Until test driving the new KIA Sorento...

Do not buy anything until at least test driving a new 2011/12 KIA Sorento! We bought a new SX...and we love the fact that it beats virtually everything it it's class in leg room, shoulder room, head room, horsepower, fuel mileage, looks, warranty, quality, all the extra goodies it comes with, all the cool options that load it to near luxury levels...and it's Made in the USA! Amazing value. The icing on the Cake is the 100,000 mile 10 year powertrain warranty. Don't think I'll ever need it...we have 7500 miles completely without any faults so far!

Couldn't be happier!

Yes, there is a bit of road noise & no it's not the tires. I selected the base model, and could not beleive all of the "perks" that came with it. The gas mileage is incredible, and it handles beautifully. The four cylindar is suprisingly peppy, and it handles extremely well. The safety features are excellent, and it is a terrific all around family (or single) SUV.

very good value for the money

This is the second kia I've owned, but the first sorento. I have enjoyed the handling and performance. My only complaint is the road noise, I believe they could improve on that.

Sorento vrs. Equinox

Looked at both and drove both vehicles. The Equinox was better built, but had the same features as the Sorento. Plus, the Sorento added a 3rd row seat which makes it a real 7 passenger car for the same cost as the Equinox. Gas mileage is as listed. Only complaint is that it is noisy traveling over even small bumps and needs better dampening. Otherwise, this is the crossover car to beat in the under $25,000 price range.

Got Gas? Will Gulp.

After much research, we selected the Sorento EX AWD 6 cyl automatic. Since this is essentially the spouse's ride, she made the final decision. There's much to like about the car, but has a couple serious drawbacks. If economy is important to you, then avoid the 6-cyl. Mileage is quite poor -- around 16-17 in city, perhaps 19 with a mix of hwy, and 22-24 all hwy driving. And this is very careful driving, as well. The ride is very stiff. You will feel all the little bumps in the road. Back seat passengers may find the ride just plain harsh. It does handle quite well, has plenty of power (at a price), and has all the bells and whistles you would want. The service at the dealer has been flawless. If we were to do over, would consider -- and probably select -- a 4 cyl or a different brand.

sorento comfort??

I purchases a SX model with sunroof in Nov.'10. It has a sporty ride and is quick. One month after we bought the vehicle the alternator had to be replaced. Things happen. Since then, now 11k miles no problems. Sometimes when cold the transmission is jerky from a start. Once warm it's fine and very responsive. My wife liked the car, that's why we bought it. Front leg room is just adequate for me (6'). With the front seats back all the way, it leaves you with very tight foot and leg room for another 6 footer in the second row. The front seat cushon could use more lenght and width as far as I'm concerned(260lbs). The third row seats are about as good as you'll find in any mid size SUV. The recline lattitude of the second row seats is a good feature. It handles good although the road imperfections feedback are harsh for a vehicle built on a car chassis. Drop down in trim level until you don't have to get the nav. system. Not worth it. Actually I don't think it's worth it in any vehicle. Get a nice Garmine instead. My advice to anyone looking at a Sorento would be to get the lowest trim level 6 cyl and save yourself 6g as opposed to the SX.

2011 Kia Sorento SX AWD, tow package

Excellent cross-over. Good ride, decent mpg, excellent acceleration. It would be nice to have a dc power supply in the center armrest (there are two in the dashboard) and one in the rear. Overall, great car

Fantastic

Fantastic Car..... I would recommend the V6 SX version. The bluetooth works perfectly, the car drives smooth and the V6 engine responds quickly. The 3rd row is comfortable. I have nothing bad to say about this car.

great value

We've owned our 2011 EX for a month now and couldn't be happier. No buyers remorse at all. We searched a compared for several months looking at everything in this price range and decided the Kia was the best of the group. The warrenty put it over the edge. The vehicle performs exactly as we expected. The four cylinder has provided 24 mpg overall on the first few tanks of gas. This what we expected and is equal to everything else we saw. The four cylinder is perfect for around town but tends to downshift when pulling slight inclines on the highway. The V6 would probably be best for highway driving. Overall I would rate this as the best car I've ever owned.

Love this car

I have had my SX(AWD) now for 4 months and simply love it. Traded a 2006 Lexus GX470 SUV which I really loved. But wanted some thing a bit smaller and easier on gas. So I drove the Lexus RX, Toyota Highlander and Rav4, Cadillac SX, Volvo 6SX and the Sorento EX and SX all several times. Kept going back to the Sorento SX. For the money it is very comfy and very quick and responsive, which I really like in my cars. Even after reading some of the negative reviews I decided to trust Kia and go for it, even though I have been a Toyota man for my last 4 cars. I so far I am really glad I did. Thanks Kia.
