2000 Lexus RX 300 consumer reviews

Ok, I bought this a couple of years ago for 3,800 dollars and thought that I was getting a really good deal. I bought it with 188,000 miles but had just met someone that had an rx model not sure if 300 or 350 but had 330000 miles and was still running strong. I will Say that it is a nice smooth ride but thé transmission for thé RX 300 was made for thé camry which was a lot lighter and my tranny went at 195000 that was 3,250 dollars to fix, it happened while driving across the country and thén realized later that it had an oil seal leak not thé cars fault but thé mechanic but was a thousand miles away when i realized it so do not buy if on original transmission. Thèse vehicles have knock sensor problèms. Make sure that you get OEM knock sensor from thé Lexus dealer(100 bucks each cheaper) to buy online, i just bought thé generic Brand that should have fit first so I had to pay for thé labor twice. Had thé timing best and water pump done at same Time and had to get knew brakes. I bought it for 3800 but now have almost 10, 000 dollars in it. If u buy one Make sure that it is not on original transmission or buy a RX 350 which i believe has a stronger tranny. It is a nice car but i do not recommand buying one and wish i did not.

Worse car I ever owned! I bought this car because Lexus/ Toyota is supposed to be reliable and low maintenance, but this car has been everything but that. The first 2 weeks I owned it, it was in the shop. The knock sensors went bad which put the vehicle into limp mode, so it didn't shift into overdrive and was revving 5k RPMs on the highway. Cost $1300 to fix both knock sensors and the wiring harness. After getting that fixed, the check engine light was still on, so back at the shop again. This time it was exhaust pipe, cost another $600. Then it was good for a day, then the check engine light came on AGAIN, this time it was the O2 sensor. Cost another $200 to fix it. Was good for a day or two, now the check engine light came on AGAIN! Sounds like one of the belts in the engine is squealing really bad. Could be the timing belt going bad? If so that would be another $1000. Also a bad rattling / clunking sound coming from the back. Sounds like the car is falling apart as I'm driving down the road! Also tires could be replaced. I purchased it for $4k and so far have $2k paid in repairs, and might have another $2k in more repairs / timing belt & tires. So I could end up having $8k into this vehicle which is over 20 years old, and I haven't even owned it for a full month! More downsides - it gets terrible gas mileage for a vehicle of its size - I only average about 20 mpg. Also the sound system is the worse sound system of any vehicle I've owned, I can hardly get radio signal. The only good thing about this car is it is comfortable and rides smooth.

Just got this baby, I was have Benz ML 430, it is total different between two car, this one is very good for city driving, I am luck to have it, hope you can enjoy it

Bought it 3 months ago with 210000 miles. It has the wow factor. Check engine light was on, rough idle, smelled gas and wouldn't go into overdrive. Fixed issue, it had a bad oil pressure valve, cost 350 to fix. Now it's perfect, I mean perfect. Rides and drived like new. I had to replace front brake pads and roters and 2 front tires. Fixed interior with two bottom seat cover, new floor mats, steering wheel cover and arm rest covers. I love this car. I paid 1500 for car and only have 3000 in it total after repairs. Engine and trans are solid. I cannot believe how nice it is. Everything works like new. No rust. Looks fantastic. Nakamichi sound system is amazing. Incredible car. Smoothest ride I ever had. Friends can't believe my good fortune. Loaded with 6 disc changer, AWD, food racks, towing package, leather, sunroof. No leaks. Looks great inside and out. What a buy!

Golden! I bought it off a friend sitting at 200 something thousand miles. Pushing 248,000 and doing great. I mean really a great vehicle. Small SUV great for single people or even small families. Look at the date i losted this review... yeh she old but riding stronger everyday.

Extremely comfortable ride. Runs strong with great pick up. Replacement parts are excellent priced making more cash flow to enjoy driving. Amazing a 21 year old vehicle with no rust.

I thought this was the perfect for cost,looks, and reliability. My daughter which is 21 also fell in love with this vehicle and she's picky!!:)

Very roomy, great reliable SUV. Lexus is a luxury brand for Toyota, It Comes with a standard premium sound system and leather interior. overall very good strong SUV

I wanted to get a little sports car for myself, but my wife made me buy the RX300 SUV. I wasn't thrilled with it, but it slowly grew on me. Now I really love this vehicle! It has all the bells and whistles and is a joy to drive. The dashboard is so well thought out. I've been driving it since 2008 and it's closing in on 200k miles. I'm going to drive it until it falls apart or until I fall apart. It has never let me down.

I bought it brand new in 2000 and still have it with over 200,000 miles on it. I never had any major problem with it
