Kia Soul 2013

It is like KIA said what vehicle would Jim, like to drive when he retires from business. The Kia Soul had a subliminal message. We made this for you & they were right. I have even named mine. I call her Vicky & take a lot of gallery comments from my wife & daughter. After driving GMC Sonomas & a Jimmy for 15 years I am enjoying the better gas mileage & having a vehicle I don't have to trash with commercial cleaning equipment. I will probably buy 1 more vehicle in my lifetime. It will be either a new Soul or a Cooper Estate wagon.

Do Not Buy if you Park Outside Year Round!

I bought my 2014 Soul in August of 2014. Have driven it roughly 12k miles since. Gas mileage has been great and it got me through a rather nasty winter in northeast PA with no issues even though it isn't AWD. Handles well in all weather conditions and offers a very comfortable ride. Have taken it on two long road trips south to Atlanta and Myrtle Beach and enjoyed well over 33mpg on the highway with it using the Eco drive. Storage room is adequate and I've been able to put the seats down and move some furniture when necessary and it carries my bike rack and two bikes on the back no problem. One issue is that the trunk space is not wide enough to accommodate a set of golf clubs, which is a big drawback for me. If we head out to play golf I normally have to drop one of the back seats down to fit the clubs in. The other major drawback to this vehicle is it is made with very cheap parts on the exterior and exterior. I bought my KIA because family friends have owned 3 and have not had any problems with them, but they park inside year round. We do not have a garage and despite using a cover in the winter and summer when it is parked for awhile, the car is showing signs of wear and fading that should not be happening this fast in a brand new car. The back bumper looks awful and is badly faded to where it looks like it is grey instead of black. I've had to buy some touch up color restoration gel just to get it remotely close to what it used to look like. Also the interior dash is fading very quickly and even has a part of it cracking near the shift stick. Very very disappointing to see that this is how a brand new car is less than a year into driving it. A really bad rattle developed in the dash as well and the dealership can't seem to figure it out, something is just loose with the way the dash was built. Car also has a lot of road noise issues. While this is a solid little car, albeit a bit overpriced for how cheaply it is built, I just cannot suggest this to anyone who does not have a garage and has to park outside year round or outside in bad weather conditions. We are already looking to trade it in, but have found another problem, the value on KIAs plummets the moment you drive them off the lot and the Soul isn't worth a fraction of what you paid for it even relatively new. Learned a lesson on this one and will probably not buy another KIA just for that fact alone. They make good cars, but their reputation in the eyes of resale value is not good so you will get screwed on a trade in.

Hidden defect

There is no spare tire, a fact you won't discover until you need one. Go over a pothole and bend your rim and have a tire that cannot be re-inflated. You also have no spare. In 68 years of driving I've never need a seatbelt or airbag (fortunately) but have used my spare tire between 5 and 10 times. I don't suggest omitting the safety features but not leaving me stranded on a country road with a flat tire is also a safety feature

LOVE MY SOUL!

I bought my brand new 2014 soul base in October. I researched this car heavily and knew exactly what I was getting into. I find the car to have good gas mileage and it feels sturdy and high quality for a cheaper vehicle. I love the boxy look to this car. This car also kept me safe driving the back roads of Maine during the worst winter in 50 years, with studded snow tires. A word of warning, I bought the roof rack and it whistles, very annoying but I'm use to it now. For me the biggest con is the tiny trunk space as well as it does not come with a spare tire. The warranty for this car is excellent if you purchase brand new. What really amazes me with this car is the high safety rating it has, it comes with baby seat anchors which is important as we are planning on starting a family soon. I think what you get for the price on this car is a great value.

Love my Kia Soul

I have a 2014 Kia Soul +. I have only owned it gor one month but am very pleased so far. It rides nice for a compact and has plenty of get up and go. The interior is also very comfortable and attractive. No mechanical or other issues so far.

Dangerous

My KIA Soul hesitates when accelerated from STOP, to go into traffic, or making a left turn into oncoming traffic. I returned it a month ago to the KIA Dealership in Ann Arbor, Mich., but they said they couldn't find a problem. I'm afraid to drive it, so I'm taking it back to the dealer and parking it.

I LOVE my new Kia Soul 2014

I never knew when I walked into our local Kia dealership that I was actually going to get a new car. I was still just looking and comparing different makes of cars. I worked with a great associate. I had a budget and he showed me what I could get for my money. He was polite, respectful and genuine as he gave answers to my questions. I especially appreciated how he pointed out features and explained how the 2014 Kia Soul would be a good fit for me. I would give 6 stars, if I could! :) I am totally satisfied with my Kia Soul.

Very practical and solid car!

I love my 2013 Kia Soul. It has plenty of room in the back seat, looks bigger on inside, very comfortable and i love the fact that it sits slightly higher than a car, feels like a small SUV. I only wish it came with a spare tire, I don't like the fact that it doesn't, otherwise it is a good car and cute to look at. Doesn't take up much space in parking lots, shorter than the average car and its not noisy or drafty whatsoever. It starts right up on 0 degree days, sitting out all night. The price is right and affordable! Would not hesitate to recommend this car to anyone whose looking for a small, solid, well designed car and reliable.

Hip luxery car - 2014! 2.0 engine

OK power, 8.1 sec 0-60 is sufficient for me. Super comfortable seat, power seats offer great support and positioning for driver. Quiet for it's class and ride not harsh but can be busy on rough roads. Smoother than small SUV (toy rav4 & hon crv were harsh). Great visibility and the infotainment system is excellent. No MartinLogan speakers but the sound is great for a vehicle, and lots of storage for tunes on the head unit. Interior quality so much better than top of the line Japanese car I had. So far over 1 year, not xxxxxxwith lots of hard driving in freezing cold and 100+ temps. I found it more comfortable and better quality than the countryman I tested and Soul was notably faster getting on freeway. Brakes are good, can make smooth stops if careful. Space is great with rear seats down. The car feels so much bigger inside than it is, does not feel like a small car. Feels like a small SUV that handles so much better. very litter body lean around turns. The ventilated seats are fab in summer and love them heated in winter and heated steering wheel. Head lights very bright despite the fast drop off. Auto dimming mirror effective. Did scare me once when I applied lots of acceleration getting on the freeway as he just took off! The engine never sounded like it was under strain but I immediately took my foot off the gas as I was at 70 in just a couple of seconds. I do drive it in eco mode but in regular mode it feels much zippier. Been pleased...would get another one in a heartbeat. Passengers impresses with how much better it is than their vehicles. Yup, blows away the Japanese competition...and I loved my other imports. Hip but not prestigious...but the prestige may change when more people get in and see the quality. Even a leading mag called the cheap mid trim one a luxury car. Get in, sit down and enjoy the hip cool Soul!!!
