A lot of car for the money

I have owned the 2007 Santa Fe limited FWD 5 passenger SUV for 6 months and I have driven just over 8000 miles without any problems. Previously, I put 120000 miles on my 2001 Elantra and it never let me down. I have driven the Santa Fe under nearly every condition. Even though it does not have AWD it handles well in the snow. Coming from my Elantra, which basically had a gas and brake pedal I could definitely see the benefit of the Traction Control and ESC along with the ABS. I have kept track of every fill up since I purchased my car and on average I get 16.5-18MPG in exclusive city driving, 22-25MPH exclusive highway driving (65-80MPH), and in mixed driving I get around 20-22MPG. The CD player does not have a stereo mini jack however that isn?t really a deal breaker. The stereo will play MP3 CDs so I can burn over 100 songs to a single disc using the MP3 format and have plenty of traveling music. Also, the Santa Fe?s stock radio will display all of the MP3 track data including song title and artist all the while allowing me to control my music from the steering wheel controls. I appreciate the extra recessed storage compartment in the floor of the cargo area. It is spacious and can be subdivided. The front cup holders are lighted which is a very practical touch. The washer fluid reservoir will hold over a gallon so it lasts a long time between fills. The engine and transmission are smooth and acceleration is perfectly adequate. The engine produces 242 hp but it isn?t a light vehicle so they balance out. I never have any trouble getting up to speed or passing, but it is no rocket. I would have purchased the 7-passenger version but the 3rd row seats really aren?t for adults. My biggest complaint is in the front row headroom. I am 6?1? and if I put my seat in the most comfortable position, which for me is more upright, my hair, which is not long, touches the ceiling. I do have a moon roof so I lose a few inches there but in an SUV headroom should not be an issue and it is. Also, when I adjust the steering wheel to a comfortable position it completely obscures my high beam indicator light. It is very easy to forget your high beams are on when you can not see the indicator. Neither of these things are deal breakers, but something to consider if you are taking a test drive.

The Cool Champion!

I have been driving this vehicle for past 3 months with great joy and satisfaction though there are few cons which are minor. It has great power, cool interiors, semi-luxary seating, excellent exteriors, stylish design, good view, amazing price. All it needs is competitive mileage. It is averaged 17 in city and 25 on High Way, which is not likable to the customer, because of the growing gas price. I would say this is the best over the branded boys. Surely not crazy but rosy liking Santa Fe.

Excellent Off Road

We just purchased a new 07 Santa Fe LE 3.3L/V6 model automatic. Very impressed with Smooth Ride, Quiet cab at Hwy speeds. We live in Mtn?s - the vehicle handled the Steep Grades and Passes Beautifully! Gotta LUV the Warranty! We have 2 BIG dogs who love their new Fold Down Seats! Great storage space & control console is easy w/the dials & Blue light. Only CON is the Cruise Control. While in Cruise Control, we experienced a lag in climbing the Mtn. by 5 mi. then, it would kick in to what we had it originally set at. Also, it doesn?t accelerate quickly enough when you press accelerate button while in cruise control. Not sure if this is a malfunction - going to ask dealer? Now for the JUICY part. All you CITY FOLK listen up! This SUV is AWESOME Off Road. So, don?t be afraid to get it DIRTY!!! We had so much fun taking it down the Dirt Roads - the roads had pot holes, cattle guards, river rocks and wash board. The Santa Fe chewed it all up and spit it out with No Prob! What a GREAT experience. This is exactly what we purchased the SUV for! We even tested out the Manual Gears up & down the steep dirt road inclines. Lots of muscle & excellent braking capablities. Will see how the vehicle holds up 6 mo. from now. Will report back then. Happy Trails - Sedona ,AZ

This SUV is great

We just traded in my Chevy colorado for an 07 Santa Fe and so far its impressed us a lot. We chose the SE because the price and content are just right. It's actually really nice, I previously wouldn't have considered a Hyundai but it looks and performs great. The interior is really nice. Fit and finish is great. the warranty speaks for itself. We looked at the CRV, RAV 4, Equinox and Grand Cherokee and would recomend the Santa Fe. At first I didn't like the styling of the rear end but it has grown on me big time. Our Family is proud to drive this SUV.

Paint is peeling

We have a 2007 Santa Fe in Deepwater Blue. Everywhere the plastic bumper meets the metal body, the paint is peeling. Its been repainted and by the time they drive it from the body shop back to the service center, less than 5 miles, its peeling again. Something wrong with this certain color or design flaw? Everyone has been very helpful about figuring out what to do, though we have no answers yet. I just want others to be aware of this problem.

Best car I've ever owned!!!

I love this vehicle from the first test drive to today all the safety features, cool gadgets, performance, and everything that comes standard with just the basic models. Its worth every penny to buy a Hyundai. I test drove all of them and still could not decide which one to choose for myself so I bought a Santa Fe for me and a Tiburon for my wife just so I could drive her car when I wanted, but its hard to get her out of that car because she loves it so much.

Nice car, I' am glad I bought it

I have had a 2007 Santa Fa for about a year. Driven it over 11, 000 miles. V6 3.3 engine. My list of good things. Handles very good, nice confortable ride, great looking inside and out. Good accleration. Price was right for what I got. However, some things could be updated or improved in the future. I guess this is what I get for buying first generation. Impovements, better drivers set adjustment, no input jack on radio for ipod, MPG is not the best but compared to my old 1998 Durango it's a deal. Better choice of interior colors for middle package, would of liked to have black instead of lite gray (black only on the limited). No dome light for front sets. Overall, these smaller things can be over looked. Lately, I experienced some noise under the front end (creaking) while turning the wheel and pulling out of my driveway. I will have this looked at ASAP. I have purchased a rubber cargo mat for the back and window rain guards. I will be picking up a bug defector and side bars. If I had to do it again I would of bought a Limited. But I am still very happy with my 2007 Santa Fa.

Easy to drive, very smooth, I love it!

I'm really impressed with the Santa Fe. My wife has a bad back, and I was worried about ride issues and just getting in the car given the ride height. No problems on either issue. The Santa Fe is very smooth on the road, and just fine driving around the poor roads here in our little desert town. About the only gripe I have about the whole buying process was not being able to get the exact car I wanted. Hyundai lets you build your own on their website, but good luck finding one. We wanted a 5-passenger Limited AWD, but got an SE AWD instead. They load up the Limiteds with DVD systems and maximum options we didn't need. Than being said, I really like the features on the SE. The seats are comfy and supportive, the sound system is great, and the cabin is quieter than my wife's Chrysler Concorde. The price is right and the car is very refined. I'm very pleased.
