Love this car

This was my switch to an affordable fuel efficient fun hatch back. So far I have 28K miles and no problems. I agree with the 17" tyres being useless in the snow. So I bought snow tyres for this winter. Now I look forward to the snow. It has plenty of room and with the rear hatch can carry almost anything you want. Performance is pretty good, but now wished I had gone with the stick shift or even the 3 speed. Overall fuel consumption has been 27/28 MPG (75% freeway. Brake pedal is way to close to accerator pedal (i had to remove the rubber cover on the brake pedal). The only mechanical issue I've had is a knocking noise from the rear when going over sharp bumps (probably a shock mount). Its been there since new and hasn'r got worse. Zoom Zoom !

mazda 3, is number 1

I purchased a mazda 3i 2.0. prior to buying i test drove Corolla, civic, lancer. Mazda 3 is the best overall vehicle. The best combination of power, handling, smooth ride, interior and exterior. No other car offers all of this and mazda does it all at a LOWER PRICE!!!! The ride may be stiff for some but thats the price you pay for great handling and cornering. The brakes are excellent. Interior has great quality materials. Exterior design is attractive. Acceleration is good. Ive had the car for almost a year now and no problems at all.Great car, an even better value. ZOOM ZOOM!!!

Most Value for the Dollar

When searching for cars I looked at the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, VW Rabbit, and the Mazda 3. All the cars had good gas milage, great safety features, and fun sporty options. I found that the Mazda 3 had the best overall appeal(and was really inexpensive in comparison). The exterior/interior design is stylish and easy to navigate. The drive is smooth, quiet, and best of all solid. I get great gas milage too. The only thing I noticed is that it can get a little noisy if you accelerate hard. Other than that I have enjoyed my daily work commute in my sporty little car.

Excellent Sporty Car

I was looking for an economy and sport look car and i found it. It is great. I am only missing the Cruise Control. When I bout it in Santiago, Chile, Southamerica, I said to myself, after I buy it I will buy the cruise control kit and then installit in the official car dealer. Ohhh what a surprise to know that the kit is not available in Chile, hoppefully they will have it in the future. I even was willing to pay extra money for it, but couldnt be solved. In this quest I have known a lot of others that needs the same. Hoping this review helps....

Irritating to no end.

Every week I find a new reason to hate this car. This week is the fact that heating / cooling system continuously heats the air, even with the system is off. If outside the air is a comfortable 72 degrees, the air coming out of the vents will be 90! These numbers are not made up, they were measured. Having to run the AC even on cool days, adds to the already abysmally bad mileage this car gets. D.

I Picked The Right One This TIme!

After filing the Lemon Law on my last car, a Dodge Caliber, I was looking for the perfect small, reliable car. I also looked at Hondas and Toyotas, but they couldn't compare with the options, power, and feel of the Mazda3. When I first did a test drive, the salesman said to be careful of the zoom-zoom, which I thought was just a hokey promotion at first, but when I stepped on the gas, I knew what he meant! It took me a good week after I bought it to get used to the power! Plus, the outside is sporty, and the inside is awesome, esp compared to my last car! It looks and feels like you are driving a very expensive car. The mpg may not be as good as the others, but it is still very good, and i'd rather pay a little more than have a car with no power again! If you are considering other small cars, you have to test drive this one, and you will be sold!

Very Solid Small Car

Like many, I considered the Mazda3 along with the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. I immediately ruled out the Corolla due to the lack of a telescoping steering wheel. It was a close choice between the Civic and Mazda3. The Mazda3 has slightly more power then the Civic, and in every other sporty aspect wins. The handling is much better, it has better road grip, and better steering/brake feel. The gas mileage of the Civic is slightly better, but I average slightly over 30 mpg in 2.0 Mazda3(mostly suburban driving). Some other features I enjoy that the Mazda3 had but the Civic didn't are steering-wheel mounted audio controls and 60-40 folding seats. The only thing I liked about the Civic was the 5th gear and the speedometer. Both are pretty much equal in reliability.

Best small car made!!

I baught a 2008 mazda 3 in march, this is the best built car on the market. And cost less than the competors.I have the 2.0 and get 32.8 MPG average, 60/40 highway-city.I looked at honda and toyota, both are good cars , but over rated and over priced. After 3 months of intensive research the made in japan mazda 3 is by far the best. If you test drive one you will understand.

" A brand new headache."

I had the car home for only 2 days and it's at the dealership having warrenty work done. All Mazda 3-5door hb's look like there is a 500 pound man in the hatchback, but my Mazda 3-5door hb looks like there is an elephant in the hatchback. The dealership has had the car for 6 days to date, and i have been told by the service manager, more than once to be patient. Even Mazda reps have been brought in to solve the problem. They say they have tried everything with no solution. I've looked at Mazda 3's at dealerships in the area and on Mazda's website, and all of them look like there is a heavy load in the back. My car was only 2 days old and already in the service dept, it should not be there. I seriously feel that Mazda has a design flaw with the Mazda 3-5 door hb that needs to be addressed. Is that nice enough for ya. Other than that it's a good car for the money. Sincerely, Agriv8ted in North Carolina...

This car drives like a dream.

After driving our Mazda 3 '08 for three months now I enjoy the comfort, acceration, braking of this car. Several people have stopped me asking about my reactions to owing a Mazde 3. I believe it has the stlying and interior appearance of a much more expensive car. I have been pleased with the smooth, quiet ride it gives. I looked at the Honda Civic but the interior dimensions where another reason I choose Mazda over the Honda Civic. The interior dimensions from window to window were only 6 inches less than our Chrysler Concord. Buy one and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
