Warranty determines dependability

My Tucson hit the 60k mark in the midst of the quarantine. It was around 59,800 in April. My right hip also went out and required surgery in May. The surgeon was 87 miles (one way) away. The first window went out the day of surgery on the way home (59,950 miles). The back window on the same side went out the next week when I went for my follow up (59,990). By the time we go to the closet dealership (80 miles away) it was “past the warranty” and they wanted approximately $1250 to fix both. It was at about 60,497 (it was just under 60,500) And they refused to honor the warranty even though appointments were hard to get due to quarantine and such. We took it to a local mechanic (excellent reputation) and it was $250 less. While he was pulling it in to start the front passenger window and planning the back passenger window next the front DRIVER window quit! We will duct tape the back window since the driver window is used more. And I plan to put a warning on the tape to help others! The company refused to offer any help even with the extenuating circumstances. Warranty runs out and it starts falling apart! Literally, the back window just dropped as I was driving with my grandson. Scared us to death!

Most reliable car I have owned

I love how comfortable it is, heated seats get very warm, beautiful exterior, great room for passengers and loading groceries or home improvement products. Great sound, enough room for my dogs to relax, spare tire with pump. I just love it

They lost a good customer.

I bought our sixth Hyundai from them. A used 2017 Tuscon Limited with the ultimate package. I now see why it only had 11,000 miles on it. That model had a number of class action suits. I should have done better research. The transmission has many issues. It put me in very dangerous situations a number of times. They talked me into purchasing a CPO warranty. I ended up trading the car in on a Mazda after six months of ownership. I contacted the dealer about getting a refund on the remainder of the warranty. They said I didn't purchase a "wrap" warranty. I've lost about $5,000 for six months of ownership. Buyer beware. Make sure to read the fine print.

Most reliable car I've owned

I test drove the Rav4, CX-5, Escape, and Santa Fe before deciding finally on the Tucson. My previous vehicle was a VW GTI, so it was important to me to get something that still looked and felt sporty while driving it and this Tucson qualifies for all of that. While I felt the CX-5 handled slightly better around curves, the Tucson gave a smooth and quiet ride. The acceleration is there when I need it, without the bumps of a sporty suspension. The cargo cover and mats do not come standard and can carry a hefty price tag. I will say I have noticed that this 7-speed transmission can take some getting used to. Much like my GTI DSG transmission, even though it's an automatic, it FEELS like a manual at times. On inclines, and some coasting to acceleration scenarios the transmission has lagged to shift into the correct gear. I'm currently researching this to see if there is something wrong or just something to get used to. Update: There were some software updates Hyundai provided regarding the transmission and that did improve things dramatically. While I feel like the acceleration is better than most of the SUV/Crossovers I test drove, it still doesn't "GO!" like I was used to with my GTI, which is just an unrealistic expectation for this type of vehicle & price point. For example, If I don't continue accelerating through a 4 leaf clover on-ramp to get on the interstate (and coast through the curve instead), it takes a long time to get up to speed, even if the "pedal is to the metal." I think I only notice this because I came from the GTI which was VERY responsive. Now that the weather is cooler, my rear seat passengers love their rear seat heaters, and everyone seems to have plenty of legroom. I love the extra space I get when I fold the seats down, too.

Reliable and Comfortable

I enjoy driving and I love everything about my car. It is dependable, comfortable and a pleasure to drive. I routinely make 5 hour drives to visit my daughters and I am thankful that this car serves so well. Bonus: I have gone through 2 winters with no problems at all.
