Bought a 2017 Highlander
The Pilot is larger than the Highlander- it felt more like a minivan than SUV and I liked the handling and ride comfort of the Highlander much better. The Front Seat mounted armrests in the Pilot are an absolute deal breaker- I'm a 6'2" and 235 lb guy and those armrest are completely useless. Why is there not a console cover armrest? this is a major comfort flaw that would keep me from buying the Pilot. Interesting that the previous crv had similar seat mounted armrests- then they added a console with armrest later. There is a cheapness to the new Pilot (no CD player either) that you just don't have with the highlander- which is Lexus like in comfort.

Everything is broken on a brand new car!
Driver seat will not adjust height. This is a safety issue as I can not see over the dash. Honda said they did not know how to fix is and I had to wait for a recall -its been 6 months now! The software constantly glitches when using the iPod. The windows are sluggish and sometimes will not work at all! The heater cuts out when stopped but running. Terrible car!

Great SUV - Fully loaded
I had an accord until last month before me and my wife decided to change the car. Letting go the 4 year old accord was not easy. After a thorough research across Acura MDX, pilot touring and highlanders, i settled to Elite. This is awesome vehicle with best of features on it. Powerful engine, awesome interiors and interior features. The engine off during the idling at signals is an awesome feasture. Gives a full 2 minute break to the engine and gas too, which I think is very thoughtful. I love road trips, and have done 600-700 mile round trips on my accord already. Taking my madness to road trips to the next level, i wanted to enjoy the more majestic vehicle. Found this one. This is awesome. Exteriors - The aerodynamic styling is eye catching and with the runner boards fitted on it, it gives much more majestic looks. Interiors - Nothing to complain, nothing to ask for. You ask it, its there. Very thoughtfully loaded with features for the vehicle at that segment. My son loves his captain seat in the second row. Navigation and other infotainment features are cool. The panoramic moon roof for rear seats + sun, moon roof for the front driver and passenger gives the max viewing range. The rain sensing wipers, driver seat memory, first and second row seats heating and cooling, and many more. Its full value for money. V6 engine with awesome pickup, 9 speed transmission gives the smoothest of the rides. Realtime switching between sport and regular drive modes, helps drive swiftly through the traffic when necessary. I m yet to try out those 3 additional 4 wheel drive modes, for snow, dirt and sand options. I was looking 7 seaters and thought about Acura MDX, with 10k or so less, I got all those features from Acura in my Honda, and moreover gives even more room for the last row than MDX.

Great SUV for real life use
I was always an Accord guy until I tried to take my brand new 2016 hunting on a ranch. Car accident obliterated it a couple weeks later anyways so I replaced it with this. I've had the EX-L for a year now with over 13K miles on it. Mostly used for commuting, but has ended up being the everything car for the family. Lots of cargo space with all the back seats down, trailer hitch for when a Uhaul is needed. Plenty of trips to Home Depot and Ikea with no issues. Great road trip car, took it from TX to WI and back. I agree with most reviewers that the infotainment touch screen is not good. Apple CarPlay/Android Auto would have been a helpful add (had it in the aforementioned Accord). Basic steering wheel controls work fine for volume, but anything else is virtually impossible while the car is moving. I would have liked to have some of the more advanced features on the lower trim level (ventilated seats/LED headlights). The price for going up trim levels beyond EX-L was too steep for what you get. Diminishing returns. From what I hear, the 9-speed transmission on the Touring and Elite are terrible anyway. No issues whatsoever with the standard 6-speed and good gas mileage for a V6 SUV (22MPG average). Strong acceleration power, but I leave the Eco button on most of the time to get better gas mileage. All in all, it's a classy ride that looks and feels refined, but has no problems going off road and getting its hands dirty. Isn't that what most people want in a crossover?

Honda pilot 9speed transmission tourinf model
Og you like the hr style get the 6 speed DO NOT BUY the 9 speed transmission.!!!! Its horrible shifting is unpredictable when you driving. < 35 miles it randomly downshifting then it will rev up to 4000 rpm then the engine is so loud that I have to go to breakdownlane what I did I have to press the + paddle shifter then press the drive button twice to make the revs go down. I took the car to yhe dealership they did a software update did not resolve the issue. I noticed the car having poor acceleration even with theeco mode is off i have to press harder on gas pedal but then enginewill be loud . This is what Im experincing after they did the software update. Car shifting is jerky total disappionted with the transmission!!!

Almost Perfect, Needs Some Tweaks
Bought an EX a month ago for my wife. Drives great, very good power with good gas mileage for its size. I like the styling compared to the old "bloated jeep" look. Quiet (though I'm sure the Touring or Elite is quieter). Controls are nicely laid out. Just a few complaints, mostly with the touchscreen/entertainment system setup. A few knobs (yes, it can usually be done on the steering wheel buttons) would be nice but most important would be the ability to run smartphone apps thru the system, like waze or weather channel. Since the system is Android, it should be easy-peasy with an Android phone, but Honda is trying to push in-car GPS and (so far) is not budging) on compatibility. One more thing, the third seat (I'm used to a mini van) is kid friendly but not built for adults on long trips (from what I read most others are even worse). Overall I'm very pleased.

2016 Pilot touring.
So far I'm very happy with the pilot. We purchased the white touring model which is very comfortable and attractive. We took a trip to Virginia and it performed very well. I love the safety features. My wife likes the lane keep assistance and we both used the adaptive cruise control. Sure, the touch screen grabs your fingerprints, but no big deal. I love the right lane blind spot camera. The motor is plenty peppy. We previously had an Odyssey so I was a bit concerned about the reduced storage space but so far it hasn't been an issue with our family size. Living in the south, I didn't see the real need for all wheel drive. We drove through some heavy rain on our trip and I didn't feel any slippage. Overall, I'm pleased. I probably will buy an extended Honda Care warranty through the discounted Internet dealerships, since I will likely keep this vehicle for some time.
