The first regret of my life.

I drove the tester, beautiful..comfortable, powerful. Bought the car-after 3 days the suspension started making a noise, a banging almost and one side hard the other soft. I have a manual and the transmission started getting difficult to get in and change gear. Accelerator seems weird, a delay in the response - put that down to acc. module. Dealer finds no problem. I made a mistake, be careful!GLi4Man.2010, Canada.

Great car for bad weather

I had no intention of buying a new car. Usually I buy used Camrys and drive them into the ground but when the cost of recent used Camrys was more than the Sonata I reconsidered. I ended up buying a 2009 Sonata Limited with a V6. The V6 has more than enough pep, the amenities are great and the interior is spacious. I am a guy and am very comfortable. The only complaint I have is that the low-profile 17-inch tires cause a sometimes harsh reaction when they hit road imperfections. Other than than - and I was told by another owner that changing the cheap factory tires would help there, the ride is smooth and quiet. In the rainy Pacific NW, it is nearly the perfect commute car; even with the V6 it gets good gas mileage and with all the mountains around here the V6 comes in handy.

Great Value

I purchased my new 4 cylindar Sonata Limited with navigation approximately 3 months ago. I drive the car on highways mostly and enjoy the quiet ride. After three months here are my opinions of the car. * The 4 cylindar has plenty of power for my needs. The car gets approximately 28 mpg on mostly highway driving. The gas mileage is inline with the EPA estimates. * The trunk has plenty of room from my golf clubs, laptop bag, and a box of work material. Trunk room is left over. * The seats are comfortable but not outstanding. * The handling is secure but not sporty. * The navigation system is average. The user interface is quite good. The navigation interface is better than my brother's TL's navigation interface. The maps are poor. The maps appear to be more than five years old in my area. Most of the newer stores are not listed in the map. Interestingly churchs are not listed in the map system. The navigation routing is below average too. The system created one route over gravel roads when asphalt roads would have worked just as good. * The stereo sound is good. The stereo interface is very good. A USB input is available standard. The navigation screen changes to a stereo touch screen which shows my 100+ albums from my USB jump drive. I don't need an Ipod. All artists, album titles, and song titles are listed. Problems with the stereo include no song information is listed when a CD is used, but I don't carry CD's anymore. TRACK 1 is displayed instead of the song title. The random button jumps from album to album on my jump drive instead of jumping from song to song inside the same album. * I have not noticed any suspension noise. The car drives very quite. All and all I'm very happy with my Sonata. I saved over $4,500 over the comparably equiped Toyota's, Honda's, and Nissans. I recommend this vehicle to all.

as of now (awsome value)

we opted for the se v6 over the limited, liked the feel and handeling, and all the standard equipment on the se were actualy more than we expected, we found them after purchase such as trip computor. Also had several add ons at no extra charge, carpeted floor matts even in the trunk, mud flaps, and professionl window tinting on the solar glass with body stripping also, full tank of gas. All this plus the best warranty in the industry. Go find a compeditor in this class with all these features for the same price...not!! someone mentioned in their review that several higher priced brands have a little more horsepower in their v6, this is true, however the v6 Sonata off the shelf has been clocked and test drove at over 145 mph.But if it is important to you to go over 150 you may be more suited to a car made for that type of driving. Good luck finding one with the price and fuel economy. I did not see any add that put the sonata the sports car class. We bought a nice family sedan that gets good gas mileage rides great, quite, classy, and we think is very pretty in and out. put all top compeditors side by side there is very little difference in the style. I guess you know what i think about the Sonata. Took advantage of the cash for clunkers w/ my GM. Got about $9000. off sticker.

Horrible mistake

I am retired and spent my savings on this car to travel in only to find out I can not afford to use the cruise control because of the terrible gas mileage it gets in cruise. It kicks out of overdrive on every SLIGHT encline, sometimes you don't even know you are going up hill. I can't believe the transmission can last long when it shifts 2 or more times in most every mile.Hyundai says this is perfectly normal for 09 and newer models and will do nothing. This is my second and last Hyundai. My 2001 waas ok. Please, please, please do not buy a hyundai!

Great commuter car

I purchased this car primarily as a commuter car with back-up duty as a family car. It does everything as advertised. The base model has a long list of standard safety and comfort features that many similar cars do not offer or offer at a much higher price. The Sonata is not excactly the most fun car I've ever driven, but after 17000 miles, it hasn't missed a beat and has delivered a great value.

Comfort that lacks horsepower

The car drives very smooth and the handling is slugish along with a wide turning radiance. The car sets to high to have the performance that is needed to take curves and corners without any over correction. The engine is lacking in the performance category. When a V-6 Volkswagen beats you that is pretty disturbing. For the price that you pay it lacks in exterior appearance. A small spoiler would help along with wider tires and premium rims. The stereo is lacking an equalizer and power. Hyundai should offer a version of the GLS with a Vortech supercharger that would kick up the ailing 3.3 liter slug for a engine. Overall it is a very reliable family car.

I love hyundai cars.

I just bought my 3rd hyundai, 2nd sonata and they have all been fantastic rides. I recently switched from 06 sonata v6 LX to a 09 sonata 4cyl. GLS. Sure I miss some luxuries and the horsepower, but the GLS is nicely equiped for the money. I have also gone from 21-22 mpgs to 26-29 mpgs in the 4cyl. around town. I am very pleased with the 09 and would recomend either v6 or 4cyl. to anyone in this market for a family sedan compare it to the big guns like honda and toyota.

Terrific Value!

I've had my 2009 Sonata Limited for 10 months and 16,000 miles. After owning 3 Accords, I switched and have absolutely no regrets. Necessities for me were a 4 cylinder, leather interior, and stability control - a combination not found at the time on several other competitors I drove. However, it's also loaded with other features - especially love the Nav system and the XM radio. Ride quality is excellent - this car really shines on highway driving. Have gotten as high as 37 mpg on an interstate trip, which is fantastic. Beautiful interior, classy (if generic) exterior. And the clincher - the price is fantastic. Saved at least $4,500 over a comparably equipped Accord. Bottom line - this is not a sports sedan - I know, my wife drives a Legacy GT, which is a hoot - but it is a superb car for everyday/highway driving. If the reliability holds (so far, absolutely no problems), I am delighted!
