I'm plesantly surprised

I was hesitant to buy a Hyundai, not knowing much about the company or their cars. But after doing months of research, the Santa Fe had the combination of features, performance and warranty that I could not say no to. I am very pleased with this vehicle and have had not a single problem in the 3 months I've driven it.

My 2nd Santa Fe, I love this vehicle.

I drove my 2004 Santa Fe until it topped 175,000 miles and it was still going strong. I was looking to upgrade to the new technology offered in the new SantaFe for 2010. I LOVE this vehicle. It is a beautiful, peppy vehicle. I get really good gas mileage and I have a 80 mile drive daily. All of these folks out test driving SUVs should make a stop at Hyundai. They are missing out on a great vehicle for the $$$.

good gas mileage

I'd planned on buying a small size-SUV (Subaru Outback-Forester, Ford Escape) but was disappointed with the fuel mileage. My 2010 Santa Fe gets 21 mpg city driving and 27 mpg driving I-70 from Denver to Vail and back. Other owners' say the optimal gas mileage is after about the first 1500 to 2000 miles. That with 5 star safety and low maintenance and I am pleased. JDR

the car we came to

The first car we looked at was a Subaru Forester, and the second dealer offered a good deal. If we had been different people we would have bought it right there. But we didn't, and we checked out the competition, Rav 4, CRX, Sorrento, and the Santa Fe. Here is what made the difference. Value for the money. Biggest vehicle, yet with the advanced 6 speed automatic and the new standard 4 cylinder as economical as any of them. Can pull my popup camper. Quietest vehicle. Driver lumbar support. Good stereo with XM. Wheel tilts and telescopes. Acceleration is good. Heating / cooling vents in the back seat. Combine this with the fact that the warranty was the strongest, and the deal was competitive and it was a no brainer. This was the car we ended up wanting. Have driven it around 3200 miles, including one 1000 mile round trip to Maine. Good on the high speed Mass turnpike and the twisty coast roads. 22 mpg driving locally, and 26-28 on the highway. Things we'd change. Make the fog lights standard, as those black inserts, which look like death rays, unfortunately aren't. Put a small hard plastic shield over the fabric adjacent to the driver's control armrest to protect it. The 4 star ratings are the ones I am comfortable giving at only 3000 miles.

Love this car

I bought the limited with navigation in June. This car is very comfortable, and has all the bells and whistles I could want. I set out for something all wheel drive with heated seats; my two priorities. I looked around and drove the sante fe and Subaru Forester. I liked the interior styling of the Forester, but the Santa Fe has a cushier ride for an SUV. I am very happy with my decision. I paid just under $30K- a steal for all of the amenities. My only complaint is that the console is a bit short; I can't rest my right arm and still hold the wheel. Otherwise, this is a great car!

very good performance for V6; 24.5mpg>1500m. trip

Navigation package; GPS could be improved; found that CD player took only single CD; no reason for 6CD as other brands such as Toyota have multi CD with their navigation system. Cargo area has set-up for privacy screen but my LTD V6 did not have; was told not available. Overall, the quality and comfort is excellent for the price as compared to Nissan Murano SL

Superb Price

I purchased this Hyundai one day ago and a Sonata last month. Being a multiple owner of many a Honda, I am amazed at the quality of the Hyundais. The main thing that got me into the show room is my son sells cars. He had spoken highly of the Hyundai product as a whole. Additionally I have been stationed in Korea so I know that these cars are durable. After purchasing and driving the Sonata SE for almost a month I was ready to take the plunge again. The Santa Fe SE my wife and I purchased has the Navigation, Sunroof and leather/cloth seat option. This car is loaded and I am so impressed with it because it is refined and rides well. I remember when Hyundais were introduced in the US and the quality was suspect. I am in awe of the smooth ride. They could have offered Auto climate control with this option that they didn't. Overall I am very happy. The only negative thing I experienced is a tad bit of torque steer. And most of all, my son sold both of the cars to my wife and I. I am so proud, even more so that I like the cars for real and don't have to lie to him.

Sweet ride

After 20 plus years owning Jeeps, my wife talked me into test driving a 2010 Santa Fe SE. It was a pleasant surprise. The ride is very smooth, the seats are very comfortable, and the controls are all within easy reach. The biggest surprise is the way the Santa Fe reacted towing my 17 foot boat. The shifting was smooth and the V6 never seemed to strain from the load. The V6 is giving me almost 26 mpg on the highway and 23 around town.

Best value for money

The Santa Fe gives the most value for the buck. Similarly equipped Muranos was priced about $8000 more. While the Murano was nicer, it was not worth the premium. The seats front and rear are very comfortable. Four people have plenty of space. I got the limited with all the gadgets I could want. The nav system works wonderfully. So far I'm getting 21 mpg with mostly city driving over 300 miles. That's incredible for a V6 with 276 hp. You can really feel how strong the engine is too. I chose this over its sister vehicle, the Kia Sorento. The Kia was cuter, but the Santa Fe had more comfortable seats (the Kia's were very hard), and better interior quality of materials. It also had better rear seat room and cargo room because the 3rd seat was not installed. (The 3rd seat is mandatory with the V6 in the Kia).
