Good, but beware of electrical gremlins
So, I managed to get ahold of my used 2016 Tucson SE before used car prices sky rocketed, about 16 grand before taxes, title, etc... you may wonder, how is it? Well, almost 1 year and over 10000 miles later, I can safely say it's a good car, not a great car, but a good one. You do get a pretty decent array of features in the base model, mine has the options package so it gets fog lights, power drivers seat, and steering wheel audio controls, there may be more, but those are the ones that stand out the most. The interior, though full of cheap plastic you'd come to expect from a base model, does look good on the inside, and the seats are surprisingly comfortable, the cloth feels nice and they're fairly plush. Interior room is good for a compact, great headroom means tall riders will sit comfortably and the back seat reclines which is a nice change from the usual fixed bench seat if you find the regular seat angle to be uncomfeconomy. Performance is average, it's not slow, but it's not quick either, though the added sport mode does help, at the cost of fuel economy. An eco mode is also available for improved fuel efficiency Unfortunately, at just 63,500 miles, electrical gremlins are rearing their ugly heads. A wheel speed sensor and some fault in the SRS system have occurred near simultaneously, and both rear windows no longer work. The engine is great, but I feel Hyundai cheaped out on electronics, and it's starting to show in whats otherwise been a pretty good car in my almost year of ownership.

Costly to repair
2020 had to replace 2 power windows on both sides for $550 ( not under warranty) 2022 had to have full heater/ evaporator replaced for $ 2200( not under warranty) because airco only blew cold air. Tuscan 2016 car with 91.000 miles

Air conditioner problems
At 45,000 miles had to have compressor replaced. At 63,000 miles (after warranty ended) AC starts blowing hot to cool and now just HOT. 2016 1.6T Limited LEMONS cost $30,000…Hyundai is fully aware of thousands of cars with same issue and refuse to recall and fix! Worst car ever. I own a 2013 Nissan with 149,000 and still runs great and AC cools perfect!

buena compra para su precio
Hace tres años que lo tengo , vehículo confiable. Aunque las roturas han costado más de lo esperado. El mayor problema son los reguladores de las ventanas. Creo que los deben revisar.

Like everything about it
Love having the backup camera and side mirror warning system. As a senior driver these are all great amenities. Heated seats in the northeast are the best. I have a sport, so the different driving modes are handy as well. The warning signals to diagnose immediate problems is great too. my only concern is that I got a note about a recall and dealer noted that there was not a fix yet for my make and year of car. somehting to do with the Electronic Stability system.

The 2016 is the best looking SUV we believe.
Meets all requirements we were expecting for size and comfort. The 2022 will be a bit larger, but the 2016 is just right for us

Window Regulator
My biggest complaint with my 2016 Tucson is faulty window regulators . So far the drivers side & passenger side front & rear needed to be replaced. Luckily they were still under warranty. Also had to replace one window switch. I live in So. Florida and use the AC 12 months out of the year. Hardly raise & lower the windows.

Worst car I’ve ever owned
This SUV was a rolling death trap with the DCT design. Never had a chance to really like this car as from week one I had issues with the duel clutch auto transmission. Car would lose power pulling out into traffic, trying to get going again if you needed to stop on a hill, or trying to use all wheel drive on hills in the winter. Literally almost got hit a few times pulling out into traffic and would sometimes take 2 or 3 light cycles getting up the hill near my house coming home from work. Hyundai refused to do anything about the issue and would simply say “ya it’s the DCT great design but a lot of people don’t like it at first you just need to learn how it works because the transmission is fine”. Also for the upgraded models they put the big rims on the suv that are nothing but issues 1) in winter snow packs into them causing car to shake bad so you always need to clean them out 2) the tires it takes are specific to that car so when you need to replace and they need replacing about every 20-25k miles because the rims that are very costly.

Great City SUV!
I used to own a 2016 Hyundai Tucson Turbo Limited (not AWD). I just recently traded it in for a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder due to the need of more room for a family of 5. Which doesn't take away from the Tucson, we just needed more space. We had the limited edition Tucson. Exterior styling is great. Actually one of the better looking compact SUVs out there. LED DRLs and HID headlights w/ fog lights. Fully loaded. It didn't come with apple carplay or android auto but you can't beat the OEM warranty and if you got it brand new or CPO it comes with bumper to bumper zero deductible warranty. Which is great! I don't worry for another 100k miles; peace of mind. The interior is decent, but with an all leather interior I wish there were heated rear seats and not only the front. A lot of cargo space and auto liftgate is a plus. The only downside of the 2016 Tucson that I experienced and others have in forums is the known transmission stutter with the DSG. If Hyundai was trying to achieve the feel of a manual transmission; great job! you have achieved it. When first driving or even taking off from a light, it is very prominent. I thought after a year I would get used it, but no... it just got really old. So if you don't mind the clutch feel like you didn't release the clutch and enough gas on the pedal (manual transmission drivers know) then you should be good with this vehicle. Overall... still a good car, plenty of room for a family of 4 but not for a family of 5 and more.
