The noisiest car I have ever owned

I purchased my 2018 Mazda CX-5 GS to replace a 2010 Nissan Rogue. As I already owned a Mazda 3, I thought it would be a good purchase. Overall I like the car but I hate the tires that Mazda has chosen. The car comes with what I am told is an all weather tire which is really a snow tire hybrid. Very, very noisy on the road as you would expect a snow tire to be. I am very disappointed in Mazda not being up front and informing potential buyers as to exactly what type of tire is being supplied with their new vehicle. These tires are so noisy that on a very uneven road, you cannot even hear the radio. When you try and drown out the road noise by turning the radio up, the road noise is amplified. If I had known that this particular tire was installed on my new Mazda CX-5 GS, I would not have bought this vehicle.

Still new to me

We have had a CX-9 for seven years and loved it. We needed a second car, but smaller, and decided to stick with Mazda based on the excellent experience, strong dealership and 0% financing. So far, it's a knockout. I don't by an SUV for styling, but I like this as well as any. In Mazda tradition, it is very fun to drive, but with a luxurious feel, too.

2018 Mazda CX5

Mazda vehicles drive and handle very well. I had a 2004 Mazda 3 for a couple years. No kidding, it felt better than some newer makes a tried. I sold it and upgraded to the 2018 CX5 Touring! It is great midsize SUV with many safety features. The interior design is top notch. GO TEST DRIVE ONE...NOW! :)

Good for technology drivers

I liked the size, height and handling of the CX-5. My only 'complaint' was that it has significantly less storage than previous vehicles, just the glove box and the center console. But the technology built in eliminated most things, like the GPS, the wired earbuds for hands-free, the cables and adapters for charging various devices.

Best car ever

Love this car! It?s fun and easy to drive, comfortable, and has all the bells and whistles for so much less than comparable luxury models. Gas mileage is great, which was a big selling point for me!

Biggest value in its class

The cx-5 has so many standard and optional features that completely blew me away at the price point. It drives and performs like a sporty sedan rather than SUV. Its simplicity and functionality are combined with very attractive design elements that make it comfortable and practical while still looking like a higher end vehicle. Absolutely the best value of any crossover small-midsized SUV out there.

Sensational New Car!

This 2018 CX-5 Grand Touring is my first brand-new car in 55 years' driving. I considered the available market very carefully, there are so many excellent options available, and it replaced both my cherished 2001 Forester 5-speed, which was like my puppy, and my Honda S2000, the perfect sports car for me, after a lifetime of ones to be cherished. So, the CX-5 needed to be fun to drive, comfortable, and with my advancing years, I was interested in some of the smart-intelligence safety aids. It has delivered so far, in spades. In spite of being an automatic transmission, the gearbox is responsive and features sport and manual shift modes. It'll take a while to learn, but this is something I can live with, and frankly, not having to continuously use the clutch and shift in Portland, Oregon's steadily decivilizing traffic is nice. Friends who have ridden in it, even only looked in it, have all raved. Who dreamed a fairly low priced compact SUV would look and feel so upscale? It has gotten 24+ mpg in town and 31.4 mpg on a road trip of 300 miles, that on a mix of freeway and winding country roads, also with traffic. Moreover, at the end of that 300 mile day which included working an event for several hours at the destination, I felt ready to drive on indefinitely. My only point of small worry about the Mazda is mastering the menus to control various functions. There is a very helpful set of video tutorials online, at the Mazda Toolbox, Mazda.com; I shall be squeezing as much as possible out of them. The owner's manual is thick and more than half of it appears to be "cautions" and safety warnings, most at the level of a third grade education. In contemporary America, that is probably appropriate, but who among us would wade through all that verbal lawyer mud? Moreover and importantly, how on earth are many buyers ever going to learn how to enjoy all its capabilities? Many simply will not, a pity. I keep cars a long time. This sporty feeling, comfortable, economic Mazda, with looks that will age very gracefully, may be all I need or want for the rest of my life. Note, I do not feel qualified at this early state to make a valid "reliability" rating, but the website requires it. From others' reviews, I do expect it to be excellent.

First time SUV owner

I like the way it handles, the way it rides and the overall feel of the road. It is also relatively quiet so you can hear your favorite tunes. What I don't understand is why there is no CD player. I know it's set up for MP3. But MP3, specially with a Bose audio system, has inferior sound quality when compared to a CD. Another old school idea Mazda should have kept is a radio with push buttons to access your favorite station (s). To have to fuss with a screen selection means eyes off the road. A lot can happen in a couple of seconds. Maybe I will get use to a compass and thermometer in the dash readouts but I certainly prefer the directions and temp that was always available at a glance on my HomeLink mirror on my old car. The safety monitors are excellent. The backup camera, the blind spot and lane departure monitors are a big help. I hope the seat belts continue to retract as easily as now when they are new. If you are looking for snappy performance, this is not the crossover to buy but for those of us who are not so peppy ourselves, it's more than adequate and the gas mileage is impressive. The seats are surprisingly comfortable you can easily adjust them to your preference. All and all I think Mazda is the best kept secret on the road today.

Fun to drive car! Love it!

My morning ride to work has become quite exciting after I got the 2018 CX5. Love the interior and exterior styling. I have the 2018 CX5 GT AWD with premium package (HUD and rear heated seats) The safety features on this trim are amazing. I like the Radar cruise control with stop and go. This is only offered on high end cars. It's amazing Mazda is offering it on CX5. The feel and ride are excellent. Could have provide more HP. But you really don't notice it that much. I listen to music alot and really prefer premium audio system. This model has the bose premium sound and it's definitely worth it. I like the HUD on this car. It gives you all the directions, speed limit and other details. Feels very elite. I am hoping they update the audio system with apple car play by end of 2018. I have noticed sometimes that the engine vibrates after I start the car and within the first 10-15 mins. Overall a great car. Fun to drive. Amazing features. Great value for money and feels luxurious.
