Best car i have ever owned!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The overall review on this car is Great in my eyes. I drove this car back in 2001 until 2010. i put over 100,000 miles on this car and never had any issues besides minor battery/ belt replacements. I think Toyota did a great job on building a great little car.

my 2001 IS300

I bought a black IS300 new off the lot in 2001, had a family member that was sales manager there and he was able to get us a nice discount (considering my mother also bought 1 the same day) I was 19 at the time almost 20...I still own the car today 16 years later and only have 128k on the car or (8k a year put on car). This car has never given me any major problems. I have had coilpacks go out usually only 1 or 2 coils when I happened a few times over the years, and did have to replace my catalytic converter it was getting red hot from the heads to the exhaust. Otherwise just basic maintenance oil changes, fluids, had to recharge a/c (free from my buddy who owns a shop) would have been a few hundred, tune ups will run you close to if not 2,000$ which is a lot and put it off as long as possible haha.....then when it comes time to changing the timing belt that's another 1000$, tires are gonna cost you around 400$ to 500$ for Toyo Proxies, Continental etc..Now for a set of Bridgestone Potenza's will put you back around 2800$ and last 10k miles if you're lucky (I know this because the car came new with Bridgestone Potenza;s and they are race tires, extremely soft, they grip and ride amazing....but I believe they lasted around 8500mi till they were showing wire. If I was rich and I didn't mind buying a set of tires up to twice a year at basically over 6k$ after you buy 8 tires with taxes, have them balanced and put on. I paid around 33k$ for an IS300 2001 new off the lot, and in 2001 Toyota didn't offer the is300 in a manual only automatic with triptonic paddle shifters and hand shift. I just couldn't wait,i wish I had because the 5spd now command almost 4x more money...its crazy you can get these cars for 3k$ in perfect shape with over 100k miles.

Hands down, the best car I've ever owned.

I've owned my Lexus for 3 years this month and I've never been happier with a car in my whole life. The funny thing is, I went shopping for a Jeep and the dealership couldn't find the keys for the Jeep I wanted, so I test drove the Lexus to kill time while they were looking. By the time I got back from my extensive test drive, two things had happened: 1. They found the keys 2. I no longer cared This car is sporty and fun, quiet and surprisingly roomy for the size of the car. One thing I will say is that it's wider than it seems at first, so that takes some getting used to. I've only had to do routine maintenance on this car and have never had a problem with it. It does take premium ONLY. If at some point you forget and put regular in, you will know it. The only improvement I would make to this car would be front wheel drive rather than rear wheel. Seriously, what it boils down to is this simple statement: Best. Car. Ever. I'm afraid to get a new car now, because I've been spoiled by this one.

Great car and great service!

My wife, who takes weeks to make even the smaller decisions, fell in love with this car as soon as she saw it and we bought it the next day. It has served us well, and after 11 years we're looking to move into something bigger. I love driving it as well, because it's sporty and so small that you can fit in pretty much any parking spot. Perhaps the best part of driving a Lexus is the service we get at our local dealership. It costs about the same as the independent service chains, but we get a loaner, get the car detailed, and they have a stellar waiting room. Plus the service people are great. You can tell they enjoy their jobs, which bodes well for the service they're doing on your vehicle as well. Looking forward to owning another Lexus!

Arguably the best Lexus ever!

I did tons of research before purchasing this car. It was compared to Acuras, Hondas, Fords, Mazdas, Volvos, etc. I did not find another vehicle that offers reliability, performance, exterior and interior styling that surpasses the Lexus IS. I have to say after owning this car for a few months that it still impresses me every day. My only complaint is the somewhat poor gas mileage combined with required premium fuel. However, I would much rather spend a little extra on fuel and have a car that I enjoy to drive!
