Kia _ Sorento 2011
Great car with good features. Value for money. Had Hyundai Santa Fe before. Better features than Santa Fe. Got options such as rear view camera which is of great help.

pulling power
I purchased the 4 cylinder base model with the convenience package. The backup camera is handy for backing up to a trailer. I have driven V-8s forever but looking for the gas mileage now. I pull a utility trailer for work, but thought I would see how it pulled my 4000 lb. boat?? The engine didn't even strain pulling it out of the water and up the ramp. The manual does say not to pull anything for a 1200 mile break in period, but the 4 cylinder 2.4L will pull a 1650 lb. trailer all day long in any condition! I love the way it drives!

affordable and loaded
Just got a 2011 Sorento last month. It looks very sharp, like an Audi or a VW SUV. This is a big draw -- the old Sorentos look a little dated, but the 2011 is very contemporary. We got it in white sand beige (which is a little confusing), and it looks great. It isn't elderly driver champagne, it's pretty stylish. As for features, the gas mileage has been good so far, if slightly less than advertised - about 23 mpg highway, and 20 mpg city driving. I'm optimistic that will improve as we break in the engine. The bluetooth hook up, and the ipod connection, are both neat features. One big bonus is the back up camera, which I've become completely dependent upon even though we've only used it for about a month. There's also a back-up sensor system, which beeps as you get close to objects behind you. For city parking and street parking, this is pretty fantastic. I thought it would be annoying, but it really serves a purpose. We got the 50/50 third row seat, and it is a great add-on as well. The beauty of it is that it folds perfectly flat. Most of the time we use that space for storage, like a typical 5 seater SUV. However, being able to put a couple extra people in the car for little trips is a big plus. The interior looks great. We went with no leather, but the seats are still quite nice, and comfortable. They are longer than some of the other SUVs we test drove, in both the front and back seats. I don't find any cramping issues at all in the second row. The third row is snug, though, without a doubt. The dash is clean and sharp looking, in keeping with the rest of the car. The drive has been smooth so far. We went with the 4 liter engine, and it isn't overwhelming, but it hasn't struggled at all. We're definitely happy with it, as it cost significantly less than the V6 and it offers slightly better gas mileage. Turning radius is small, and handling has been sharp. We got the all wheel drive, but haven't had cause to use it yet. Overall this has been a great purchase. The combination of affordability, features (like that 3rd row seating, back up camera, and AWD), and appearance make the 2011 Sorento a fantastic buy. We looked around extensively, and couldn't find a similarly-priced SUV that offered the same touches. I feel like buying a Sorento now is like getting in to a good investment opportunity on the ground floor. Kia is becoming a more widely accepted brand, and for good reason. They're making big strides to narrow the impression gap between themselves and sister-brand Hyundai, Toyota, and Honda. We were surprised to find ourselves going with a Kia, but we're very happy we did.

Fun to Drive
We have had this car for 2 months and it is still fun to drive. I appreciate the safety features and the my cell phone is tied into the control on the steering wheel. The back up camera is helpful when I am in neighborhoods full of children. It helps to see the low blind spots. The interior is not cheap looking and the seats are comfortable. Passengers have plenty of leg room, front and back. The AC cools passengers in back seat equally well. We haven't used the heated seats yet since we are now in May. The sunroof when opened all the way affects the the radio. You have to close the sunroof about an inch or two to avoid wind noise. This has been the only negative of this car.

Stop looking this is the best value!
I love my new Sorento! I can believe the gas mileage in a SUV. I have had it for two months now and have not had a problem with it. Love my two tone leather. And when I am driving down the road I can see people checking it out! One day I was driving and I read someones lips and they said, "thats a Kia?" So far great luck! To all of you who were not so sure about a Kia. I checked one out and do not regret it at all!

never deal with Kia
I am so mad at kia, I have to rant. I am so mad that I paid almost $30000 for a V6 sorento to tow my boat and I can't use it. two dealers told me it can tow 3500 pounds, the brochure and website says it can tow 3500 lbs. I get the vehicle home buy a hitch and then I see in the owners manual that everything I was told was wrong. Kia advertises the 4 cylinder tows 2000 pounds, but the owners manual say not to tow with it. They advertise the v6 tows 3500 pounds but the owners manual say it tows 2000 pounds. After dealing with Kia on this issue I will never deal with them again. Sorry about the rant review but I have to get it out.

One of the nicest I have owned
I have had my 2011 AWD EX V6 Sorento for over a month and i still remain very impressed. I am a car/driving enthusiast and I tend to pay close attention to details about a car. It's difficult to find anything to criticize about the Sorento. I had the windows tinted recently and the technician who did the work could not stop talking about how impressed he was with the car. He noticed the fit and finish, and little details like heat blocking material in the sun shade for the moon-roof. The Sorento is full of little touches like that. A couple of things that could be better are handling and brakes. Both are bit soft for my taste but substantially better than other similar cuv's I have driven, and certainly adequate. The gas mileage is lower than expected but then, it is a V6 with AWD and my driving habits are not eco friendly.

Bang for Buck...and then some
I recently began a three year lease with the 2011 Kia Sorento. I received an EX, 4 cylinder, FWD, with premium package and third row. It is white on the outside with beige leather on the inside. Although it has only been a few days, I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase. Let us start from the outside and work our way in. The look of the Sorento is amazing. Although it is only slightly larger in dimensions than its competitors, it appears much larger on the road than it actually is. In addition, it has an athletic stance that separates it from other similar vehicles like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota Rav4. As for color selection I feel the best colors are white, black, silver, and dark grey. I wish they had a creamier white, they have white sand beige which is too much on the beige side and thus looks odd. The white I purchased is very nice and the quality is top notch, but I wish it was more of a creamy white a la cadillac escalade. As for the interior, in my opinion, it hands down looks best with beige leather. The reason for this is that the dash, steering wheel, door trims, and floor mats are all dark colored. The contrast of the beige with the dark looks great. Black leather, although nice, feels too darth vader for my taste. If you opt for cloth, they are actually quite nice and comfortable. The perforated leather looks and feels very nice. I would say nicer than domestics/honda/toyota, however, noticeably inferior to lexus, mercedes, bmw etc. The leather seats are supportive, firm, and comfortable. I have not had a long enough drive to assess how it feels over a long distance. The lay out of the dash and instrument panel is intuitive, easy to read, and generally appealing. Though hard plastics were used for the dash rather than soft touch materials, it is comparative to its competitors and if kept clean does appear nice. The leather steering wheel oddly does not really feel much like leather. It is quite coarse. This may, however, in the long run be beneficial as it may deter hand prints and stains. The steering wheel has many functions that are separated nicely and easy to use. Now for my only real complaint about the vehicle. The base sound system is not anything at all to brag about. Although it offers 7 speakers, it just doesn't do music any justice. CDs get away with sounding alright, but the radio sounds dull and without oopmh. It does, however, have many neat functions such as bluetooth that allows me to stream pandora radio from my blackberry through the speakers. The sound quality of this was on par with the radio. The built in sirius radio controls worked very well. If you keep the volume low, it sounds fine, turning it up, however, will be a slightly disappointing. As for the goodies, bluetooth works flawlessly. Minutes to set up and I was answering calls and streaming music. Reverse camera is a neat toy. It is only a picture on the lef 1/3 of the rear view camera but is sufficient to see if anyone or thing is behind you, and for parking. Push button start is unnecessary luxury that is just fun. No need to jumble for keys, just walk up and open the door, put your foot on the brake and press the on button. The addition of premium sound with navi and a panoramic roof would result in essentialyl a nearly perfect vehicle. Finally, and most importantly, performance. I am rating my performance based on my expectations of the vehicle. It is a relatively heavy vehicle with a 1 74 hp I-4, I am not expecting it to get to 60 in 6 seconds, not 7 seconds, and not even 8. I needed a vehicle that when I merged onto the highway could get up to speed in a timely manner. The Sorento does this and it does not feel like I'm pushing the vehicle to its limits. Acceleration is smooth. It does, obviously, have the higher pitched engine sound that many I-4 engines have. Not an issue for me. Accelerating and changing lanes is not an issue as well. The Sorento, similar to luxury vehicles, has the ability to reach high speeds while feeling the vehicle is travelling significantly slower. Handling is smooth and carlike, however, it isn't numb and boring. Is it overtly "fun" to drive, not particularly, but combining the nice seat height, excellent views, and plethora of interior amenities, the experience is a pure pleasure.

Wow - VW/BMW styling with Korean price!
I have been researching crossovers and SUVs for about 2 months now. I currently own a 2004 Toy Highlander (not part of the recall) and prior to that a VW Toureg. I also drove a 2009 BMW 520i. This vehicle is every bit the quailty of the VW/BMW but without the expensive pricetag! The Toureg was nice but 1) it got 12 MPG 2) Oil changes were $120 and 3) interior was poorly designed not to mention it was $33K! This is vehicle (EXi), made in GEORGIA, is every bit as top quality as the VW & BMW but without the poor mileage and expensive maintenance. I'm averaging 27MPG city! The interior is very well designed, everything is super easy to use and the interior is very spacious. The push button start and the ability to open and start the car without having to touch the key is priceless - especially if you find yourself digging in your purse (or pocket) often for the keys. No more! You can just have the key on you (or in your purse) and it will open up for you and start with the push button. soooooo cooool! Let me tell you about the sunroofs.. you have 2 of them! one HUGE one in the front and another HUGE one in the back. If you are familiar with the BMW sunroofs, its just like those. :) Veerrry nice. Then there is the 5 Star crash rating to seal the deal! You have to atleast go look at and test drive one of these. You too will be amazed!
