LOVE IT!

Bought my 2005 electric red Elantra new -- love everything about it!! Got it with the best package -- automatic transmission, keyless entry, CD player, ABS, traction control, side curtain air bags etc etc. Was looking for the safest car for my money and I found it. Will definitely buy another when the time comes. Oh, and that WARRANTY!!!!!

Best Value for Me

I bought this car as my car to drive me from Tucson to Phoenix, back, and around town. It gets good gas mileage as I no longer drive from Phoenix to Tucson on a regular basis, I only visit the pump once every 2-3 weeks or so. Car has enough pep when you put down the pedal. Is comforatable to drive in for an extended amount of time. A/C and heater do their jobs pretty efficiently. Down sides... 5th gear could be loosened up a little. When I cruise at 80 (75mph limits) on the highway inbetween cities then RPM's get a little too close to 3k for me, it'd be nice to lose a little performance and gain a somewhat quiter engine at the high cruising speeds. CD became available in the audio market in 1982. 24 years later and we're still putting tape decks in cars? Sorry, they should be putting in a CD player.

Value Driven

Great features on the GT for a very reasonable price. We've got 15K miles in 1st year of ownership. I will properly maintain to aim for 100,000+ miles from my college kids' driving. Car has been perfect since day one - not a single issue. Great gas mileage too. Might have to look at more Hyundai's !!!!

Good Value; as advertised

I bought the base, 5-speed Elantra for commuting to work after my 88 RX-7 decided to stop running. My initial plan was to buy used but then I realized I could get a new car for close to $10K. I test drove a Nissan Sentra, a Mazda 3 and the Elantra. The Sentra rode harshly, handled and accelerated poorly and the manual shifter was very vague. The Mazda 3 rode well and handled exceptionally but no base models were available and the dealer was asking $16K for the one I drove! The Elantra impressed me immediately on the test drive; the shifter was solid and precise, the enigne was very strong and the ride quiet and smooth. Hyundai was also giving large rebates and I purchased the car for a little over $10K. The car now has 16K miles and has experienced no mechanical problems. I get 28 mpg in mixed driving and up to 35gpm on the highway. My favorite points of the car are the performance(nobody expects this car to be quick!), the ride quality, all the standard features and the bulletproof reliability. My dislikes are the flaccid handling - the car leans in corners and nose-dives under braking- , the base audio system has poor sound, the air conditioning smells funky, the front passenger seat lacks lumbar support and some of the interior plastics scratch easily.

2nd time around

05 electric red purchashed for 10.3k with 9k miles on it. It replaced a 03 with 36k miles that was totalled by insurance co. This one has auto tranny, nuch easier to drive than 03's 5-speed, put you do sacrifice power...Quality is OK, has been reliable(as was my 03) Looks good, price is right, and THE WARRANTY
