A JEEP FOR ALL SEASONS

I purchased my '04 Lib at 25,000 mi. I live in northern MN and wanted a vehicle with a 4WD option that was comfortable and didn't have a choppy ride. This was the only vehicle my husband and I could agree upon! I like the part- or full-time 4WD option in the winter -- however if the road is even somewhat icy, better shift to FT 4WD because this rear end on this thing comes around so quickly due to its rear wheel drive that it's scary. A morning ice glaze on a bridge in October sent me spinning. On the plus side, the front seats are comfortable and everything is within easy reach. The only thing I don't like is the hump that juts into my gas-pedal foot putting it at an awkward angle for longer rides. The back seat folds easily down and it and the cargo area hold my two dogs or hunting gear nicely. Started experiencing slips in the transmission at about 40,000 and have 52,000 now. Slippage is more pronounced in cold weather than in warm. If the Liberty had better fuel economy, it would be a definate keeper. Eventually, though my husband will adopt it as a woods rig in a few years.

this isn't that bad for an suv

it's not the best in fuel millage but what do people expect it a 4wheel drive JEEP it going to burn more fuel than TOYOTA but you get what you want. i live in canada an so i like how the engine warm up very quickly and well if you spent more money on aftermarket parts like air filters, tornado i get 18MPG city and 23mpg Hwy So i'm not complaining at all i want a suv to protect my family a liberty will do the Job right but i will agree with other Reviewers it resell value is not good at all but if you choose to have a second car keep the liberty and not lose all there money that way

Very much worth the money

I bought a 2004 Jeep Liberty 4wd sport about two months ago. Within a week, the transmission come out of it with only 43,000 miles. I thought I had really messed up. I had the 7 year/70,000 mile warranty and my local Jeep dealership put a new transmission in it and it only cost me the 100 dollar deductible. Since then, I have fell in love with this vehicle. I am 20 years old and since I got my license at 16, I have had 15 different vehicles including 4wd trucks, cars, and other 4wd SUVs. This Jeep performs better than all of the vehicles I have had. The only thing I would change is for it to have a little bit better take off. I baby my vehicles and I hate running it up to anything over 2500 rpms to shift but to take off and keep up with traffic at times, you atleast have to run it up to 3000rpms. And yes, mine is an automatic. I would reccommend this vehicle to anyone who wants to feel like they are driving a 4wd. I get between 18 and 19mpg and thats all you can get out of it. Trust me, I baby this thing and I think the only way you could get better is if you drove long trips in excess of 100 miles at a time without stopping. My job is 25 miles from home, no redlights at 55mph and thats just simply all you can get out of it. This is an excellent vehicle and is perfect for getting to the deer stand in the middle of the woods and going out with my family camping on the weekends.

Best SUV I Have Ever Owned

I have owned Chevy's and a 96' Eddie Bauer Explorer 4x4. This Limited Model with 3.7 V6 and 235lbs of torque has excellent acceleration and handling characteristics, both on and off road. It is "trail Rated" and has Select Trac set up with Low Range Rock Crawling gears. It's like driving a tank up bolders and over downed trees. Yet has the comfort of heated leather seats, mirrors, pw roof.

Very confortable and fun.

My jeep liberty renagade is very fun to drive. It has the horse power to get aroud people but not too much to over power the driver. It looks as good as it handles off road (which is very good). And all the avaliable features I have in mine makes it the most confortable vehicle I have ever owned. It has plenty of space to cary things like my friends exahust for his car, and it has great towing capacity, up to 5000 lbs. The only thing that I am not completly happy with is the gas mileage. I get an average of only about 15 mpg, but with all the other great attributes, I can live with the low mpg.

Perfect commuter car

I haul around my kids daily and fill up the back with stuff I buy to do home repair projects. If there's no passengers with me, I can drop half the back seat and feed long items through for hauling. Don't like the dark carpet, it catches my dogs' hairs and they are light colored. Pug hair resists vacuuming! I've never had a problem driving on snow and ice and I have 2WD. AC works fine in summer. Love the moon roof! I can vent it in the spring and have a breeze without the chopper sound you get with the windows down. Not too bad on gas consumption. Wish it was roomier on long road trips. The kids get very antsy in the back seat. It is perfect for daily commuting though. I like that it sits tall like and Expedition so I can see what's ahead in traffic. Do NOT like the backseat cupholders in the door-full cups will splash when opening/closing the doors. We bought it new with lots of rebates. I've had it 2 1/2 years and I still like it! It's my 2nd Jeep.

definitely the nicest vehicle that I could buy

I spent about 6 months looking at any and everything that I could buy because I had to replace my car for an impending move. For no apparent reason, I just ignored jeep products altogether for quite sometime, and then I happened across this nice little suv and was amazed at how wonderful it was, and to top it off it was in my range (under $15,000) and it had a lot of nice options as opposed to getting something that was completely stripped down. thanks and kudos to jeep for making something that is affordable, fun and practical all rolled up in an attractive little ball

uses less gas than expected

the gas mileage was a lot better than what i expected. as first i was thinking that because if the bigger engine than i was used to that it would be bad but it is actually better. also i like the design of the inside but i wish there was a little less plastic on the outside

Very nice I love Jeeps.

I am not sure why people are getting angry. They bought a Jeep, although it is not the best riding around I expected what I got. I enjoy the stiff ride myself it is feels like a 4x4 not a car. But it is a stiff strong feel not mushy like the Escape. If you want an SUV that does as well off road as it does on road then the Jeep Liberty is for you. It is not a car with AWD it is a true 4x4. In Alaska it drives like a champ.
