Uninspiring but well built

My family & I purchases the 2010 Honda Odyssey LX as a larger option for our growing family. We've put about 2500 miles on it thus far and it's performed admirably well. The build quality and engineering are top rate, but it's not as comfortable as most of the american cars we've owned previously. It's also a pleasure to drive, but there's alot of cabin noise at high speeds and it is an uninspiring vehicle to look at. I guess minivans aren't supposed to be fun to drive, but in today's world I don't think that needs to be the case anymore. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone though.

PASSCODE: 0052880B

The CLOCK is set in the WRONG place on the vehicle.. It should be set in the area where the driver can see it clearly and not have to strech his/her head to read it Mainly on the left middle of the vehicle.. This years trip to Myrtle Beach, SC I have to say was the most comfortable of any trip I've made since I owned a 1990 Ford Crown Victoria.. I the over the road fuel mile was far more then I imagine

No regrets so far

Purchased it last January. Owned several other mfrs. vans before, but this one seems more solid and comfortable than the others. Like the way it handles. Avoided buying the variable cylinder management models (EXL and Touring) because of many reports about problems with the drive train. After 6 months and 10k miles, I can report no problems with the basic engine. I'm averaging 15-17 around town and 23-to as much as 30 on the open road.

2nd Honda Odyssey for Me

my 2010 HOnda Odyssey EXL so far has been excellent. I love the auto lift. the rear view camera is not as big a help as I had thought it would be. It handles wonderfully and rides nicely. It has less road noice than my 2007 but still nmore than I like. I hate it that they took one of the voltage slots away!!! I like having XM but they could have added it instead of replacing one of the slots-- now I am constantly pulling stuff out to charge this or run that. the conversation mirror is as bad as before. But on the things like driving and handling it is great! I got this one the end of March-- so will see how it holds up.

Very Safe Car

My wife and two small children were driving a 2010 EXL Odyssey in Tennessee when a truck crossed the double yellow line and hit them head on doing 45 miles an hour. The car performed exactly as it was supposed to. The side airbag, curtain airbag, and steering wheel airbag all deployed. My two children sitting in the back only bit their tounges and had no other injuries. My wife had a burn on her arm from the air bag ( this is normal ) and possibly a torn ligament in her left knee. If you saw the accident and the van, you would say she is very very lucky. I believe this odyssey saved her from far worse injuries and possibly death. As you would imagine, the van is a total loss. We will be getting a new 2010 Honda Odyssey as soon as the insurance check is received in the mail.

strategic

With all the talk about Honda quality, I was negatively surprised with this NEW Honda Odyssey 2010. Although ride is not bad, I would still say that judging by Honda?s past reputation, this minivan scores average or below. The overall feel of a quality build car, is not present here. Main disappointment is the extremely low fuel economy. While Honda states avg about 20 MPG (17/24) is simply not realistic. I am hardly getting 11 MPG ! I have had several older vehicles and none of them provided such low MPG. Some other minor issue which all add up to regretting of buying this. I would recommend: I fuel economy is important to you, do some research on other minivans before getting an odyssey

Voice Recognition System is Awesome!

I bought my wife the 2009 Touring model. She refers to it as a great vehicle for someone with ADHD. There are many cool gadgets to play with while driving. You must learn to play BEFORE attempting to use them while driving. Definately a vehicle for the gadget hungry engineer. This is our third Odyssey. It appears that they have fixed the problems with the transmission in earlier models (notibly in the 1999 and 2000 Odyssey). The price is a bit steep at $40k, but it remains high on the list for retaining its resale value. The maintenence cost is practically zero - tires & oil. I always run Mobile One. The backup camera is not very useful in bright light, but works well when backing out of a narrow driveway at night. I must admit, I find myself using the voice recognition system for most functions like changing the radio station, adjusting the temperature and finding gas stations. It works well with the handsfree cellphone link too. I will probably buy another one even after my two kids leave home for good.

Very versatile

Never thought I would own a minivan, but in retirement it is proving to be very useful. It has all the amenities for long trips, huge capacity for trips to the home improvement store, comfortable and elegant enough for three couples to go out on the town, and most impressive, can take 6 golfers to the course. Move over soccer mom's !
