully Engineered Car
So you've already read the reviews about how great a car this is. Simply put, the best. So let's skip the functionality, great value, roominess, features, etc. Let's talk about this car from a mechanic's perspective. I've had the pleasure of building the first ever USDM 2nd gen TURBOCHARGED Honda fit. This car is nothing short of a joy to work on. It took me less than 12 hours to pull out the engine, change to a new shortblock, bolt on the old head w/ a new gasket, and drop it back in. Everything fits together so beautifully. It's art in a way. Everything from the dowel pins on the timing cover, to the clearly labeled tolerance range stamped on the side of each hot-forged cracked rod cap. No tough tool clearances, no hard to reach bolts, no unique tools for every part. Nearly every bolt is 10,12,14,17,or19mm. You could practically rebuild it with a $20 tool set. It is a mechanic's dream. I look at the ford escort in my garage and laugh. It's a joke. You can't even get the oil drain bolt off with a ratchet and socket because theirs no clearance due to the K member, and the oil filter is nearly unreachable - these are only the routine maint. items! The rest of the car is even worse! That car was not made with the same engineering passion as my fit. Did I mention the turbo? T28 @ 10 psi is exactly what this car needed. There is an incredible tolerance for knock in this engine. And if it can handle the abuse I put it through, I assure you that a bone stock fit will last forever. And even if it does breakdown, it's an easy fix for any home mechanic. With the passion displayed in every nut, bolt, and plastic trim clip in the Fit, I promise you, it won't be a bad decision.

Great on Gas
I have an automatic - base model. I bought it with 14K miles and have put about 4K on so far. I have gotten a range of 35 - 38.2 mph on each tank of gas. The monitor that tells me the mpg per tank as I drive is consistently reading 4 - 5 miles over what I really get. I have the base model, and I find I miss 2 items the most that I had with my 01 Celica --- cruise control (not available, unless you buy the sport edition), and a cover for the cargo area. The interior and exterior is lighter weight than my last car and feels as if it may not hold up too well...we shall see. One last item --- comes only with 2 keys that have electronic chips inside...now it does not come with any remote of any sort, that would be an upgrade. But, should I want to have more keys made, I will need to go to Honda and have expensive keys made and reprogrammed. I know the concept is theft control, but the thieves probably have a way around it...and the consumer is charged crazy fees for no reason.

LOVE my Fit
I love my Fit's reliability, its nearly 40 mpg, it ultra-low emissions, and its adaptable interior. I have carried boxes, luggage, furniture, even two fruit trees from the home improvement superstore to plant in my yard. It can carry 8 bags of mulch easily. It looks pretty cool, too.

Zippy lil FIT
The exterior styling is much better from the 2009 model. The interior cd/ac panel is so NOT modern! massive dials. mpg is awesome! i get 38mpg. whats weird is i get lower mpg on the highway! the rpm shoots up to 4000 and above at 75mph and crashes my mpg to 32-33mpg, weird isnt it? suppose to be the other way around? but i drive city more often so i dont mind. its a zippy thing! can move pretty good. gluck on windy days! haha! you can definitely feel the car shifting! hang on to the wheel! i drive a manual transmission. I like it a lot overall!

Great Little Big Car
We bought our Honda Fit Sport just barely used (3 months used) and got a pretty good deal on it and have had it for a little over a year now. So far I have to say that we love it. We bought the standard transmission and were lucky to find it in the Blackberry Pearl color that my wife and I wanted. The Good: The best thing about the Fit is the interior space; for such a little car, it hauls a lot and on our frequent (4 hour) trips to Boston it is one of the most comfortable little cars I have ever driven (and I've owned and rented a lot of small cars) - the flip up back seats are an awesome feature as well, lending the interior to a bunch of different configurations for hauling stuff - it's definitely got some zip to it, though I did notice a difference between the automatic version and the manual transmission (tho I wouldn't mind if they added another 20 horsepower or so) the manual seemed to have more pep - for a small car it handles nicely and sits low to the ground but it is a small car so beware of bumpy roads, you will feel every nook and cranny - the integrated cup holders for the driver and passenger are a really great feature - it gets great gas mileage; typically we get about 35 to 36 mpg running our errands and closer to 40 on longer highway trips. The Not So Good: One slight annoyance is that the cooling fan kicks on all of the time whether it is hot or cold out, I'm not exactly sure why, but it's kind of annoying - the windshield wiper nozzles and the fluid supply hoses freeze up in freezing weather, though I might change out the fluid for something better to avoid that - I'm not crazy about the styling on the dashboard (the older models look better to me) but was willing to overlook the "Conan the Barbarian" aesthetics - it is an inexpensive car and so the paint isn't very resilient, I've noticed some minor chipping on the lower front cowling - as I've mentioned above it is a small sporty car so beware of the jarring ride, if you are looking for the ride of a bigger car definitely look for something else. The Bottom Line: The Honda Fit Sport is a great deal if you need a zippy little car to get around in and haul a lot of stuff . . . and get great gas mileage to boot.

Excellent value for purchase price
Only fault with my Fit so far is that the nut on the driver's side windshield wiper came loose. 21,000 miles so far and nothing else has come loose- no rattles, groans, or squeaks. Interior wise, I'm a big guy and I have plenty of room. I have had 6 of my workmates quiz me about this vehicle and one wanted to buy it from me. It has plenty of storage and tons of cargo space. It is an all around good vehicle.

Great car
I love everything about the 2009 Fit except the seats could be more comfortable and have more lumbar support (my old Tercel had more comfortable seat).

2009 Honda Fit Sport/Nav
After nearly 30,000 miles of driving, our 2009 Honda Fit Sport/Nav continually confirms it was a great decision for purchase. We had also looked at the Nissan Versa Hatchback and the Hyudai Elantra and are sure folks who chose one of those are also satisfied - time has shown they are both good cars. For our purpose and long-term use, this was the best choice for us. We consistantly get 34-36 mpg local rural and an astonishing 41-43 on road trips at 70 mph with the a/c at full tilt. The GPS is great with its easy to see large display however the 180-page manual for it is a bit more than I am willing to deal with. A class seminar at the dealership would be helpful so we could use more of the features than just the manual input. The "Magic Seat" feature opens an array of cavernous cargo options - and all have been used with great satisfaction. Having been indoctrinated to the open road in a '61 VW Bug, my personal power requirements are still lower than most so this breadbox sized engine is more than adequate. The transmission is also butter smooth and the extra gear at the top when cruising really enhances the mpg. There are enough bells and whistles to keep me entertained for hour upon hour of highway cruising. My iPod wards-off boredom with everything from opera to classic country which makes bladder elasticity the primary factor mandating occasional stops. The auto-locking door locks are a frequent source of irritation and there is a prescribed dance to do to override this feature but I don't dance well. The handling is great- especially when scooting around town and squeezing into a tight space. The windows rolled halfway down rattle on bumpy roads so we keep them up with the a/c running. The sound system is good - nice speakers and audio controls on the touch screen are easy to use on the fly. The a/c is adequate on most summer days but I would not trust it to safely dry-age any prime beef. The horsepower is probably a little low to drive the compressor very hard. Biggest criticism - interior color choice - Henry Ford black. There is no choice. I would have gladly paid more for beige leather. Beige would make it cooler and appear more spacious than it already is. However the black does make it easier to find the stray French fries and coins than find themselves between the seat cushions. Would I buy another? You betcha! This car gives us everthing we need and more.
