1998 Jeep Wrangler consumer reviews

I love my Jeep and plan on keeping it forever. It's easy to work on and very dependable. That said, it's very loud at highway speeds and this can get old on long trips. Also, the EPA fuel estimates are WAY off. Plan on getting 7-9 mpg city and 10-12 hwy. One weakness is the electrical system. The interior wiring, components, and switches are very vulnerable to water. If you live along the Gulf Coast or anywhere with strong thunderstorms, make sure you don't let it get rained in.

I owned a 1998 Jeep Wrangler and it was beat up from the start. It never had any engine problems but the radiator was leaking so i sold it i couldn't deal with the electrical problems it had. I'm sure mine was defective and the owner before me was harsh on it. So I sold it and got myself a different American car.

I absolutely love my Jeep! If it weren't for the mpg, I would love it even more. I think that's its only flaw. They are awesome cars.

for over 10 years now. Aside from the expected maintenance (brakes, shocks, tires oil changes, muffler, etc) this thing has been extremely reliable. It honestly runs and looks as good as new

This has be fun to drive and the best 4WD I have owned. I do not worry about taking this on a long trip or into a remote area. I kow I'll get back.
