2014 Kia Soul 5 Door Hatchback Wagon (Review)
There is no doubt about it; the Kia Soul is a popular choice this year among consumers desiring a roomy, fun to drive, and stylish vehicle that is truly like no other with a spacious and comfortable interior, technologically advanced features, with a fun and unique box-like design that is appealing to people of all ages. It is the perfect combination of a crossover SUV, hatchback, and wagon all in one stylish and affordable package. The Soul is one of Kia's most popular vehicles and it is easy to see why with its unique style, spunky on-the-road performance, advanced technology, and great fuel economy. With a similar exterior ?boxy? design to the Scion xB and Nissan Cube, the Kia Soul offers more room than a traditional sedan and better maneuverability than a large SUV. It stands out from its competition by delivering a certain youthful flair with an optional Infinity sound system with illuminated trim rings around the door?s speakers that change colors to the beat of the music that is being played. The 2014 model has been redesigned and is now better than ever with changes that are subtle, not major, yet much appreciated. It is available in three trim levels: base, + and ! (Better known as Plus and Exclaim) The FWD 2014 Kia Soul (base) comes fitted with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower, 118 lb. ft. of torque, a 6-speed manual transmission, and standard features, such as- a tilt/telescopic steering wheel,15-inch steel wheels, dark tinted rear privacy glass, dome light, black cloth seats, illuminated glove box, CD, MP3, Sirius XM Satellite Sound System with 4 speakers, USB port, Bluetooth, auxiliary audio input jack, cruise control, power windows/door locks, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, trip computer, dual front cup holders, a height-adjustable driver?s seat, remote keyless entry, and air conditioning. A 6-speed automatic transmission is optional. The base model (manual or automatic) yields an estimated 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Standard safety features include six airbags, antilock brakes, front-seat side airbags, stability control, traction control, hill-start assist side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints. The Kia Soul has a unique style that is not easy to define, because it kind of looks like a cross between a station wagon, SUV, and a hatchback, but its distinctive box shape makes for a very spacious and roomy interior with plenty of head/legroom for taller occupants in the front and rear cabin seating areas. The vehicle looks and feels bigger than a sedan, but it is much easier to maneuver in tighter spaces and looks more upscale than any other ?box? shaped cars that I have seen and tested. The floating roof design and vertical backlights also add to the vehicle?s appeal. The Soul?s front grille is not too aggressive and adds a lot of character to the exterior design. Interior features are quite impressive with advanced technology and easy to reach/operate gauges and controls. There is plenty of head/legroom for taller passengers in the front and rear cabin, which makes the Soul a great choice for longer commutes. When the both of the rear seats are folded down, there is approximately 61 cubic feet of cargo space, which is greater than the Nissan Cube. On the road, the Soul performs great. Even though the Soul does not feel sporty, the vehicle handles a variety of road conditions very well with a solid on the road feel, accurate braking, and precise steering. It is easy to get in and out of the Soul and it is a great commuter vehicle, suitable for daily commutes and handles extremely well in heavy traffic. In fact, the Soul accelerates quickly for its class and is quite spry on the road, which is ideal for driving through heavily populated cities, such as in Los Angeles. This is where the Kia Soul really shines with its ability to zip through traffic and handle stop and go situations with ease. On rougher surfaces, however, the vehicle?s suspension offers a bumpier ride. The 2014 Kia Soul is a great commuter car with a fun style, solid on the road performance, advanced technology, and is affordable. Really, what is there not to love about the Soul?

GREAT car!!
I've never owned a Kia before; so I was quite hesitant in buying one. The sales people were friendly (of course they wanted to make a sell),and they took time to explain all the fancy things this one does. I am soooo happy with my purchase!! I could be a Kia spokesperson!! The car has lots of pep and great handling. The visibility is terrific, and I hope to save money with the good gas mileage.

2014 Kia Soul
Check out this new dealership in Avon - Champion Kia of Avon. I have never been around a group of people that worked as hard at pleasing the customers as this team does. I love my Kia and look forward to keeping this car as long as I did my last one!

Love this car!
I purchased my 2014 Kia Soul at the Ricart Mega Mall in Columbus Ohio. I have go say that this was a great purchase and the best choice of dealers I have ever made. From the time I visited the dealer they were kind, courteous and not pushy. Darrell my sales rep was amazing and I am glad to have met him. He let me decide to buy without all the crazy sales tactics. I ran into him at the store and he spoke and remembered my name. That's pretty good service! The car gives me all that I want and need, plus more. I bought because I drive back and forth from Cincinnati to Columbus daily and I enjoy the ride now. I never thought I would be a kia owner but I am a kia owner now for life.

Not one person who has ever stepped into my car has said anything negative. I have a lot of tall people in my life. They love the head room.

I love my car!
Bought a 2014 Kia Soul Plus about a month ago. I absolutely love my car! I really like the hands free phone controls, although I try not to use my phone too much while driving. Feels very roomy and I am always amazed at how many groceries will fit in back. I love to storage compartment for storing dishes I am taking to other 's houses. Only complaint would be visibility around back pillars. They are thick. Mirrors help, and I am fairly cautious of this anyway, as I am older and neck mobility is less due to surgery. Car is fun and I love the yellow color. Easy to find in a parking lot! Glad I moved up to the slightly larger motor, although I didn't feel a big difference test driving each. Have not had any problems in the short time I have owned it.

I would choose differently if given the chance
Bought my car from Moritz Kia. I put 800 miles on it before it broke down and needed to be towed. Engine misfires that are unexplained. They initially tried to say I put too much gas in the car. Blamed it on a faulty gas station pump after I convinced them I know how to properly fill my car with gas. I've been driving for 25 years and have never failed to properly fill up my tank. Moritz dropped off a loaner car for me. The car was filthy and smelled of smoke so bad that I had to change my clothes when I got home. I got my car back and it broke down the very next day. I have owned this car for 4 weeks and it has been in the shop for 1 week and counting. Car is being serviced at Central Kia. They seem much more sympathetic to my problem. Moritz wanted their loaner back and they refused to pick it up. I had to drop it off. Somehow my car breaking down was an inconvenience to the dealer and was solely my problem. I think they wanted me to apologize for my car needing service. I would NEVER buy a car from Moritz again!

I am happy that I bought the Soul!!!
I purchased my 2014 Kia Soul from Camelback Kia in Phoenix. Before this purchase, I was weighing my options of the Soul, Toyota Tundra and a Ford Escape! I own an Escape now, and liked what some of the new features that the new model Escape had, but not the price tag!!! I am happy to say that I purchased the Soul and OMG what a ride! Another thing, I was looking for a used model, but with Kia's incentives, I ended up buying the brand new version! First off, I purchased the base model, and it has features that you would have to pay for in other vehicles. The bluetooth system is awesome! And the hands free phone feature, I am just loving. It's a fun, sporty little thing to drive. A+++++

Nice Car for Less
I love the space and roomy feel, the headrests could use less stiffness and more comfort. I like the style of the interior and exterior as well, very modern. My only problem has to be with the blindspots of the car. Very difficult to see and maneuver on the road. Overall, I recommend it to city drivers.

Very pleased
After shopping locally for three weeks, I purchased the Base model with a 6-speed standard transmission yesterday. I've only had the car for a day, but already I am very pleased with it. The car is tight, maneuverability is great, turning radius is very short (17'), plenty of power. It will take me a while to learn all the features. My SmartPhone was easily paired with the Bluetooth; Sat. radio works wonderfully. Shifting is smooth. Looking forward to my first 2,500-mile road trip in a month.
