Extremely Pleased With My Purchase
In the past 2 years I have owned an audi a4 1.8t and a honda accord, and I WISH I had known about this vehicle sooner. For the price I paid both buying and fixing my vehicle's I could have already paid for my sonata. This car is the definition of luxurious and the turbo is even better than it was in my audi. It's definitely worth it to invest in the limited edition and it's a fraction of the cost of many cars out there. I didn't really believe the gas mileage (it seemed too good to be true) but by driving consciously I realize I am getting even better gas mileage than expected. I've never felt the need to review a vehicle but this car deserves to be praised. I am one proud owner!

2012 Sonata
My sister and I eached purchased a 2012 Hyundai Sonata in 2013. One year after having the vehicles we have encountered the same problems. It began with the steering wheel shaking as if it is about to fall in your lap. Next the a/c went out. Then both alternators went out and now when I'm driving the car slows down while I'm pushing the accelerator and my brake light comes on and stays on in the middle of the night til morning. The great thing for my sister is that she was able to trade hers in, however, I am stuck with having a big balance on a vehicle that hasn't been good since I purchased it. So disappointed in the Sonata!!! I think the 2012s are the only ones having these major problems that the manufacturers are failing to look into. I wish they would do something.

My Sonata
I could honestly say that I've owned this car for almost 5 years now and still looks fresh. I've been using this for work, commuting, family outdoor trips and sports. Overall its been really good aside from replacing the battery (w/c I was told would be every 4 years and specifically thru Hyundai dealership due to specifications w/c is fine) and tires. The style, leg room, technology and performance is really good. The new cars that are coming out now, I've noticed they're close to imitating the Sonata's rear design. Handling and acceleration is good! I just hope that had better speakers that came with the car. Overall its a great car! : )

Great Car
I'm 83 yrs old and have owned many cars, but this one is the best one I've ever had. It handles well and so far haven't had any problems. The exterior is a dream to keep clean and the interior comes close to that. I'm old school so I don't have need for some of the features like the young say they need, but I would recommend the car to anyone.

Eh, There's Room For Improvment
I used to own the GLS model. It was a fair car. I did not like the safety of it, and the controls were confusing. The trunk space was acceptable, as in most Hyundai vehicles. Very basic car. I did like the color options, though! Unless you are looking for very basic transportation, do not invest the 2012 Hyundai Sonata GLS.

Great
Purchased new, and loved it. Smooth shifting, roomy interior, sharp exterior. Plenty of power and responsiveness, great value and efficiency. This car was totaled after someone pulled out in front of my wife with our 6 month old baby in the car. She walked away and the baby showed no ill effects. I've heard several stories from friends who have walked away from Sonatas they have totaled. Safety seems to be very impressive.

Dont trust Hyundai
I bought my 2012 Sonata 2.0T Limited in Sept 2011 & literally have had issues since day 2. I bought the car & took it home to wash it & I noticed that the bottom rocker panels (goes along the bottom sides of the car) the paint was chipping where it met the sheet metal (poor manufacturing). Took it back & told them I wanted them to re-paint it because I didn't want it to rust where it had chipped. They put up a fight & ultimately they painted it. Then at 5k miles it started having turbo issues (it wasn't spooling properly to give it boost) Had the waste gate actuator replaced TWICE. I have the panoramic roof and by about 13k miles (not even a year old) the roof was creaking. Went round & round & 3x to the dealer to get it fixed for the fear that it was going to shatter while driving (as some have said has done) they finally figured out what it was. Had the rear suspension repaired do to "creaking" when ever going over any uneven surface. At 27k started having trans issues as in not being able to take it out of park so I would be stuck and unable to drive it. Drivers side auto up/dwn window quit. Stereo screen went out. At 32k the trans would do a hard lurch when taking it out of park. And now the push button on the door handle to unlock drivers doors will work when it wants to...all before 40k miles. I have co workers that have the same cars or Elantras and we all have issues. Do your research on this car and read the SERVICE BULLETINS for any car you are wanting to buy. That is where issues are logged mostly by mechanics before they become recalls. Hyundai is pretty bad. Hope people take head to my warnings as Im trading mine in. I just don't have the heart to sell it to someone myself.
