Very reliable and we’ll maintained

This car was a great all around car it never had any major replacement except for timing belt, the only reason I’m selling the mpg I need something to commute with for school

Perfect beginner enthusiast car.

If you want something that has a little bit of pep, looks good, doesn’t break. This is the car for you. Low maintenance and the parts aren’t to expensive and they are easy to find. Running strong at 168,000 miles and I wouldn’t think twice about driving it across the country right now. Only complaint is some wind noise and the back seats don’t fold down. It has an amazing quiet but nice engine rumble when getting on the gas. Not to amazing on gas but not terrible either. The Manuel mode works great still no issues and the sound system sounds amazing still and holds up to newer vehicles. The car itself looks like it was made in 2007 or 8, I’d have to give that to the high quality paint and the nailed the design on the front of the car, the rear could use some work though. Overall my favorite car I’ve owned.

Best car I've ever owned.

EXTREMELY reliable for what you get. A very good competitor of the BMW 3 Series. Toyota did a great job with this car. Powerful enough, has a nice torque, interior is pretty good compared to the BMW and it sounds and looks beautiful.

You want a fun, reliable, commuter? Get one

If you enjoy driving a sports car, but like having a cozy drive and a less-strained back, this is the car for you. My 2001 IS300 has 272,000 and has been maintained it’s whole life. It still rides just as nicely as I imagine it would when it was new. The interior and gauges make you feel like you are driving something special. There is a certain level of class but angst that this car radiates. My buddy put it best. He said, “You want a Civic Si, but don’t want to own a Civic Si? Then you need an IS300.” It’s rear drive and has a sport mode that enables you to have a bit of fun (safely and responsibly of course..) And despite the fact that Lexus badged it and sold it here (in the states) don’t let it distract you from the racing pedigree that Toyota put all over this car. It has a Toyota Supra engine in it for Christ sake!

2001 IS 300 is a very reliable automobile!

I am the original owner of a 2001 IS300 Lexus. I currently have 270000 miles and I see the car running to at least 400 k easily, it's that strong. My alternator went out at 250,000 miles and my fuel pump went out at 260,000. These engines and transmissions are amazing but everything around it may need attention as mentioned above. You may end up spending up to $3,000 to replace the things around the motor but I think it's worth it considering the cost of a new vehicle these days. I truly believe this is one of the most reliable cars ever built. This Car has never broken down and it's just kept me going and going. And yes it was built in Japan!

Love of my Driving Life

After 17 years, but only 171000 km, *107,000 mi), this car didn't owe me anything. It was well built, performed as expected, and easy to maintain. It would have been better to replace it before the timing belt and water pump were changed (at 160,000 km). Now the trade-in value didn't cover those expenses.

Holding onto my 2001 IS 300

I was on the wait list to buy this car in 2000, waiting for it to arrive from Japan. I?ve been driving this car since. Going on 18 years. The car zips up steep hills and handles so well at high speed. I love it! It?s the right size. I get teased a lot for bringing my IS 300 to the dealership for maintenance, and told to sell it since it?s old. I get approached by people all the time, including parking attendants and car mechanics at different Lexus dealerships, asking is my car for sale. The car is pretty no doubt and has a big sports car engine. I?ve been repeatedly told by car mechanics that don?t make cars like this anymore. Most of the mechanics at one dealership own this model. So no, it?s not for sale. It has over a quarter million miles and I intend to keep driving it until it won?t run anymore. I hope to hit 400,000 miles, breaking another driver?s record. As one guy tweeted to me on Twitter, his IS 300 was more reliable than the two wives he had. It was also a good value. Even though I paid $37,500 out the door in 2000, I got 18 years of use. If I have to pay $2000 for a 30k maintenance or $1000 to $2000 every yr to replace some of the parts, it?s still cheaper than buying a new car that might not be as reliable and have the same performance.

Great First Car.

This car is the first vehicle I ever owned. It's great as a starter car for teens and young adults. Would recommend it to anyone whos looking for something reliable and practical for a first car. It's great on gas so it's perfect for commuting college students.
