well....

great car for about six months. then things began to happen... i was driving down the road and my navigation just turned on and began beeping at me. my check engine light was blinking like a strobe light, my air conditioning turned off, and all of my gauges were going haywire...as in swinging randomly, telling me im going 160... it was pretty freaky. so i drove straight to the dealer where i bought the jeep, let them drive it and what happened to them? nothing. about a month later i was driving some friends home and the same thing happened agian. i showed them and they got a video of it to show to the dealer. they wouldnt even look at the video and said it was my battery (yeah... this is another way of saying get out of my face lady) but whatever. they replaced my battery. nothing happened for about two weeks and it happened agian. this time they said it was my computer so they replaced that at my expense which was in the thousands. i thought "well, it should be fine now." so i kept driving it. it crossed the line with me when i was on the interstate in the far left land and it happened agian. but this time, my car TURNED ITSELF OFF AND LEFT ME DRIFTING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WITH NO BRAKES, NO TURN SIGNAL, NO ONSTAR, NO POWER STEERING AND NO POWER TO MY CAR. i was frantically trying to work my way over to the right lane to eventually come to a hault. (i had to wait until the car just stopped because i didnt have brakes while this was going on) so i finally got in the right lane and tried to slow down on the side of the road but the car turned itself back on, but on full throttle. so i start going down the interstate at around 100 mph with absolutely no control over the speed of my car. finally i pulled the keys out and pulled on my e-brake. the sudden stop almost flipped the car and made me break my nose on the steering wheel. i got it towed on the spot and i havent driven in since. i could be dead because of this car

Best Car I've ever owned!

I am just getting ready to return this vehicle off lease and already looking forward to leasing a new 2009. This vehicle has been great to own and drive. The V-8 has plenty of power and if driven correctly, not to bad on gas either. I would highly recommend this SUV to anyone.

I'll never buy a Jeep again

If I'm very careful I can get 16 mpg in city, Tires are a joke, almost gone at 36,000 miles. I gave up taking it to the dealer for any repair or routine maintance, 36,000 mile check up was to cost about 1,000... for checking the belts, fluids, and oil change, I refused and the service agent in a very surly voice said she would make a note the I refused it... I asked her if she needed a reason, no she said, But I gave her one anyway and took my business elsewhere to bad the jeep is such a piece of Garbage, it could be a very nice ride.

On the fence still

I have owned this car for just over 1 yr. When it was time to car shop when went knowing we wanted a Jeep Grande Cherokee. For some reason my husband had to have a 4x4. Lord knows we've only used it once. The gas is terrible on this for me. I drive on avg. 32 miles a day. Split b/w highway,city/country driving. I know what the EMG is but I get on avg. 15.2/gal. Having owned a honda accord b/4 this that got me over 25/gal I'm sad I gave it up. My complaint on this is the cloth interior. I swear you can spill water on the seat and it will stain. Now it is easy to remove stains when you shampoo but I don't have time to get that thing out everytime my son throws his sippy cup down and some leaks out. We had alot of problems w/ a rear"boot" breaking causing squeaking when driving through like the ditch to get to my yard. Got that fixed through the factory warranty. Also not impressed w/ the A/C. Compared to my husbands quad cab Chevy z71 mine takes a good five mins. too cool down. Also I can put it on to blow on the face and it seems to need to "warm" up b/4 it starts blowing, it will start blowing out on the feet instead. Though it is only on face. Atleast it works. We have towed a 16ft boat, a 12 ft. pop up camper and a 16 ft enclosed trailer loaded down w/ tools. Pulls good. We don't regularly pull the enclosed trailer but if need be it does have the power to handle it. The others were a breeze to handle. What I do like is it's small (to me) like a car and I can whiz in and out of traffic or parking spots. Neg. is it has lots of blind spots. I got use to that though. We are thinking of getting rid of this for something better on gas but so far I can't find anything better on gas that has the ability to pull a small pop up and a small boat. We may end up just having to bite the bullet on this one and keep it. Though I don't want to w/ gas prices rising. Also the only difference interior wise to me compared to my 97 Accord is that there is more height space, there is no more (possibly less) leg room in front seat and back seat.

EXTRA ! EXTRA! STICKER LIES - DEALER SHRUGS

Piece of garbage in the city. When confronting the dealer about the misreprestation of the EPA sticker on the car at purchase... they blame the government and shotty standards. Funny how that is not Jeep's responsibility. Expect 7-10 mph in the city... Ten is with the wind behind you, in neutral. If you look at the top WORST gas mileage cars.... this jeep gets to keep company with Lamborghini's, Maybach, Bentleys, Bugattis, and Ferraris. The ONLY american car on there amongst some of the top luxury cars in the world. Chyrsler should be ashamed.

Another Review From Jeep Hater From Virginia

I wrote a review on February 18, 2008 - here it is 2 weeks later and my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee is back in the shop. Previous repair visit: The truck was at Jeep for 3 days (Feb. 18 - 20). Problem? Electrical system. Solution? New computer system installed - at JEEP'S COST! Even though vehicle is out of 3yr/36k mile warrenty, Jeep paid for the new computer system - so obviously this is a problem and they know it. On March 5, 2008 Engine Check Light comes on again. Later in the day the vehicle's front end starts "bouncing" like it's in a rap video! Vehicle is back at Ford - who will take it to Jeep to be looked at and repaired as necessary. We're out of patience with this vehicle.

Not a great vehicle!

I bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2005 brand new and already I have had to replace the battery and the water pump! Also, my interior lights do not work properly. It's a great looking vehicle and it handles quite nicely. The features are also very nice, but it's obviously not reliable!!!

Hate vehicle, stuck with it though

Bought used 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee in August 2006 with 29,000 miles (5.7L Hemi). It's been almost 2 years and has 45,000 miles. This vehicle has been nothing but a pain since we bought it. Initially had problems with the steering column - had that fixed twice. Then it was in for 30k service and cost over $1000.00!! What a rip off from Jeep. Then Engine Check Light was on - but "nothing" was wrong - per Jeep. It started stalling out - WHILE DRIVING! Again, "nothing" was wrong - per Jeep. In the past 2 months, vehicle has stalled out at least four times - once while parked, three times while driving. Three weeks ago Engine Light came on. Was told it's the EGR (?) Valve. Light has been coming on/off for weeks. Today car is at Ford - thank goodness for their Premium Care Plan for used vehicles. Will find out what is truly wrong with it!!!! We hate this truck - love how it looks and the power of the HEMI - but wouldn't buy another Jeep, nor would we recommend it to anyone!

there is no interior room

When we were in the car market for a new car after our 2003 Ford Explorer was due in after our lease was up. We thought we wanted a 5 passenger full-size sedan, but after driving my son's 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we knew what we wanted. We went to the Jeep dealership while my ypungest son was at camp, and when we picked him up in the new car he was so excited. But after only about a year we started noticing prblems. The air condtioner/heat kept breaking and we've had to replace it three times and again, it just broke again last week, so now four times. My son who used to love it, he is a car fanatic, but now at 13, he hates the car and especillly it second row of seats. The seats are so low to the floor, and really hard on long trips. My 15 year old daugter complains that it has no third row, and therefore she cannot have any friends come with us to the cabana. The car it very sluggich with the V6 engine and returns terrible fuel economy at ony 11 miles per gallon around town, and I drive with a light foot! This June we are looking at another Ford explorer, Ford taurus X, GMC acadia, and possible the Toyota highlander hybrid.

Great Vehicle - I love it!

"I feel important to share my thoughts on this vehicle since I read several Owner reviews before I actually purchased this vehicle. Now, I am six months into owning my 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited with HEMI engine and it has been well worth the money. The performance has been great and the vehicle has given me no issues. It is always fun to drive and on highways it is more fun. The MDS system on HEMI seems to work on highway driving and I get good mileage on long trips. In city it has been heavy on gas but the fun to drive aspect makes it well worth it. I already have put in 10,000 miles on the vehicle since I bought in June 2007. I also like the fact that MOPAR accessories can be easily added to it if your vehicle dosent come with a lot of factory installed options. For anyone considering this vehicle, I will highly recommend it. If you have the extra money, go for the HEMI since they usually come with all options loaded. Good Luck."
