Solid as the day I bought it!
I have a 114k miles on this suv and it still starts/drives/handles the same as did when it was new. Power to spare and very solid off road. The inside features are simple and easy to use. The only real problem I have had is with the multi-cd changer "its junk" and Nissan has ignored my complaints. If they had had replaced the unit or at least offered a new one at a good price I would have been Nissan owner for life.

Major Expenses every 35K
Its nice to drive and has never had to be towed (yet) as my old Trooper did on a regular basis. The problem is the rear end. Upper and lower links, bushings, and Panhard Rod have gone out now for the 3rd time (at 40K, 72K, and 105K). This, my 3rd 4WD vehicle (4Runner, Isuzu, Pathfinder). It is the first to NOT go "off road". Its been on pavement (and snow) all its life. Yet it regularly has expensive (over $1,000)rear end repairs now for the 3rd time. The first time, Nissan's Service Manager said it happens to most Pathfinders on a regular basis (confirmed by the parts manager as well). Stupid me. I should have listened and dumped the thing immediately. Now I'm getting "what problem?" and "not covered by any guarantee" from Nissan. If you must buy a 4WD vehicle, get a Toyota. Never had a problem and sold it at 96K for $1,000 less than original new purchase price. Curiously, my old Honda Civic Wagon got the stuffing beat out of it, got into far worse off road driving conditions than any of the 4WDs and was vastly cheaper and more reliable. Hmmmm.

this thing is awesome
it just goes. i live in rochester and this winter has been nothing with the pathfinder. the four-wheel drive makes this bad boy just go. my driveway and neighborhood are really hilly, and the pathfinder just gets up it, even in thick snow and ice. it handles very well in the snow and in regular driving, and is more like a car than a truck in that sense. the front seats are very comfortable and visibility is great. tons of cargo space (limited rear seat room, unfortunately). the only big downside is that gas goes quickly if you stomp the pedal. but, if you drive like a normal person you can upwards of 15mpg in mostly city driving. the comfort features are nice too, heated mirrors, power everything, leather wheel/shifter, good sound system standard (bose!), and possibly the sturdiest SUV of its size ever built. it feels like it was built to last, and the number of them on the road is proof of this. i adore mine.

Terrific car
I bought this car "used" at 90k, now it has 110k miles, it has very very reliable for me. very comfy, super powerful, good features all around, been a wonderful car. Great on snow and ice, especially in hills and slippery surfaces. It has a beast under the hood, step on the gas and you unleash it. I have never had any major probs. My minor repairs included fixing a dangling skid plate, oil cooler leak, brakes, sway bar link, tire alignment. Its not terribly good on gas but I can live with that. A must buy for people hunting for a medium sized SUV, which is powerful and reliable

Good Vehicle
Owned it for about three years...got with 20k. Excellent vehicle and very enjoyable to drive. Comfort is unbelieve. Great in the snow. Interior and exterior toughness is some of the best i have seen. Now to the bad...The pathfinder has many little repairs that can be costly. Preminum Gas is a killer. Overall, very good suv for the money as long as you realize repairs will be necessary unlike a honda or comparable vehicle.

Best Used SUV
I own a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder LE with the 3.5L V6. That year it had the most power in its class and I can tell everytime I step on the gas. It has a powerful 240horsepower V6 with great pickup and power. I have about 141,000 miles on the engine with a rebuilt trans at about 139,000 miles and it runs like the first day I bought it. No leaks, no noise, no problems. It starts every time and never dies. The gas mileage is pretty good for a 4x4 suv compared to any domestic vehicle. I looked at Toyota 4Runners with amazing reliability but Nissan has just as good, with more power.

Best Combo of luxury and utility in a used SUV
Bought my 2001 SE with 60K miles on it and love the way it drives on and off the road. I took it on a very rough 4x4 road where it passed with flying colors, never feeling too rough or out of control. On the highway, it has the feel of an expensive SUV. Well, it was over $32K when new! What gives me the most comfort is how many I see with well over 130K miles on them and still running strong. Parts and maintenance are cheap, and gas is, well, expensive as would be expected. It drives beautifully and powerfully, it has plenty of goodies (I can't figure out the garage door opener, though), and it looks fine. Not beautiful, but OK.

Great SUV, but disappointed with Reliability
After 60K miles had a lot of problems. Overheating (had to replace radiator), Catalytic converters (both needed replaced), Bose in-dash 6 cd changer (needed fixed twice). Expected better reliability. Upto 60K, it was excellent.

GI-ME ANOTHER
Own 2001 LE with 130 k miles, still has original brakes and drives smooth, the relieability is eccellent. We tow a cargo trailer from FLA to appilacian Mnts 3-4 times a year and have no problems with power or handling the terrian. We are now shopping for a second car and after looking at cost of an accord or civic for economy and reliebility. We've decided to buy another used 2001-2003 pathfinder, the saftey and reliabilty and maybe an the extra $500-$800 in fuel a year out-weight the higher insurance and purchase price of a 04-05 Honda accord. Making use a 2 pathfinder family.
