Cheat seats
The Sorento is a great car as long as you don't have a long commute. The seat are very hard and this can take a toll on your backside. Change the seats and you have a great car.

Great SUV for Less money
I drove a Ford Escape and Ford Edge. Both were more money and not as large. This is big SUV you can get for lots less money. Styling is great and it's made in Alabama too.

And the winner is.....
I agonized over which SUV to buy. I wanted one of the smaller models that would get better mileage than a Cherokee. I considered the Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV, Hyundai Tuscon and Santa Fe, Kia Sportage and Sorento. The CR-V was impressive especially when it came to price and storage but not a lot of features I wanted such as more electrical outlets and an integrated stereo bluetooth and ipod interface unless you get the EX-L for about $28,000. The engine is a little underpowered and you don't sit up as high and the safety ratings aren't as good as the others. Next one I rejected was the 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. I love the storage, comfort and electronics but cant get past the loose steering. It's all over the place! They call it "Torque Steer" I call it dangerous. I love the Tuscan. For me it came down to the Tuscan or Sorento. The Sportage was too squaty looking and the visibility was poor. The RAV4 was too expensive, I didn't like the tire on the back door and the way the rear hatch swings out towards the curb. The Sorento is safe, gets good mileage, has all the electronic gadgetry I like and the styling is not boring. It also sits up high and handles well without the loosie-goosie steering of the Santa Fe. I chose the white with tan fabric seats 2WD 4dr I4-GDI LX. I don't see how you can beat this SUV in this price range. I paid about $25k.

Best ride I've ever owned
This car has the smoothest ride. After owning a Toyota Corolla and 2 Camrys I never thought I would buy anything other than a Toyota. The price of the Sorento with all of the extras (roof racks, leather, heated seats and mirrors, 3rd row, V6, panoramic sunroof, 18" wheels) is way better than anything in it's class. The gas mileage for the v6 is around 25 highway, which is also better than anything in it's class. I took a chance buying a Kia and I'm in love!!!

Not so delighted
I bought my Kia Sorento 2011 a little over a year ago. It is the EX 4 cylender. First mistake.... the 4 cyl just does not have the power pick up it needs - should have a turbo on it-- it takes a while to get up to 60 --then it will go. The ride is really rough. you feel every bump in the road. I have clothe interior - it stains badly -- even the water spots wont come out. The interior is just cheaply made. The carpet is coming part, the plastic around the seatbelt is so cheap that my fingernalis scratch it. My dash is already fading and trying to warp. There have been 2 recalls on the vehicle in a year. Hey.....it looks good though....

Questioning my purchase?
Needed a new vehicle, after shopping around we could not beat the price of the Kia Sorento. It had everything we needed. I was happy with is for 5 months, then one day I broke down, I expected that from my 11 yr old car, reason for needing a new vehicle. Needed a new alternator, after this incident now I have more problems. THe right passenger car door is literally stuck inside the car, the interior panel is detached from exterior door and stuck inside the car. Back to dealership to have it fixed, they pushed it back in, 3 days later stuck again, interior panel now broken from opening the door , only opens a few inches. Not very happy right now. Trying to find out what happened when alternator was replaced.

Decent for the Money
If your goal is fuel economy with great looks, then this is for you. If your goal is luxury and comfort, then you may want to shop around. Our ne Sorento is the EX model w/a 4 cyl engine. We added leather seating. It had to be returned twice to repair a rattle in the rear seats. It does get great fuel mielage compared to our previous Nissan Murano, but that is the only area that the Sorento would even come close to comparing with our old Murano. The Sorento has a very rigid suspension that gives it a ride that I like compare to one of those old red wagons in which my Dad used to pull me around when I was a kid. DON'T buy the 4 cyl engine becaus it would also compare to that old red wagon. (Which obviously has no power) All I can say is that it does have a few neat electronic features, and it is a good buy for fuel economy, but it is in no way a luxury crossover.

Nice MPG
Sorento replaced 02 Tahoe. I was concerned about a lack of power, but the Sorento came through. I use it everyday and I'm getting almost 26mpg. Did Phoenix, to Vegas to San Diego with no issues through the mountains. Handles well. Brakes nice. Pros: Interior layout, Nice Power (3.5 eng), oil filter location on engine (DYI people). Nav/DVD combo is nice. Cons: Lack of airflow for 2nd row seating, could use a little more storage access upfront.

Love It
I've had my 2011 Kia Sorento for almost a year, having put nearly 16K miles on it, mostly from my daily commute to work. I absolutely love this vehicle, and would recommend it to EVERYONE. I originally started out looking at Chevrolet Equinox's, but the comparably priced models didn't hold a candle to the features of the Kia Sorento. The performance is snail-like, but I knew that going in because I bought one with a 4-cylinder on purpose. It's not a speed car, but I get about 24 MPG in the summertime. That dips to about 19-21 in the winter due to cold starts and road conditions. I live in Wisconsin, so the AWD has come in handy more than once. Mine also has the optional third-row seating. I didn't need this because my fiance and I don't have children, but it did come in handy when my parents and little sisters needed a last-minute ride. So, it can be worth it. The interior features are awesome. I don't have leather or anything fancy. The only non-standard features are the third-row seats and the read camera. The rear camera I would say is almost a must in this vehicle. It has a small view throw the rear windshield, and big blind spots. Also, the tinted windows make it impossible to see out the back at night. So, the camera (which is clear as day at night) was definitely worth the extra money. The backup proximity sensor is a big plus, too. Overall, if you're gonna buy an SUV, I would definitely recommend the Sorento for the average buyer, but don't get the 4-cylinder if you want to haul anything. I haven't had any problems with it yet in almost 10 months of ownership. If gas prices weren't so high, I would be giddy to buy another. Instead, we're looking at a Kia Forte to fill a more economical role in our budget.
