Great car except for a current starting issue
I traded in a Ford Escape for the Hyundai Elantra so I wouldn't have to sell a kidney to pay for gas anymore. The gas mileage in the Hyundai Elantra is great-anywhere from 33-37 mpg depending on how much city vs highway that I drive (5 speed manual transmission). I find it very comfortable with sufficient pep and easy access to all the dials etc. There are alot of little compartments for storage although the center console really needs a bigger compartment. You can't hold much in this one. The warranty is great too, especially for someone who puts alot of miles on the car every week (8000 miles in 4 months!). I did pay extra for the 100K bumper-to-bumper since I plan to keep the car until it is paid off. The one thing that has dropped it from a 5 to a 4 rating is that over the past few weeks, I have intermittently had issues starting the car, a couple of turns before the engine caught and today it took 10 minutes to start with alot of pumping on the gas pedal. It might be the the fuel pump issue that is being investigated but with the bumper to bumper warranty, it shouldn't cost me to fix it. I guess this will be my test of Hyundai service.

Great MPG
I drive close to 200 miles a day and at 65 MPH I've been getting 36 MPG. I think it would be even better with a 5 or 6 speed auto. Got mine in Feb 07 and now it has 64k on it and have had no problems.

Excellent value, features, performance
The driving experience was excellent: quite, nimble, and feature-full. At a similar price range there were no other car which offered electronic stability as standard, and I could add sun roof and heated seat within our modest budget.

Very happy with my Hyundai
I've had this vehicle for one month now. I love the exterior look- that was what drew me to the car in the first place. The interior is great. All the stereo buttons and AC controls are within reach. The aux. hook up for my iPod is a great feature and I love the blue lights on the dash. I rated the interior 4-stars because there isn't a whole lot of room in the back seat. The only issue I've had with this car is that I have a very difficult time putting gas into it! It will start to fuel and then stop, repeatedly. I get a few cents in at a time. Sometimes if I push the gas nozzle in as far as it will go, it will fuel a bit easier. Kind of annoying to have to forcibly push the nozzle in every time I fuel, but not enough to drop my rating of this car. Alas, I am getting double the gas mileage I was getting with my SUV. It's a great, affordable car and I would recommend it to anyone.

In today's world, a best buy.
In a world where gas prices (and therefore everything else) is going nowhere but up, up, and away, it comes a great relief to find a car that not only gets superb gas milage but costs less than it main competition. No, the Elantra is not the coolest looking car out there, and no, its not got a sexy name attached. But what it does have are all the things that really (should) count: gas milage, price (!!!), safety (you do love yourself and your family right?), features, and finally the warranty - which is one of the best in the business and not one that you usually find on cars in this price range. It's roomy inside with good comfort - both front and rear. It handles about as you'd expect - that is competently but it's no sports car that's for sure. But for the money, and with the warranty, features, gas milage, price and safety it offers, the Elantra stand head and shoulders above its competitors as a best buy.

Great Car Best Value
I took a test drive in the Honda Civic before driving the Elantra. It did not take me long to make my decision to purchase my Elantra. I love it. It gets great gas mileage (34 hwy) and is very roomy and comfortable. Has lots of greats features as well.

More like a midsize car.
10,000 miles in 4 months. Never less than 30 mpg. $3000 cheaper than the competition with more features and pretty comfortable for long distance. What's not to like. Oh, and a 10 year, 100K warranty.
