2007 Sonata GL

The new ads for Hyundais, with the "hidden" camera inside the car during a test drive, are right on the money. It is a remarkably well-engineered car. Extremely quiet, super-smooth (though not flawless) ride, fine handling, adequate acceleration, good ergonomics, very good gas mileage. They really studied the Camry and the Accord and very nearly duplicated all the best features of those cars. If possible, get the SE model- a nice package. The GLS is fine with the power seat- the standard seat is too cheap (agree with CR on that one). At the price point this is a dream car.

Awesome Car!

I set out to buy a new Accent, but they turned out to be out of my price range. I wa steered to this AMAZING Sonata and am totally in LOVE! I respect the Hyundai brand having owned one in the past, but this purchase exceeded my standards! This will probably be the last car I buy and I am ecstatic. The features for the price are exceptional. Plus, I got lucky and found a 2007 model with about 10,500 miles on it! I am SO grateful I bought a wonderful, dependable car. Being disabled, this has been a very importatnt purchase for me.

Best car for the money

I am very happy with our recently purchased 2007 Hyundai Sonata, Limited V6. All the attributes of an Accord or Camry, for several thousand dollars less.

2007 Hyundai Sonata

Great car, even without the great price. Has all the features of the Accord, Camry or Altima, but costs much ($4,000 to $5,000) less. The most impressive features are the standard safety features: front & rear side curtain air bags & vehicle stability control.

High end budget car.

We have owned this car for over 1 year. The looks, drive and comfort are great. Some complain about the spongenest and feeling bumps but we have no complaints. We had 95 Buick custom and it seems the same. On the highway it is great and we get 20/31 just as reported in gov.fuel.com.We got the car form a trusted small lot and saved about $4000-$6000 compared to a dealers used car lot. It was 10 mo. old with 10990 miles. I called the company. We like all of the things that came standard. We bought when gas was $4.00 gal. and thought we should buy a compact but they were picked over. We decided on this 4 cyl. and have been very happy and it has plenty of power for us. It may or may not last like an Accord or a Camry but its a good buy and we highly reccommend. Tim

bad mileage

07 Sunata V6, I have had this car now for about 18 mo. baught it from the dealer with 7000 mi and now has 16000 mi. This thing can barely get 14 mpg around town and about 22 on the highway. Have had it into the dealer several times and all they can say is it is runing the way it is suposed to. Lucky me I cant aford to dump it, but other wise it a decent car.

Good value for what it is.

Just purchased a used 2007 Sonata GLS 4 cylinder. On the positive side, there is a lot of car for the money here. ABS, traction control, and stability control are all standard, and the car has a 5/60 warranty when purchased used. Engine is reasonably quiet and refined, similar to a 4 cylinder Camry. Mileage is in the 26-27 per gallon range with a mix of driving conditions. On the down side, these cars are not really comparable to the best in class (Accord, Jetta) in terms of driving dynamics. The suspension is much too soft, and road imperfections are felt and heard, often more than once. The car does not track well on uneven pavement, and there is a dash rattle that comes and goes. The automatic transmission tends to hunt between gears when going uphill. I understand that the new 2009 Sonata has addressed some of these issues. The 2006-2008 version is a good value, but do not expect the driving pleasure of an Accord, Jetta, or Mazda6.

Great buy for first car

This is a great car to buy if you are like me and know very little about automobiles. The 6 airbags w/ the passenger sensor definitely make you feel safe even if you never need to use them. For a car it is very roomie and can fit 5 adults w/o much of a problem. Easy for elderly to get in and out of. Handles well even when road conditions are poor. The wheels abaility to act seperately in a skid/slide is great when driving on ice. Negative is that my milage seems to stay about 20-22mpg even on the highways.

Great value for the money

I have the V6 and the power and handling are great. I like the looks, too. I have two criticisms. First, the driver's seat is not as comfortable as it could be on long trips. The seat bottom should be longer and the side bolsters more prominent. Secondly, the radio is lousy It can't pick up even the strongest Dallas stations when I get much more than 60 or 70 miles away. Overall, however, I'm glad I bought it.

Family car

I drive both highway & city driving and I'm getting 32 miles to the gallon on the highway.BUT, city driving I'm getting only 17 miles to the gallon. As for the ride, very quiet on the highway, but the car does not handle on bumps very well!! The seats are not very comfortable for long trips. For a family of four there is plenty of room. Very good truck space.
