ok car 2.5SL

Good car but the transmission stutters at low speeds. The power is terrible in regular automatic but manual mode is manageable but nowhere near as good as the new optima. Interior is pretty good. No rattles but the new optima I had was better quality. The car is quiet. Stock tires are trash. Ride is refined and smooth. Not a drivers car the 3.6 engine probably is much better.

Love my Altima

I didn't have Nissan on my Radar - but when my cute lil Ford Focus was totalled I was given an Altima for a rental and while I was test driving a Hyundai Elantra I realized how much more I like my rental car! So I then and there decided to get an Altima. I bought a beautiful 2009 SL with Leather, Heated Seats, 6 CD Bose Stereo, MoonRoof with 34,000 miles for a price I can afford and even though I now have car payments, I have a great ride and with Nissan's dependablility. I even still has some warranty left on it !! Consumer Reports also rates it very highly. All in all I am very pleased with the Altima - it is a very nice ride and the 2.5 4 cylinder handles the GA hills just fine. This is my first Japanese car and I have to say I'm very pleased.

Competes with the Big Boys

First off I am a headroom junkie and used to rule out Nissan's cars outright. My son rode in one of these and we rented one next time we took a long trip. This is my secret to buying a new car every 10 years. Took a Camry,Accord, and Fusion for long rental rides. The Altima was the most competent in the most areas. The looks are special enough to find it at WalMart but not so radical as to get unusual looks like my 2005 Scion Xb commuter. When we went to the dealer he only had the base model in silver with a DVD navigation system but the price was right and my wife fell in love with the navigation system and became the principal driver. The ride is competent and smooth for a long haul and the handling compares with the better cars in its class. The tires were Continentals and I now know were the term Not Worth A Continental comes from. Replaced them with Cooper CS4's before 30000 miles (negotiate better tires with your dealer) Interior is spacious but womb like the attention to ergonomics shows in the heater and center storage console/ armrest. I reason I love this car the most is because I sleep like a rock on the passenger side seat , never been able to do that in any other car. Good comfortable Car

Very good value, in the second hand market.

After getting out of a lease with a 2003 Chrysler Sebring, I wanted to get something that was better. Out of two other cars that I was looking at (an '08 Honda Civic and an '09 Pontiac G6), I chose the Nissan Altima 2.5 S that was used. Took it out for a test drive at the dealership, and I was amazed on the ride, the handling, the transmission (CVT), and the how well equipped the S trim was. A slight downgrade in terms of the engine performance, since the Altima 2.5 S trim had 175 HP from the engine, while coming from the Chrysler Sebring I had before, it was a 2.7 L V6 with 200 HP coming out. However, the Altima's CVT made the ride and acceleration very smooth. Handling was great and more sportier than the Sebring, and more spacious than the Sebring! However, there are a few drawbacks. First, whenever the engine starts cold, a minor rattling sound can be heard from the engine (it being the 4 cylinder version, in the 2.5 S trim). Next, the rear suspension sags a bit lower than the front. Although comparing it to similar Altimas within the current generation of them, they're all like that, thanks to the multi-link suspension. Another thing is the centre console (the cupholders and the cubby hole storage compartment in the middle), the materials feel a bit cheap, and doesn't help when it moves around a bit than it should. Although, it may have been addressed in the later models. Other than that, this is a great car all around. Great on gas in the city and highway, and again, compared to the '03 Chrysler Sebring which had only 60 L fuel tank capacity, the Altima has a huge gas tank at 76 L, which makes it great for long road trips. Driving it on the highway from Winnipeg, Canada, to Minneapolis, MN was smooth, and just made the journey from one city to another in just one tank. All-in-all, great car! Definitely would recommend this car to everyone!

Not quite my Accord, but close

Overall, I love the car. Acceleration is smooth and quick, braking is safe and reliable. Controls are easy to read. I love the looks of the car, but that's a personal preference, obviously. The front seats could use more support, esp and the front edge of the cushion..I feel as if I'm sliding downwards sometimes (don't know if power seats w/b better). Love the electronic start feature. Lots of room up front. Only downsides are the typical Nissan stiff-as- a board ride, and the also typical Nissan sqeaks, which mysteriously disappear whenever I bring the car to the dealer to be looked at...

09 Coupe

I got a steal. Found a 2009 Nissan Coupe for 17k. It had 7k miles and was practicaly brand new. I commute a lot to school and work; and the gas mileage is a huge improvement coming from a Wrangler. Also plenty of get up and go when needed. The only drawback is I have gotten two speeding tickets! Learn to use cruise control if you purchase the 6 cylinder!

Great Car

I bought my Nissan In October 2010 with less than 10,000 miles. After 3 months, and 12,000 miles, I am very happy with my purchase. The car is smooth and fast. Love the leather interior and the alloys, ans the exterior is great!. I would recommend this car to anyone.

Beware.

My '09 Nissan Altima 2.5 S wouldn't start for me at Petco. The problem was a fried Body control module. I only had 40,100 miles on it and it was just out of warrenty. Beware this is a costly repair and you might just get stranded somewhere some day. I ignored the intelligent key warning light, but I doubt taking it in before it wouldn't start would have saved me from having a dealer replace the body control module anyway.
